  1. It acts as a funnel. Liquids can go through without difficulty. Solid foods sit in the pounch and digest. This makes you full longer and also limits the amount of food you can eat. If you add liquid to your meals then it mixes with the solid food helping it to go through the "funnel" more like a liquid. When used as directed by your doc the band should work 100% of the time. I think your doc is just making you aware that the band is a tool. You still have to do the work. In my mind, I think of it like swimming across the ocean. Why would I swim if there is a boat waiting on me at the shore. The boat(like the band) is my tool. I still must care for it and guide it to be successful. This is just my understanding of how this all works. I was just banded today, so I don't have a lot of experience to share. Hope this helps.

Ask you doc about ice cream. I don't want ice cream because milk products tend to "gunk up" in your throat. They would be hard for me to tolerate anytime soon, but everyone is different. My throat is sore, too. It is from the breathing tube used during surgery. I have been sucking on halls cough droops this evening.

    Banded Today!!!!

It did not cost me any more that I know of. I don't know if the ap port and they low profile port are the same????? Maybe someone else could answer that question for you. The ap port is a fairly new port by INAMED. My doctor chose to use the small port. There is some good info on this site about the ap port. Do a search for it and read away. Best of luck on your surgery. jmom710, You are right the staff at dr querry's office are great. Shannon has really made me feel comfortable about the surgery and recovery. I think a good relationship with your doc and staff plays a huge part in this process being successful

Today I have had Water, 1 popsicle and about 1/2 container of sf Jello. The gas is a little worse tonight. I tried to lay down and can't lay flat in the bed. My dh helped me stack pillows and that has helped a ton. My doc said that I can start full liquids tommorow and yes, I can do creamed soups that are thinned. She reccomends soup at hand but thinned a little more. I am not hungry at all. Oh and BTW I brought 3 extra pounds home from the hospital with me. I'm sure it is fluids. Praying for a speedy recovery for you, Godzgurl. Have yall heard from artzgirl?? I wonder how her day went!!

    Banded Today!!!!

I slipped up a few times too. That is why I was afraid she would not be happy with me. Overall I did well. I lost 13 pounds on the liquid diet. If you have a bad day just regroup and get back at it. Where do you live?? I just love Dr Querry. Her bedside manner is wonderful.. She even gave me her cell phone number in case I have any questions. I live in Pittsburg, Tx. If Dr Querry is banding you then you must not be too far away. Amy

Just got home. I am doing well. Had to stay a few hours because my O2 saturation was a little low. Not surpirising since I have sleep apnea. I am sore, but doing well. No nausea so far. I am fixing to lay down. I will post more when I get up. Thanks for all the prayers. Please continue to pray for quick recovery. Amy

Good night all. Tommorow is band day!!!!!! I have everything ready here. I am praying for a good night sleep and a very uneventful banding tommorow. I will check in when I get home. Thanks for the prayers and support. Amy
  22. Ok, I have done measurements, pictures, bath, shaved, packed my bag, cleaned house, and done all the laundry. Man, no wonder I am ready for bed. We have to be at the hospital at 7:30am. My surgery should be between 8:30 and 9:00. Thankfully, I live about 3 miles from the hospital, so I plan to be home early tommorow evening. I will let everyone know how it goes. I wil say a prayer for you as well, Artzygirl. Good night all. Tommorow is band day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What do you do for you???

I got a manicure and pedicure today. I rarely do anything for myself. In fact, I informed my husband last week that this week (my surgery is tommorow) was going to be all about me. Wow, That is really big for me. In fact none of my family knows how to act, but they are going along with it pretty well. I am enjoying my special week. I think I could get used to this.
  24. Only positive thoughts!!! Positive thoughts!!!!!
  25. Thanks you guys. I got a french manicure so that they can still check for circulation. There was nothing on my day surgery instructions about polished nails. Oh well, if they take it off, it was very relaxing and a treat for myself that I rarely ever do. They may have to take it off one nail to put the pulse oximeter probe. I will check in with you all after my surgery. I am certainly ready to move to the banded side of this journey.
