  1. I had my post op appointment today and everything for me is going really well. I can start soft foods although I've already incorporated food into my diet. I hate Protein shakes and would rather get my Protein from foods....healthy foods of course like eggs, fish, and some veggies. Today for Breakfast I had some left over baked ziiti that I made last night. I cut it up really small and made sure I only had 3-4 ounces which I tolerated well. For lunch I had a boil egg and some shrimp...I tolerated them very well. dinner, I just finished eating about 2 ounces of cube steak-cut small, 1 oz of mashed potatoes and 1 oz of corn. I only ate a few pieces of the corn because by the time I got to it, I was full.

My advice is to really listen to your body. Take a few bites of the soft food you choose and if you tolerate it then eat more. Measure, weigh and portion your food to be sure you are not over eating. Eat slow and don't drink until 30 mins after. This has worked for me and I realize everyone is different.

    Best of luck!

  2. I was really concerned about reaching Protein goals considering I was only getting in about 15 grams per day. I called the doctor's office and they told me that I should be having at least 4oz of Protein shake 3 times per day along with plenty of Water to stay hydrated. They were more concerned with hydration than Protein. I tried a little yogurt today and a little apple juice along with 4ox of protein twice today. I find myself not being hungry however I make myself drink. I am more thirsty than anything and drink a lot of Water throughout the day.

I am ready to move to the next phase.

  3. I'm 6 days post op and can't seem to sleep at night. I know I'm probably not getting in enough Protein but drink as much of my Protein Shake as possible. I hate the smell and taste of everything except popsicles and pink lemonade crystal light. I wish I could drink more Water at one time. I'm looking forward to the next phase so I can get some food into my system. Any ideas from anyone else as to how to sleep all night? I have one more week off and then back to work. HELP

  4. Hi Crystal, I'm glad you survived. I too survived. I have to agree that the first 48 hours are very tiring. I was nauseous all the time and had an allergic reaction to morphine. I'm great now, just experiencing the bloating, gas, and trying to eat. Hopefully I can go home today. I also had my gallbladder removed which is the source of my pain. Oh and the gas. My husband had been right by side as well, being very helpful and attentive. I couldn't have made it through this without him.

  5. This is my 2nd day on my pre-op diet and this really sucks. I think if my head will stop hurting I would feel a lot better. I don't feel hungry, just know that I should be eating. I do keep my mind on the prize and the fact that I was given permission to eat a Thanksgiving dinner which I won't. i prepared Thanksgiving Dinner this past Sunday before I started my liquied diet. Instead I am going to enjoy my favorite restaurant which will be opening here on November 22nd. After that it's back to liquid diets. I am looking forward to the restriction on my stomach and feeling full faster and longer. Best wishes to all on this journey to the losers bench.
