    Newbie from Georgia

I am great. Still having some gas pain, but it is less every day. I have been trying really hard to get my water in. I have had 6 cups today and I feel like I have been pushing water all day. I feel water logged. My port site has completely quit draining. My incisions look really good. I am see the pounds drop on the scales as well. Tonight my stomach hurts just a little, so I am thinking, "oh no, is it slipping? AmI having a problem??" I'm sure it is none of these and jsut gas. I can keep water and soup down. I haven't had any nausea at all since surgery. I guess the unknown is just a little scary. It will be reassuring to see my doctor in tommorow for hospital follow up. I'm on to mushies on Wednesday!! I can't wait for pudding, mashed potatoes, and scrambled eggs!!!!! I will feel like I'm having such a treat!! Pamela, Thanks so much for checking up on me. I didn't realize that I hadn't posted in several days. I hope things are going well for you as well.!!!!!!

    TENaciousTENS "roll call" as promised!

I am right there with you on the water. I am used to gulping it to get the right amount in. Today, I have had 4 cups and I feel waterlogged. I am finding this to be my biggest struggle now that most of the post op aches and pains are gone.
  3. My starting weight was very close to yours. I have recently been banded and am very glad that I did. DON'T SET YOURSLEF UP FOR FAILURE!!!! TELL YOURSELF POSITIVE THINGS!! YOU CAN DO THIS!! It is good to be informed about possible risks, but when you decide to proceed (and it looks like you have) plan on succeeding. This website is great for support and encouragement. When you are down just come here. You will not fail!! You are going to lose that weight for the last time. I can't wait to see your progress.
  4. Hey Griz Girl. Glad you are doin well. I was banded one day ahead of you and each day gets better and better. I have a follow up with my doctor tommorow. I can't wait to see everyone's progress.
  5. Liquid Tylenol and my heating pad have been a lifesaver for me. Along with gas x. I was banded on Tuesday, October 24. I have had a lot of gas, but each day it is better. today I feel very human again. I am back to homeschooling my 8 year old and caring for my 11 month old. I am past the post anesthesia fog that I felt for a few days. I am on liquids for 1 week, mushies for 1 week, soft foods for 1 week and then I can start adding regular foods. I can't really say that I am hungry. I am just ready to chew!! In fact, one of my favorites is mac and cheese. My son wanted that for lunch today, so I fixed it. I actually put a bite in my mouth and chewed it and then spit it out. I know sounds wrong, but I am no longer thinking that I NEED mac and cheese. Overall things are going great!! Oh yeah, pounds are dropping too!!!

    Where are you noticing it?

I waqs walking with a friend across the park yesterday and my 8 year old son yelled, "Mom, you are already getting skinnier!" I was embarressed, but jumping up and down on the inside. If my 8 year old notices then that's a pretty good sign. When we got to the car I asked him where he thought I was skinnier, and he said in my legs.

    Banded??? Check in here

O2BSlim, I was banded on Wed, Oct 24. I fell great except that blasted gas. I know what you mean. I feel like if I could just burp really big I would be all good. I feel like I am going to burp and then get this horrible pain in my chest. Then it all goes away. I have been passing A LOT of gas today and that seems to have made the other gas pressure better too. So glad to hear you are doing so well. I think this gas thing is to be expected. It to shall PASS. (pun intended LOL)
  8. I wish you the best tommorrow, Karen. Let us know how everything goes!!

    How Much Is Too Much

That is what I thought, but I starteed second guessing. I just don't want to do something wrong. Thanks for the reassurance. Amy
  10. I was banded on October 24. On the 2nd day post op my doc said that I could eat "Soup at Hand". It is a soup made by Cambells that you can sip. On the first day I could only drink about a third of it at a sitting. Now I can drink 3/4 to 1 whole container. 1 container is 10 ounces. Depending on which one you get, the calories range from 80 - 140. It is very thin. Definately could be sipped through a straw. Can liquids stretch your pounch in the beginning??? The only other things I am eating are sf jello, sf popsicles, and water. I just don't want to stretch my band out before I really get started!!! Advise please.

    Should I Be Concerned

Thanks for the reassurance. I don't see any signs of infection. I think I am fine. Thanks, Amy
  12. I had my band place on Wednesday the 24th. I am feeling great! I still have some gas, but it is improving everyday. Last night I started having some bloody/watery drainage from my port incision site. It doesn't look infected or anything like that. It is a little puffy and I'm starting to see some bruising. I have a call in to my doctor, but was just wondering if this is pretty common or should I be concerned. Otherwise, I just feel like I am doingg great!!

    Should I Be Concerned

My doctor's office called back. As long as no signs of infection I am good. What a relief.

    Newbie from Georgia

I feel better this morning. I think the walking at Walmart probably helped. One of the reasons I went was because of the gas pain. I think I just stayed too long. I am having much less gas today. I slept very well last night. I am having a little watery/bloody drainage from my port incision site. I have a cal in to the doctor. I am hoping it is no big deal. I just put a peice of gauze and tape over it. It's not draining a lot, but it is draining. I will keep you posted. have a great day!!
  17. Today was my big day!!! I got home about 5 this eventing. I had to stay a few hours post of because when I would fall asleep my O2 Sat would drop(even with oxygen and my cpap). I feel much better than I thought I would. I received the new ap lapband small. It was the first one my doctor had placed. She had to make that incision a litle larger and said that I had a little bleeding so I may be more sore there. She said that the band is pretty snug and has about 3cc of saline in it. I am drinking Water without any difficulty. I also had a popsicle. I haven't been brave enought to try anything else. My left shoulder hurts a bit, but I know its just gas. The heating pad really helps. I am kinda scared to go to sleep tonight for fear that I will not remember to breathe after the o2 sat problems that I had at the hospital. I'm sure that I will be fine. Honestly, I feel SOOOOO much better than I expected, but still plenty sore. Thank you all for your support and prayers. I look forward to hearing updates from the others who were banded today as well!!! I HAVE A LAPBAND WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo::whoo:

    Banded Today!!!!

I am feeling better each day. Yesterday we went to Walmart. Probably not a great idea for 1 day post op. I felt pretty rough last night, but I slept much better and am feeling good this morning. I am having a little bloody drainage from one of my incision sights. I don't know if that is of concern or not. I have a call in to my doctor. I am also going to start a thread to see if anyone has had that experience. Tralynn - Your surgery will be here before you know it. Hang in there on the liquid diet. It doesn't last forever.

I am doing ok. Having a lot of gas pain. We decided to go to walmart last night, and that was too much. I plan on taking it very easy today. Overall, I am doing very well.
  20. Yellowsing, I am doing well. Tonight we decided to go to Walmart. That was a bit much for 1 day post op, so I am kinda paying for it tonight. Still a lot of gas, but overall I am doing great. Thanks, Amy
  21. I can get peppermint tea. I don't know about degas, but we are going to Walmart tonight so I will look for it. Thanks so much. Amy
  22. I am good. Quite a bit of gas pain today. DS and I have walked around the outside of the house several times. I think I am doing very well. I am starting to belch and pass some gas. I will be glad when I get rid of all this gas. Your 4 "sleepy times"(as we call them at my house) will pass before youknow it and you will be in band land. I can't wait to hear about all of your success.

    Banded Today!!!!

Ok, It's day number 2 and I am doing well. I am really sore. The place that hurts the worst is probably my middle back. Not sure why unless it's from laying on the operating table. Overall I am still doing great. I am fixing to try some chicken broth with unjury in it and see how i handle that. Planning for a great day!!
  25. Here is a link to the thread I posted when I returned home. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f84/banded-today-43823/ Since then, I am doing ok. The gas pains are a little worse tonight. Laying flat is not comfortable. I am wired for some reason. THANKFULLY, I have had absolutely no nausea. They gave me some zofran post op, and I have phenergan at home, but haven't needed it. I even refused a phenergan shot before leaving the hospital because I have no nausea. They took me back for surgery at about 8:30 this morning. I went to the nursing floor at noon and came home at about 5p. I have only had Water, 1 popsicle and1/2 container of SF Jello, but I am not hungary at all. The gas pain is in my chest, back, and left shoulder. It is tolerable, not too bad. I have only taken 1000mg of tylenol since I got home. I am sore, but overall things went MUCH better than I had anticipated. Best of luck to you. Keep me posted on your progress.
