  1. i definitely think that if you are only allowing 3 weeks in between, you should do the breasts/arms first! No way would I have been able to undergo another surgery just 3 weeks after my extended tummy tuck.

Tummy tuck vs lower body lift

Lower body lift will give you some lifting of the outer thighs and but, and help remove some excess skin on your back.

    Water!

That's great! Should make meeting your water requirements much easier. No, you cannot stretch your sleeve by drinking too much water or too quickly. It passes through your pyloric valve as quickly as you can swallow it. So drink up!

    Stress-induced Weight Loss

Okay. Some of you who know a little about me, know that I have already been kind of struggling to maintain my weight as I was training for a half marathon (now training for a marathon). Throughout the course of the 14 week half-marathon training program, I managed to keep my weight pretty steady around 160 with only mild fluctuations. I got a FitBit and tracked all my food to make sure I was eating back the extra calories I was burning. But now I have a whole other problem. My husband and I are going through some serious marital challenges. It has caused me a lot of stress and sleepless nights and I am just not wanting to eat AT ALL. I want to be training for this full marathon in September, but I am eating maybe 1500 calories a day if I REALLY push it? On Saturday, I had breakfast at like 8:00, then I met my sister in the afternoon. Driving home from meeting my sister at about 4:00 I realized I hadn't eaten since breakfast! I am way off of my game. Yesterday I was down to 157 pounds, the lowest number I've ever seen on the scale. I don't know how to force myself to eat. It was one thing when it was just a matter of fitting in enough "feedings" to get in my calories with the marathon training. Now it's not only that, but I just feel constantly nauseous from the stress, worry, anxiety, and grief. I know there are others of you who have gone through rough times post-op. Whether it be relationship issues, job issues, a death in the family, etc. How did you stay on track and stick to your eating schedule through those tough times?

    Stress-induced Weight Loss

I don't think surgery was so much the CAUSE of the issues in our marriage so much as an indication of how different we truly are and how we hope to achieve happiness. My surgery was just one major example of how I strive to constantly improve myself and grow. Whereas my husband is content to stagnate. It's certainly not the only example of that though.
  6. Muscles need water to repair themselves. Any new workout routine will cause temporary water retention. Don't let it deter you! In the long run, exercise will allow you to lose more fat and retain more muscle.
  7. I would seriously consider the breasts/arms first because they are much easier recoveries. I am afraid if you do the body lift first, you won't want to go back for the others because of how tough the recovery is!

    Dr Sergio Quinones

I think my concern with Dr. Quinones, back when I was researching surgeons in summer 2014, was that I saw a YouTube video of him performing surgery and neither he nor any of the staff in the OR were wearing surgical masks.

    Weight gain after plastics?

It really does take a LONG time to heal up from a TT. You could ask your surgeon if you are concerned. My scar took a full two years to fade to where it is now (5 years post-op now).

    Weight gain after plastics?

The swelling after a tummy tuck is massive. It is completely normal. It will likely take months to go down. Especially if you had any lipo. Pretty surprised your surgeon didn't warn you about it.
  11. That's what I don't get. You completely wreck your metabolism with that kind of restriction. I pushed hard to get over 800 early on and then 1100 once I started exercising and was probably at 1400-1500 by the end of my weight loss phase. Now, in maintenance, I can eat 1900 on non-cardio days and 2400-2600 on cardio days. Had I been keeping under 800 through all of the weight loss, I'd probably be stuck around 1200-1400 in maintenance. I don't see the advantage of that at all.
  12. I think my first inquiry to OCC was on July 18, 2014 and my surgery date was Sept. 1. I could have probably had the surgery sooner, but they did want me to try to lose between 5-10% of my body weight pre-op and do a 15 day pre-op diet.

    How many ounces?

I am 21 months post-op. I can usually eat about 3-5 oz. in one sitting. A little more if it's something with a high liquid content, like chili.

    Liquid diet weight loss...

The liquid diet causes massive water weight loss, because it causes your stores of glycogen to be depleted.

    Stress-induced Weight Loss

@@Christinamo7 Actually, this morning I was down to 153.0 out of nowhere. Had been steady at 154.4 for two days then BAM! Down another 1.4 pounds.....

    Stress-induced Weight Loss

Maybe. As long as the fight does not involve a weapon. Danger Will Robinson, Danger. If you knew my husband, you would know how absurd a notion that is! He seems to be doing a bit better these last two days. Kind of in a numb denial I think. He has therapy this evening, so hopefully that will help some.
  17. I pushed to get up over 800 calories as quickly as possible in order to be able to start exercising. Once I was exercising intensely, I tried to get up over 1100.

    Stress-induced Weight Loss

i really don't have any option to move out. Nor does he. Until the house sells, we are both trapped there. We have literally zero money that isn't tied up in the house. Neither of us has family nearby that we can realistically stay with. I will say that I am 100% confident that there will be no violence or even vindictiveness. But if it did come down to that, I am 100% confident I could take him in a fight! I'm pretty badass now.

Well the house will be listed this week. Fingers crossed that it sells quickly, but we are still looking at a good 2-3 months to close on it, even once we accept an offer.

    Stress-induced Weight Loss

Had a really rough weekend! Worked very hard on getting our house ready to list this week. My husband was a wreck all day Sunday. He literally spent several hours just staring off into space. I had to cook him dinner to get him to eat. If you knew me, you would know how remarkable that is. I DO NOT COOK! He seemed a bit better yesterday. But between all the housework, his mood swings, and it being a long weekend, I was honestly grateful to get back to work this morning. I even came in an half hour early! Sad that I long for weekdays and dread weekends now! I've been steady at 154.4 the last two mornings. So it looks like the rough weekend didn't take too much of a toll on my weight at least.

    Collagen as a protein source?

I was told the same thing. Collagen is a poor form of protein that isn't well absorbed. I was told to always look for whey isolate as the primary ingredient in any protein supplement.

    Stress-induced Weight Loss

Things are still holding pretty steady weight-wise. I have been back down to 154.6 the last couple of days, but not dropped below that.
  24. JamieLogical

    Is it ok

Numbers on the scale don't really tell us much. Some people do everything right and still lose slowly. In that case, it's certainly okay. If, however, you are losing slowly because you aren't sticking to your plan or getting your activity in, that is indicative of a larger problem.
  25. I was told to get up to 100 grams of protein as quickly as I could post-op. Didn't get there until I was on soft foods, but managed to keep it up from then on.
