  2. I did pretty good yesterday, with the exception of a lemon slush from Sonic. FULL OF SUGAR!!. I am having an Atkins shake for breakfast this morning. Weekends are so hard for me. Looking forward to a great week!! Amy
  3. Bloo, You are so inspiring. We are at Chili's for lunch. I had 1/2 rack ribs and brocolli. I skipped breakfast. Doing pretty well today. How is everyone elso doing?? WE CAN DO THIS!!!!

    Unless your band is too tight you should not have any trouble with liquids. You just have to drink them more slowly.

  6. Jeannie, Certainly you can join us!! Welcome!! Ok guys, less than 2 weeks to the Valentine challenge. I have 5 pounds to go!!! I have got to get with it!! Time to put on my big girl panties and get it done. You all are such an inspiration. I am going to continue induction until Valentine's day. On Valentine's day I am going to celebrate a job well done by having a nice dinner with my DH. Then I plan to start adding back some carbs. Good carbs, like fruit. I have always been such an all or nothing person when it comes to dealing with obesity. I have got to break that cycle. I have not been perfect this week, but it's not about perfection. It's about continueing to push toward the goal!! The nothing part of me would like to just do nothing now because I am disappointed with my week. I WANT TO BREAK THIS CYCLE. So, today I choose to break the all or nothing cycle and continue to reach toward my goal!!!

  8. I wish you the best. This is the best decision I have made in a very very long time. Where is everyone tonight??? Today was ok. Not great, not horrible. Here is what I had. B - 1 slice ham and 1 slice cheese L - 1/2 stuffed chicken breast (spinach and asparagus) D - patty of a hamburger from Sonic Lemon slush (BAD BAD) S - cheddar cheese I quit keeping up with calories, etc. I know what to eat. When I kept up with it, as long as I ate what I knew was ok, then I stayed within the range. I hate counting calories, so I'm not going to for awhile. If I stop losing I will revisit it, but it's just too diet like for me. HOpe everyone had a good day.
  9. That is true about hmaburger helper and sodium. We had stopped using hamburger helper at all, but since we have increased from 1 to 5 kids in less than a year I am having to, at times, do what is easiest. This may not be the best thing, but I always keep hamburger helper handy so that if we are in a hurry or if it is close to payday and I am short on cash, i always have something to cook for the kiddos. I always fix green bean and fruit with the hamburger helper. At least that makes me feel like it is a healthier meal. I love to cook from scratch, but lately I have a hard time finding the time.
  10. These are some great ideas. I am a stay at home mom as well, and we have 5 kids. I love crock pot ideas. My family will pretty much eat whatever I cook. I hate to say it, but they get lots of hamburger helper. It's cheap, and we deer hunt. We process almost all of our meat into ground venison. It has much less fat than beef and we process our own, so always having meat is a huge savings. I also fix breakfast for supper often. My family likes that a lot. I also buy in bulk at Sam's, usually once a month. It costs more at the time, but lastsw so much longer. Canned fruit on sale is a great idea. my kiddos love fruit.

    Protien mix samples

    Unjury has an unflavored protein powder. I wouldn't say that you can't tell it's there, but it is definately not bad. YOu can order a sample of it from their website as well. I have been pleased with unjury powder.
  12. Each Insurance company is different. Call yours and ask what the requirements are. I did a 5 month program over the phone where a diatician called me every 2 weeks to talk about weight loss, my struggles, etc. This counted as my 6 months as well as my diatary consult. I am a nurse and used to manage a physicians office. We would have patients come in once a month wi9th a dx of obesity. This satisfies some insurance companies. The requirements vary so much from company to company. Call and find out before you do something that may not be required. Best of luck to you!!

  14. I am doing Atkins induction to boost my weight loss, but mainly to kick my sugar/carb addiction. I plan to continue a "low carb lifestyle" and maybe even the other phases of atkins. This just makes sense for me and my band. We all know that with Lapband it is so important to get in protein first, then veggies, then carbs. This closely resembles Atkins for me. I am still having a hard time with sugar cravings, so I may be here awhile :smile: Luscious, are you banded?? Do you plan to get banded??? Welcome..
  15. Ok, I was doing so good. Was is the key word there. Now that we have 5 children, my dh hired a babysitter and every Thursday is Date Night!! WOOHOO!! You know we talked about 1 day off a week. I think mine will be Thursday. We were hungry for fish. I ate 3 pieces. Not TOO bad. Then we went and saw Bucket List at the movies (very good movie). Get this, I ate a box of Butterfinger mini's. Yes, 29 grams of carbs!! I ate the whole thing. On to tommorow..... Amy
  16. Welcome Luluc!! I don't take supplements, although I should. When I went on Atkins preband I gained when I went off. this is the first time I have been on it post band, so I really don't know. I have not really been doing it by the book, but if you do, then you go to the ongoing weight loss phase next, and eventually to the maintenance phase, so its not like you really go off of it, you just add foods and as long as you are still losing you are good. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, whether you do Atkins or not, welcome. I have found great support on theis thread!! Amy
  17. Don't be hard on yourself. What is up with Pop tarts. Last night I was going to eat a pop tart. I took one bite and couldn't eat it. It got stuck and came back up. That is so weird though, of all the foods to cheat with we are both trying to eat a pop tart!! Out of town appointments are the hardest!! You can get back on track. I really love this thread. Amy

    Countdown to Onederland!

    Ok, I have watched this thread since I was banded, looking forward to the day that I could join in. Well, I have been hesitant to post, but here I am. I am currently at 215. I know I still have a little way to go, but it seems pretty close to me. A lot closer than 255 was!! So here I am, on my journey to onederland!!
  22. I got full a lot quicker tonight, but I can't really say that I feel more restriction. I don't know if that makes sense or not. It's still kinda hard to tell, but I think I am not going to be able to eat as much volume of food. I hope that is the case. That is really what I wanted, not necessarily to be "tighter". I hope that makes sense.
  23. I just ate the chicken breast stuffed with artichoke and spinach. YUMMY!!! I could only eat half, but man was it good!! I haven't kept up with my liquids today. I did have a caramel macchiato with sf syrup. Other than that, just crystal light, one piece of cheese, chicken and green beans. back to normal foods for tommorow Great job Georgia!! Congrats on the pound!!
  24. ONly liquids for me this morning. I havent't eaten lunch yet. Probably just a shake. I will eat real food for supper and see what happens.. I forgot to weigh this morning, so I will wait until tomorrow to see what my little rebelious weekend did to me. So glad to be back on track. welcome to all the new guys!! The more the merrier!!!
