Hi Kendra, I wanted to add my thoughts and support for you, your family and your friends. I am pretty sure that amongst all of us you have all parts of the globe covered. That is a lot of positive energy and a lot tumour kicking going on.

Good luck with the surgery Nat

No problems Min. I may be working that day but if not I would love to catch up.

Fill Dr. in S.E. Asia, Jakarta or Singapore ??
mss replied to Debbid's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
There are a number of lap band doctors in Perth. These are just three that I found. I imagine that they would all do fills. Dr Kevin Dolan Dr Stephen Watson Mercy Bariatrics -
Well done Yaz. I hope that you will feel a little better now that you are able to eat some food. :cool2:

No problems here flying either. My first flight was 3 weeks after the surgery. Have a great holiday

How did your doctors feel about you getting a Gastric Band?
mss replied to sphynxmomma's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have a few doctors and they were all really supportive when they heard about my surgery. My surgeon (not the one who did the lap band) told me that I was already a foxy chick and that I would be even more so when I had lost some more weight! -
Blood thinners and the lap band surgery
mss replied to toomuchsusie59's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had a PE a few years ago but had been off the daily blood thinners prior to surgery. My surgeon asked me to see the haematologist before surgery and together they worked out the anti-coagulation plan for me pre-and post surgery. Good luck with it all. -
Talk with your doctor when you go to your appointment and see what they say. I was also travelling not long after what would have been my first fill and so my doctor suggested that I defer it which I did. Enjoy the cruise.

I agree with what the others have said...your weight loss so far seems to be fantastic. I definitely sometimes feel as if this is a dream however the one thing that makes me remember that it is real is the changes that I have made in my life so far - at the gym 4 times a week, eating things I never would have looked at before ie. healthier choices and when going out with friends I actually suggest that we combine going for coffee with going for a walk! It is these changes which make me believe that for the first time in my life I am not going to 'try' to lose weight but that I am going to DO it. I am still in bandster hell and had plateaued for a while and then, even worse, I put on weight when I was overseas for a wedding! I felt sorry for myself for a couple of days, watched the scales creep even higher and then decided that I needed to do something. I reread all of the information the doctor gave me about the band and what I should be doing and I worked my butt off even harder at the gym and thankfully I am once more losing weight. Well done so far and remember that you aren't alone.

You may find that your abdomen is a bit swollen for a few days to a week after surgery due to the air they pump in during the op so it may be a bit difficult to wear a girdle initially. I have a thick elastic compression 'thing' that I sometimes use and I think it was about a week before I started wearing it. I didn't go to the bathroom for a few days except to pee due to being on liquids so by the time I was able to go I had no problems bending. Good luck with it all.

Maybe check with your doctor as there may be some restrictions about when to start drinking alcohol. Congrats on your weight loss so far.

Shortie Porties--Banders that are short!
mss replied to PigsRFlying's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Yep another shorty here! I am 5ft 1 (and a half) and my brothers used to tell me when I was younger that I had been adopted as they were both so much taller than me. I find it difficult to get jeans/pants that are not way too long and usually wear 3/4 length jeans which go right to my ankles! -
Hi Michelle. Are you making sure not to drink with your meals? Not eating food that can slip through easily- icecream etc? I still write down everything I eat every day and I find that this keeps me on track as well as helps me work out what foods work best for me. Do you exercise? Again that has been really important for me. Sorry if this sounds like an interrogation, I don't mean it to sound like one. Maybe if you give us some idea of what you eat each day some of the others could give some more advice. I wish you all the best. :rolleyes2: Mel

I had my second fill today and have lost 14 kg in total (maybe around 30 or so lb's). I went away for a wedding and put on 2 and a half kilos in January so I had to work like a demon at the gym to lose that and I even lost another half a kg on top of that so I am really happy.

I wanted to add my support and warm wishes to you. Grief can affect everyone differently and you can often experience a change in eating habits, as well as lack of energy, lack of motivation, wanting to avoid people etc. It may be helpful for you to go and have a chat to your doctor and see if there is a counselling service you can link in with to get some extra support at this time. I haven't tried any of the Wii games but they look like great fun, especially the dancing one.
-
Well done Misty. I also have a couple of pairs of jeans that I can now slide down without unbuttoning - it is great isn't it!! I had my second fill today which was exciting and I am hoping that I will feel a little bit of restriction soon. Even though I am in bandster hell I have managed to lose a tiny bit more weight by upping my gym work.

Hi Min Wow congratulations on your weight loss so far and more importantly on the regular exercise you are doing and the healthy food choices you are making. I would definitely be up for meeting you at the High road pub on sunday. I live nearby and tend to get lost if I try to go outside of my comfort zone. Melanie

I am having my second fill on thursday with Dr Watson and I can't wait! We decided that I wouldn't have a fill last month as I was losing quite a bit of weight at that stage....big mistake!!! In the last month it feels like I have been able to eat not only a house but all of the furniture inside it as well. I have put on probably a couple of kilos which disappoints me however I have still lost about 11-12 kg so far and my clothes continue to fit me better. Hurry up thursday!!!!

Perth Bandster Get Together - How, When and Where?
mss replied to Fanny Adams's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I will put my hand up to meet also. I haven't quite got around to going to one of the bandsters catch up's that happen at kings park but that is also on my list of 'to do' stuff. -
smiles... glad you have found an answer. And well done on asking for help... trust me it does get easier the more you do it and amazingly people are often glad to help out.

I will make sure I send lots of good luck and positive vibes to you. This probably sounds a little strange but if you have any spare time Rastis maybe you could do some meditation or visualisations focusing on accepting your band and picturing it as a long lost friend. I realise it is your body and not you rejecting your band but hey.... anything is worth a shot. fingers crossed for you. :cursing:

I have never heard about not drinking through a straw. I have used one quite a few times in the past 3 months and I am still here.

Conversations you hear sitting in your doc's waiting room
mss replied to BRANDYK's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was wondering the same thing Fanny. I wonder if Aussies are more hesitant to talk to others in the waiting room. Or maybe that is just a Perth thing. The surgeon I go to does different surgeries apart from the LB so I would never presume that anyone else in his waiting room is also there for LB related visits unless they mentioned it first. -
I was also banded in October 07 and have flown six times without any problems. I asked for either low fat or vegetarian meals on the plane. I also packed a few Protein shakes to take with me in case I had problems eating while I was away but I didn't have any problems at all. Enjoy your holiday and congratulations on your weight loss so far...you are doing great.
