1. Griz Girl, I share those same fears. I am not so much worried about the surgery as I am making this band work. I have failed at so many diets. I REALLY want this to be it for me. I want to lose this darn weight for the LAST time. I look forward to hearing how you did!! It's going to be an awesome bandster week. Amy
2. Thanks wishes. My doc does measurements and a picture preop and then at 1 year post op. I have been really impressed with them. I will be the first patient that she uses the AP band on. I just got home from getting a manicure and pedicure. I am soooo ready. I wll post as soon as I get home

Protein drink samples

Try Welcome to the UNJURY Homepage I ordered it and, in fact, am sitting here drinking my first one as I type. I read about it on this site. I ordered a container of the unflavored and then samples of the others so I could try them first. I am drinking the unflavored right now. I put it in chicken broth. It is great. I really cannot taste it. I am really supprised at how good it is. Hope that helps.

wow, 47 pounds in 3 months!! You are doing awesome. Do you work at the hospital where you had your surgery???
7. We eat the deer. They are more lean than beef and without the chemicals. We love deer meat at our house. When our son was little he had a lot of allergies, and beef was one of them. The allergist told us that if we knew any hunters to feed him venison(deer meat) because it is much more hypoallergenic. I don't believe in killing animals for sport, but if you eat the meat then I am ok with it.

My name is Amy, and I am being banded on Wednesday. As a nurse, I see people struggle with all sorts of physical ailments. Obesity is one of the main ones, because it perdisposes us to so many other health problems. I PRAISE GOD FOR GIVING US THIS TOOL. I am so glad to find a Christian thread. I feel very much at peace with my surgery. I look forward to us watching each others progress together.
9. Well, tomorrow I am working at the hospital for 1/2 day and then getting a manicure and pedicure before the big day. It has been years since I have had either one so I am quite excited. I just got home from leaving my 11 month old at my inlaws. He will be there until Friday. It was a little sad to leave him, but man is my house quiet right now. Husband's gone deer hunting, older son is spending 1 night with my inlaws. I have the house all to myself. I have been very nervous this week, but as the big day approaches I am feeling rather calm and peaceful tonight. I hope it isn't the calm before the storm. LOL I can't wait to begin this journey. I am determined and ready!!! I will post before I leave for the hospital on Wednesday and as soon as I am home and awake. Thank you all for your support. Can't wait to see everyones progress as we reach our goals. God Bless.
10. I went to my Dr office this morning for measurements and preop pictures. The lady in her office that handles all of the lapband patients was banded 2 years ago. She was so reassuring. I am ready to get this done, and on to a new and better me. Actually, I just want to find the me that I lost under all this fat.
11. My inlaws sell Watkins. They have a chicken broth that, for now, I love. I bought it in sample packs so its very easy. I also should get unjury in the mail tommorow. I went to be measured and preop talk at my doctor's office. My doctor is out of town, but the girl in her office had lapband surgery 2 years ago. She is very comforting and encouraging. Today I am cleaning house. Getting everything ready to go.
12. Thanks Cindyluhu! I am planning on only the best. Did you have to do a preop diet. I am on a 2 week liquid diet, and have done very well, except one night. Until today, I find myself wanting to eat everything in site. Is this presurgery jitters or what. I actually snuck in another room to eat the crusts my son didn't eat from his grilled cheese sandwich. How silly is that. I know that doesn't amount to much calories, but I felt in control until today. What's up with that
13. My big day is Wednesday!!! I am nervous, excited, determined. You name an emotion and I have probably felt it in the last 24 hours. I notice that I am being a little short with my husband today. He is VERY support. I am not sure what I want. Maybe I want him to roll out the red carpet for the queen of I'm having lapband surgery this week. I have been busy getting everything ready. Oh yeah, I am doing something for myself that I never do. I am getting a sea salt manicure and pedicure on Tuesday before my surgery on Wednesday. I am sooo ready to be sharing post op stories with you all!!!!!!!!!

Newbie from Georgia

Pamela, How are things going. Getting a little nervous here. Surgery is Wednesday. I am so ready for the surgery part to be over.
15. That what makes a site like this soooo helpful My husband is also thin and eats whatever he wants. Unless you have struggled with weight issues then it is impossible to understand the emotions and struggle involved. Reading other people's stories is very encouraging.
16.
You shouldn't feel like a failure. Quite the opposite. I struggled with this same feeling for many years with my yo yo dieting, and even this past week while struggling to stick to my preop diet. I use to call lap banding a bandaid for people without the selfcontrol to overcome their eating issues. Obviously at that time I was in total denial about my own eating disorder. Why would you swim across the ocean if you have a boat sitting in the dock? Lapband will be my boat to get me to the other side. I still must guide it and care for it properly to be successful. Anyway, I was in the mall this past week watching people. I now notice how many people are as overweight as I am. I used to think I was all alone. I asked myself why more people aren't having lapband surgery. Their reasons are many, I'm sure, but IT TAKES COURAGE TO BEGIN THIS JOURNEY!!! Please don't look at it as a last resort or failure. BE PROUD THAT YOU HAVE THE COURAGE TO TAKE THIS STEP!!!!

I'm going to be banded on Wednesday, so yall may have to remind me of this post during my recovery. Please don't let me feel too sorry for myself!!

17. Artzygirl, I am being banded on wednesday as well. I'm sure you will do great. Just having preop jitters. I have them too
18. My surgery is Wednesday. thanks, This is very helpful.
19. Hey guys! I went for my preop on Friday. Nerves are beginning to set in a little. My surgery is Wednesday. I have a little diarrhea today, but I really think it is just nerves. Normally I am not a nervous person. This is just such a major life choice. One I know I will be glad I made. I am having to make myself post this morning. I kinda just want to crawl into a little cacoon and wait for the surgery to be over.

Banded Nurses?

Suzzzie, I was a hospice nurse for 2 years, and I must say that in 11 years of nursing it was by far the most rewarding work that I have done. If I ever went back to full time nursing I would have to say Hospice is my passion Amy

Banded Nurses?

I am an RN and I currently work PRN at a very small hospital, so we do it all, and then ship the really bad oned to a bigger town. I work VERY little since getting our little boy. I have an 8 year old son, and we are in the process of adopting an 11 month old little boy. He was 2 months when we got him. He was cocaine addicted and very sick respiratory wise. After terrible withdrawels he is a normal 11 month old. He was allowed to go home from the hospital with his mom (even though she was positive for cocaine at the time) and the continued exposure made withdrawals very difficult. Anyway, both parents signed relinquishment papers and I got a letter from the attorney yesterday saying that his final hearing for adoption will be November 5!! WOOOOHOOOOO He will official be ours very soon. Anyway, I am scheduled to be banded on Wednesday. I did preop at my hospital today. The nurses I work with all promised me that they would take very good care of me and make sure I have the new AP band. I think a nurses thread is a great idea. We are definately a different bunch of people aren't we. LOL
24. I need opinions here. I am on my 9th day of my preop diet. I have done well except for a binge the evening of day 6. I ate 2 corn dogs. I really want to do well on the preop diet to shrink my liver, etc. Here's the deal. I LOVE CHINESE FOOD!!!! I really want to have one last meal of chinese food. I understand that with my band there is a chance that I will not be able to tolerate rice. How much damage would I do to go eat chinese food tonight?? Will it add taht much fat to my liver, or do I need to just "put on my big girl panties" and follow the diet like I am supposed to. What do yall think???? My band date is October 24 (Wednesday) __________________
