whosya, I will definately need some advice on where to go from here. 180 pounds in 12 months is AMAZING!!!!! I had to look at your numbers to make sure you hadn't made a typo. I am VERY impressed. I am hoping to lose 25 more pounds before my bandiversary on October 24. I was beginning to think that was highly unlikely. After seeing what you've lost it seems much more doable! WAY TO GO!!!! HAPPY BANDIVERSARY!!!
-
Kathy, I am sooo glad you are all ok. What a scary night. You are going to be really sore. Don't push too much. Glad you are ok.
-
Way to go Wow and Cindy!! wlecome to Onederland!!!

Welcome Serenity. It is so impressive that you are doing this preop. I am not sure I would have had the drive to attack it then. You should be very proud!! Not sure what to tell you about the calves. Be sure you give your body plenty of fuel (food) for your run. That is all I can think of. When I don't eat enough good carbs I have a REALLY hard time with my runs.
-
Ok, You've probably figured out by now that I am pretty obsessive. I like to call it driven. Well, I was so frstrated with myself about my run this morning. I decided I would start the run over after supper. So... I repeated week 6 day 2 this evening. I completed it!! It was soooo hard. Harder than the 20 minute run. Probably because I have allready done my exercise video for today and I had allready done about 2/3 of day 2 this morning. Anyhow, I started at the beginning and went through the whole thing. I was very proud at the end of it, but man am I tired. Goodnight all!!

Tootie, Way to go on a great first day!! Sugar, Hope your leg is better real soon. Mamato, I can just see myslef screaming "tell her to hold it!!". You are so good. I might have gotten in trouble on that one. georgia, Stay in the house. Seriously, I hope you are doing ok this evening. Take it easy girl. Leslie, Get better real soon. hope your kiddo is doing better too. I went to the doctor today. My last visit was 3 weeks ago. Since then the scales have only dropped 2 pounds, but acording to her machine, I lost 5 pounds of fat and gained 3 pounds of muscle. I am happy with that. My lapband doc is also going to do my tummy tuck and thigh lift. She looked at all my loose skin and we began making plans. She said that she doens't want me to focus on a weight, but on body fat. When I am 25% body fat then I will have the surgery. I am so pumped. With her doing it I will be able to have it done locally and save a lot d/t me being an employee at the hospital!! I am looking at the end of the year!!

I'm staying on plan today because I am worth it!! -
I just attempted week 6 day 2. I didn't complete it. It is 2 10 minute intervals. I made it through the 1st 10 minutes, but tuckered out about 3 minutes into the 2nd 10 minutes. I know what the problem was. I did my other workout first and haven't eaten anything to speak of today. I know better. You just can't do that much exercise without any fuel. I got on there believe I probably wouldn't make it because I needed to eat first, but I wanted to get the run done so I didn't stop to fuel my body. I will probably get back on this evening when I have eaten and made up my mind. If I get on thinking I won't do it then I won't. i'm am pretty frustrated with my poor choice this morniing. because I failed to eat right I am going to have to start the whole run over. YUCK!! Lesson learned. I'm gonig to eat something now.

pooh, I usually shoot for a defecit of between 1000 and 1500. It is important to make sure that you take in enough calories to support your activity. I learned this lesson the hard way. I just finished reading Jillian Michael's book "Losing to Win". It is an excellent book and talks about calorie intake vs deficit, etc. It is very much worth the read. I understood from her book that it is ok to lose weight quickly as long as you eat the right foods, so a large deficit is ok if you support that with proper nutrition. I would have a 500 to 750 defecit without much effort at all. Here are my numbers from yesterday, and I only did 30 minutes of exercise. I do 30 min one day and 1hr on the other day, so I have a greater deficit on my 1 hr day. You also have to consider what your routine daily activities are. I have 5 kids and 4 of them are 4 and under, so I am chasing kiddos all day everyday. That's sure to burn a few calories by itself!! Best of luck to you. I love my bugg. It is a great tool in keeping track of what i am eating. Yesterday - total Burn - 2340 Total intake - 1085 Deficit - 1255

Labor Day Weight Loss Challenge - Let's Lose Some Weight
renewedhope replied to luvinke's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
OK, I still have not lost any new weight. In fact, I updated my ticker today, and it is 1 pound up. I usually don't move my ticker in that direction, but I am giving myself a clean slate. I am also taking DH up on a challenge. I am sooo obsessed with the scales. He is going to put my scales up for me and I am not weighing for a month. So....there is not much chance I will complete this challenge, but my final weigh in will be August 5th instead of the first. I am still cheering you all on!! yall are doing great!! -
Kathy, I think you will surprise yourself and do both 5 minute intervals!!! I weighed and updated my ticker. I was one pound up from my ticker weight. I usually don't adjust my ticker if it means going up, but for this I am. I want to start with a clean slate. I can't wait to see what we all lose in a month while not focusing on the scales. Kathy, you are right, if we can run surely we can put the scales away. I just did my Jiilian workout. now I am going to run day 2 of week 6.
-
Mamato - Sending you lots of positive thoughts!!!!! You can do it!!! Georgia - Glad your knee is better this morning. Maybe after resting it for a couple of days you will be good to go!! I am fixing to weigh for the last time in a month. That seems like SUCH a long time!!
-
Ok, works for me. Tommorow morning it is!!
-
I go to the doctor one day next week. Not sure what day. Kathy, can we start this challenge the day following my dr appointment so it will actually be a whole month???? I am going to have DH hide my scales so that I won't know where they are. I shouldn't be able to cave that way!!
-
You are too funny Lyn. I think I am going to take DH up on his offer. I am waiting to see waht the prize is.) I told him that this is a big deal, so he better make it worthwhile. We'll see what he comes up with.
-
I have never had a knee injury Georgia. All I know is what Sugar said re: ice and heat. Hope it gets better real soon. I did my jillian micheal dvd today. I am adding this to my running. It is a set of 5 dvd's. you do one each day except Wed and Sat. These are the rest days. DH has challenged me to let him hide the scales for 1 month. He said that he would love to see me follow my eating plan, run, and do my Jillian DVD's for 1 month without regard to the scales. He thinks the dvd's will make me gain muscle and I think he is afraid I will become discouraged. He is supposed to be thinking of a reward for me if I do this. He tries to be sooo very supportive. I am soooooo addicted to weighing. This will be really hard. I think I am going to weigh in the morning and then give it a go!! Oh my!!

I'm staying on plan today because I am ready to get down to goal and focus on life and not weight loss. -
Mamato, Give yourself a BIG break. Giong from 8 minutes to 20 is a HUGE jump!!! Somewhat insane actually. You ran for 12 minutes straight. Think about that. How long could you run 5 weeks ago. You are doing amazing. I would suggest that you take the day off and then repeat the 20 minute run. Run as far as you can and then walk. Don't beat yourself up. Take it slow, and gradually increase it. You should be very proud!!! I am very proud of you!! Keep getting back on that treadmill!!!
-
What a cool day Luluc. What a difference in sizes. those old clothes must have been falling off of you!! YOU GO GIRL!!
-
Most of the people on this thread have had lapband surgery, therefore, reducing the voume of food most of us eat. Having said that, 700 calories is not enough. At my most recent Dr visit I had lost 3 pounds of muscle, therefore, I have increased my calories to between 1000 and 1100. I am working up to 1200 call/day and increasing my activity. Of the 81 pounds I have lost this is the first time I have lost any muscle, so my caloric intake was ok for my body until now. I have started running, so I need the extra calories to support that activity. 1200 is a good number for women as far as intake, but if I have learned anything since being banded, it is that everybody is so different, and what works for one may not at all for someone else. Looks like you are doing great with your bugg. Keep it up! I have not posted numbers lately, but I try to take in 1000 calories and have a deficit of 1500 daily.

Bonnie, Of course you are always welcome here!!!!! We would miss you very much if you weren't here. You are right, this is a wonderful group we have here. Georgia and I have tried several times to get some accountability groups started, and I think this is one of the best!!! I hope we continue to keep it going after we are all up and running our 5k's. It will be sooner than we think!! I did week 6 day 1 today. I expected it to be pretty easy after running 20 minutes on Friday. WRONG!! It was really hard to run today. I don't know if there was less momentum or what. I kinda liked the one running segment. I think it's hard to slow down and speed up. It seems to mess with my momentum. However, I think we burn more fat with the interval running. Either way I am really starting to like running!! Georgia, I cleaned out my box so PM away my friend!!

Labor Day Weight Loss Challenge - Let's Lose Some Weight
renewedhope replied to luvinke's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Leslie, You are gaining muscle!! That is great!! I'm sure it's from all that running. The muscle will help your body to burn more fat. I haven't lost much since starting running either. I am counting on it being muscle, and boy am I ready for that muscle to melt some fat away!! Just keep running!! yOu are doing great!! -
I am really looking forward to having a tummy tuck. I think I would look pretty thin now if it werent' for the "flap on my lap". At 150 we will begin looking into in much more closely. DH is completely on board. I don't think it matters at all how fast you run. Just runing in key!! Everyone is doing SOO well!!!! Mamato, Where are you??????
-
Way to go Georgia. Most of the people at the gym are as self conscious as you are. Good for you for not letting anything stop your run today. I am going to start week 6 day 1 tommorow. I am looking forward to running again. I can't believe I am starting to like this.

I also put deoderant under my flap and places that seem to hold moisture when I sweet with exercise. This seems to prevent that aweful rash.
