    Nausea after eating

4-5 oz. at 6 weeks post-op seems like a lot. What kind of things are you eating? It's possible that you are eating too much and that's what's causing the nausea. Also, it's incredibly important to get your protein in, so if your current shakes are making you sick, maybe try some other options? There are a million out there!

    Pre Op diet.

I don't know about "easy", but it might behoove you to go with a high protein/low carb diet, since that is most similar to what you will need to do forever once you are post-op. Can't hurt to start getting used to it now! Some other things you can work on "practicing" now are chewing thoroughly, eating slowly, and not eating and drinking at the same time. Might even be worth replacing a meal or snack with a protein shake to start experimenting with different protein shake options to find which you like best.

    Surgery Update!

Awesome! I suspect you wouldn't be able to eat much solid food right now anyway, so the pre-op liquid diet is pretty automatic.
  4. @@CowgirlJane For better or worse, I would feel the exact same way in your situation. I agree it may be part of why were are/were emotional eaters. We feel more deeply than we should, so we turned to food to help cope with those powerful emotions. I think it is good that you are being analytical about this. You already recognize that the emotions you are feeling shouldn't be allowed to ruin what was otherwise a great experience. And I think that, in and of itself, is quite and accomplishment.

    Today is the day

@@excitedforweightloss Hang in there! Just try to focus on what you need to be doing day-by-day these next few days. Timing out your shakes, water, naps, walking, and vitamins can feel like a full time job!

Breast lift, no implants-where to begin?

@@Daisee68 I'm glad I trusted my surgeon on implant size. She really picked out a size that looked natural and best-suited my frame. But I suppose it depends on the surgeon on whether or not you want to trust them on that decision.

    It's finals week...with out caffeine :o

12 weeks? Yikes! As it was, the pre-op diet plus the 30 days post-op I wasn't allowed caffeine was KILLER. I was literally counting down the days post-op until I was allowed coffee. Had it highlighted on my calendar and was marking off the days.... I am a true addict.

    Gastric Bypass - Mexico

I am sure most surgeons who perform sleeves also perform bypass. I know mine does for sure. So even if most of the reviews you are finding about surgeons and facilities are from sleeve patients, the would probably also apply to RNY patients.

    It's finals week...with out caffeine :o

Are you not allowed to have caffeine or are you simply choosing not to? I was cleared for caffeine at 30 days post-op.

    The struggle is real

Was it your surgeon or your insurance that denied you?

    Binge eating and emotional eating

I was a binge eater pre-op. I really struggled with ot being able to binge for a while, but I think my brain finally caught on to the limitations of my stomach around 4 months post-op. I never really replaced my binge eating with anything else. But I did find that exercising regularly really helped mitigate stress and control my emotions.
  13. This makes me really curious about whether WLS patients have the same kind of metabolic rate decreases, how much and what accounts for any difference between them and people who lose weight other ways? I think WLS patients *can* have the same issues with their metabolic rate if they lose very quickly and have a significant average daily calorie deficit. I have definitely seen many many posts on these sites from vets who have to eat as little as 1000 or 1100 calories a day in order to maintain their weight loss. I really feel like a similar study to this one should be done on WLS patients taking into account their rate of loss post-op to see if there is the correlation I suspect between calorie deficit and decreased RMR.
  14. Welcome! It sounds like you already know what's in store over the next few weeks. The pre-op diet is no fun. That is for sure! And there will definitely be some trials and tribulations in the early weeks post-op. But, like you said, it will all be well worth it in the end!

    HIGH QUALITY multivitamins

I've been taking vitamins in capsule form, the ones recommended by my surgeon, since 7 day's post op. Prior to that, I was breaking the capsules open and mixing the powder inside into my protein shakes and drinkable yogurt. But I was cleared to start swallowing them whole at 7 days post-op. One capsule, three times a day.

    separation

WLS can be very taxing on relationships. If the two people are just at totally different point in their lives and moving in different directions, WLS can definitely exacerbate the issues.

Is it really that MUCH trouble!?

If I go into a post and there's no punctuation and it's all one big wall of text, I just don't bother trying to slog through it.

    Surgery date

Yay! Congrats to you. Getting the date is what makes it all feel "real"... hang onto the excitement you are feeling now and don't let panic set in!

    One week post op breakfast:

Yeah, I've read about people on purees while still in the hospital. Meanwhile I think I wasn't on purees until like day 17? Every surgeon has their own plan for sure!

    Finally on the other side.

How many pounds was it? It was 12 pounds of skin. I don't remember how much fat was lipo'd out.

@@JenniferVSG2011 Welcome! I think you have definitely come to the right place. A lot of vets on these forums have struggled with some weight regain in the years post-op or never quite reached goal. The good news is, you still have your sleeve and it will still work with you as the tool it was meant to be. It sounds like you already know a lot about what you need to do, but hearing from others and the accountability these forums offers really help with the process.

    Finally on the other side.

I was so glad my surgeon didn't show me the skin or fat she removed. That definitely would have grossed me out! She didn't even tell me how much it weighed, but I did find that later in my paperwork post-op.

    One week post op breakfast:

Were you told to eat more than 2 oz. at a time? My nutritionist had me weigh out 2 oz. in the early weeks. I agree with @@camry2016 that you are lucky to be on cottage cheese so early! But every plan is different so we all just have to follow the plans we were given. The fact you can do 2 oz. of cottage cheese already is awesome! Seems like your recovery is going really well!
