My name is Tina. I'm 42, a wife, a full time student, a mom to a 7yo, and I work. I have PCOS that I would guess started around 23 yo. First it was severe acne, then I went from always being underweight to fluffy. My periods were crazy unpredictable, and by time I was 30 I was 180 lbs. I dieted and exercised obsessively and got down to around 132. Keep in mind I was 95 lbs at age 18 and I'm only 5'3". It wasn't until I was around 34 that I was diagnosed with PCOS. I finally knew then that all of that was related. After I had my child at age 35, I suddenly went from the PCOS to Metabolic Syndrome. My weight went up, I had high blood pressure, elevated blood sugar, and high cholesterol. While pregnant, I had gestational diabetes and was on 2 different types of insulin. That sucked! Then I got hospitalized for high blood pressure at the very end (I had always had lower blood pressure all my life). That went away, but came back with a vengeance about 6 months after giving birth. I'm sick of being unhealthy, sick of carrying all my weight at my waste, and am in disbelief that insurance won't cover me having this done. They stand to benefit as much as I do after all. In any event, I'm happy to finally be taking control of this aspect of my life. When I walk the stage next May to receive my Master's degree, I plan to be 115 lbs, which is my ideal weight for my height and frame.
So it's been 10 days since the surgery which was in Tijuana, Mexico. The first day was awful. The days got better quickly. Walking around is the key. I'm 10 days out and already 8 pounds down! Dr. Ramos Kelly was fabulous and knows his business. Hospital Angeles was top notch. I would go back to that hospital in an instant, and would recommend Dr. Kelly to my loved ones and my friends. I would choose Dr Kelly and Hospital Angeles again and again!
