I di dnot have a hiatal hernia, but have read where others have. It gets in the way of the surgery, so it is not uncommon for them to repair it as well, but no, I didn't have one. Praying for a quick recovery for you!!

I was told to take mine to the hospital jsut in case. After surgery, I had a hard time keeping my oxygen saturations up. Probably a combination of sleep apnea and anesthesia. Anyway, I had to stay several extra hours as a result. Without the cpap my oxygen sat. would drop to the upper 70's. With just the cpap I would drop to the mid 80's. I ended up on the cpap with oxygen for several hours. i was definately glad that I took it. The cpap is a little annoying, but I feel sooo much better since I have it.

BCBS Minnesota Supervised diet required but not paid for
renewedhope replied to lindahol's topic in Insurance & Financing
My insurance required psych eval and testing. They covered the eval, but i had to pay for the testing. That's insurance for you! -
I love candy!! When we got home tonight, as always, my son and I poured all of his candy in the floor. We separate the chocolate, the really cool candy, the suckers, and the not so good candy. Now he has 4 neat little bags of candy. I know, it's a little obsessive. I didn't even eat one bite, but now that everyone is in bed and I am the only one up, I am having a hard time not eating a peice.

I do floor nursing in Pittsburg. I work PRN and do that very rarely. Mostly, I homeschool an 8 year old and chase an 11 month old. I have done several different things. Home Health, I managed a 5 physician practice, clinic nursing, and Hospice. I worked hospice for 2 years, and I must say, it was the most rewarding nursing I have ever done. Difficult, but rewarding. I worked for Cypress Basin Hospice in Mt Pleasant.

Restriction Without Fill?????????
renewedhope replied to renewedhope's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am only 1 week out, but I have lost 12 pounds in the past week. I know that will slow down greatly, but I am enjoying it for now. That puts my weight loss since starting the preop diet at 25 pounds. I can only eat about 1/4 cup of mushies for now. -
Restriction Without Fill?????????

Shirley, I just realized that you were banded by Dr Babineau in Tyler. I actually live about 1 hour north of Tyler in Pittsburg. I was going to use Dr Babineau but Dr Querry came to Pittsburg, so I used her since she is local. I am a nurse at ETMC Pittsburg. Small world. -
Restriction Without Fill?????????
renewedhope replied to renewedhope's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I drink an unjury shake each morning to get protein. I am learning to really pay close attention to that. My dh was laughing at me in the grocery store last night. I would look at something and say, "No, that costs too much" He finally asked why I was so worried about what everything costs. I told him too many calories, not enough protein. He thought I was talking $. We both had a good laugh at that. I am so encourage to think that I may not have to go through bandster hell before my first fill!!! I am actually scheduled for my first fill on November 20. If I still get full this quickly will my doc just wait on the fill until I feel hungry. I also wonder if I am getting full so easily now due to post op swelling that hasn't gone down completely. Thanks so much for yall's responses and encouragement. -
Congrats!! Keep us posted. I pray for quick healing and speedy recovery for you.

justwaitin2b banded in October and a bit scared
renewedhope replied to justwaitin2b's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Amy is feeling great!!! I went to my post op Dr appointment yesterday. My surgeon said that I look great!! I can start lifting my baby again, walking at the gym, and whatever else I feel like doing. I can't lift anything heavier than my son. (18lb, 9oz). I started mushies yesterday. Here is what I like so far. ffsf pudding fat free refried beans with 1TBSP ff sour cream(very yummy and good source of protein) I had a soft scrambled egg and grits for supper last night. I was amazed!! After a few bites of grits and about 1/2 egg I was full!! and stayed full!! I did have a little more gas last night. I bought tuna and ff mayo, but haven't tried that yet. I love banana baby food, but after looking at the calories and amount of sugar in them, I decided to steer clear of baby food. My baby needs all those calories and sugar I guess, but I am trying to stay between 500 and 800 calories, and I didn't want to spend that many at once. Same thing for applesauce. I feel like I have a new lease on life and it's only mushies. LOL We are going to trunk or treat at church tonight and they are having a hamburger/hot dog cook out. I love hamburgers, but I would be scared to death to cheat at this point. I don't want to mess up my band. -

Karen, I am so glad you are home and doing well. That gas is a weird thing. If I lay fleat I felt like all of the gas pressure went to my chest, so I was more comfortable sitting up. Isn't it amazing how our bodies are all so different. Get lots of rest!! We look forward to hearing about your progress. -
Teresa, I am in East Texas as well. Pittsburg. Where do you live.

I had my post op appointment today, and the doc's scales weighed less than mine at home. WOO HOO!! She said that I look great. I can begin lifting my baby. I can start walking at the gym. On to mushies. I see her again on November 20 for my first fill!!!! Just in time for Thanksgiving. I headed straight to Taco Bell and got refried beans and sour cream. (Does everyone do that) It was SOOOOO yummy. I went to Walmart and got some fat free beans and ff sour cream. Not a bad source of protein, and yummy too. I am soooo excited to be on theis journey. My "renewed hope" of a more healthy, attractive, active future. Pamela, I can't wait to Kick PCOS's butt!!!!! -
Dr Querry. She hasn't been here for very long. She came here from Marshall. In fact, I think she still practices in Marshall a couple of days a week. She will do my fills as well. I absolutely love her. She is very laid back. Her office is small, and so you really feel like part of a family. Shannon handles her lapband patients and she was banded by Dr Querry. She has lost lots of weight, so when you call with a question, you either get to talk to Dr Querry or someone in her office who has been there. Very reassuring. Anyway, I can't say enough good about her. I go today for my post op visit. Dr Querry's website is Dr. Kathleen Querry Surgical Solutions I thought about having my band placed in Tyler, but am VERY glad that I chose Dr Querry.

I have read that about mushies. It makes since really. You increase your calories at that point. First fill WOOO HOOO!! I can't wait to be eating solid food and getting fills. We are well on our way!! -
Yes we will!!! The Giants are improving, but remember back to week 1. Dallas has improved since then as well. GO BOYS!!!!!!!!!

The days before surgery are full of emotions. When it is done you will be soo glad. Just as you made the choice to have the surgery, and the choice to stay on the preop diet, You will also be able to make the right food choices. One step at a time. You can do this!!!

I am a BIG Dallas Cowboys Fan, but I LOVE ME SOME BRETT FARVE!!!!! What a way to start/end overtime. BTW, my Cowboys signed Romo to a 6 year 67 million dollar contract. The Cowboys are on the rise again!! LOVE MY BOYS!!!!

Since the liquids go straight through, do you know why the water is making us feel sooo full. I used to drink much more water than this, but I was a gulper. -
i got the special K pink lemonade. I didn't care for it much. Would rather have an unjury shake, and MUCH more protein
-
I was also banded on the 24th. Pretty cool day!! I am on clear liquids and protein shakes. I should be able to start mushies on Wednesday. I'm not hungry, but would really like to chew on something. I can't wait to start mushies. A scram bled egg sounds like a real treat!! You will find lots of support here. Congrats on your band. Keep us posted on your progress.
