Luluc, Size 4!! You go girl. Kathy, Way to go on the weight loss. We jsut got back from our little weekend away. I ran outside while we were there. I LOVED running outside, but the resort we were at is VERY hilly. I only ran for 33 minutes and had to walk a couple of times during that. After we got through DH and I drove to see how far. Only 2.2 miles. YUCK. DH told me that I should be very proud. He said that I tried to go from a treadmill to prfessional runner grade hills. LOL. He is so funny, but it was VERY hilly.. Even when going downhill it was really steep and my feet seemed to slam on the pavement. Well, today my legs are sore and I have shin splints. I don't remember when I was sore last, so I must have exerted myslef even if only for 2.2 miles. I HAVE GOT TO RUN OUTSIDE MORE!! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!! Amy

I say go for it Kathy!! My first (and only) 5K, I didn't run anywhere near all of it, and I can't describe the feeling of accomplishment when I crossed the finish line. I SAY RUN IT!!!!!!! While we are out of town this weekend I will be able to do Saturday's run outside. i can't wait. I have done this whole thing on the treadmill and it gets really boring once you are up to longer distances. DH leaves so early in the morning and gets home so late it is just hard to run outdoors. I have got to find a way!!
-
Lyn, enjoy your relaxing evening. We all need one every once in awhile.

2 days in a row. Beware Kathy, you are starting to sound like me!! :tt2:
-
Leslie, Sounds like you had a great day. Moving is the key. Don't be hard on yourself for not running. You did an hour of exercise and that is GREAT!! Glad you are back on the wagon. 6 pounds in one week!! You are doing something right!!
-
Luluc, You are doing great!! It is so much work to do the training with running. I have added back my Jillian dvd's and an upper body weight training, and I have found that it is harder to complete my runs. My muscles just feel tired. You have always been such a motivation to me. Keep it up girl!! Having said that, I was able to complete my 35 minute run today. I was afraid with TOM I wouldn't be able to finish. It was TOUGH, but it is done. Now just weights for my arms left for today. Leslie, I noticed your weight loss on another thread!! YOU ROCK!! How are your runs going?? Have a great day everyone. BTW, I talked to the doctor's office today and my PS is tentatively set for Oct 24, pending ok by the GYN who will do my tubal. I am counting down!!

I took GasX and walked. The GasX didn't seem to help alot, but walking did. Walking gets the gas to moving. Gas was the only post op problem that I had. I think that is very common. Just keep moving. You will love the c25K when you are ready. Right now just concentrate on recovery. Welcome to this journey!!
-
health, start when your doctor releases you to run. I would definately ask the doctor. Until then walk. Walking will help with the soreness and will also help with gas pain. I have learned the hard way, but it is very important to listen to your body!!
-
TOM visited today. Maybe that's why yesterday's run was so hard. Dang that TOM. It wipes me out everytime. Did my Jillian video tonight. It was tough. Followed diet well today. Countdown to PS!!!

Kathy, Isn't it amazing how emotional that 20 minute run is. We all come back and post these amazing posts. I can just see the smile on your face. I AM SO PROUD OF YOU!!!! That is such a big step!! Once you do the 20 minutes you feel like you can do anything!! WAY TO GO!! Whosya, thanks so much for the advice. I have got to get outside and run. We are getting lots of rain from Gustav so I don't know when that will be. I am going to have to not run the 5k on Saturday. I just decided this weekend to do that not knowing that DH has planned a special weekend getaway for us!! We are leaving Friday afternoon and won't be home until Sunday afternoon. We are going to lake Palestine for the weekend. DH's family has a timeshare there and he put us on a waiting list. THey called today adn have a cabin for us for the weekend. I am so excited. So I will be running the 5k on September 20th and that may be it until after PS. Hope everyone is having a great day!!
-
Kathy, I am actually planning to run a 5K this weekend, and then another on September 20. This weekends is kinda a "test run" for the one in September. It is a Cancer Benefit. A friend of mine and I plan to run it together. Leslie, GET UP AND GO RUN TODAY!!! Ok, there's your kick in the butt. It is amazing how much stress and frustration you release by running. You will feel so much better. I say start with week 3. You can do it!! Kathy, we are doing well. I still miss the kids, but have checked on them and they are doing fine. Our social worker said that they talk about us a lot, but it is in a healthy way. We went to our land and rode 4 wheelers this weekend. I was very nice to be able to get out a bit more easily. Low carb......Well, I have done low carb on and off since being banded (and before for that matter). I can eat meat pretty well, especially since getting a slight unfill. A typical day.... Breakfast - low carb shake or sausage and egg (depending on how tight I am) Lunch - tuna salad Supper - baked tilapia, steamed vegetables Kashi Go Lean cereal with skim milk prior to my exercise. Snacks....Cheese, raw okra (I know, it's gross, but I love it), peanut butter, or edemame. I lOVE fruit. berries are the best to eat when low carbing. I love strawberries. Usually I have strawberries with cream (sweetened with Splenda) with supper, but my doctor is having me cut out all fruit to lose this last 18 pounds. I can' wait to add my strawberries back. I am a big fan of low carb, but I just have a hard time doing it well for long periods of time, so I usually do it as long as I can stand it and then add some carbs. Inevitably I always go back to low carb.

Welcome Sass. Get ready!! The c25K is lifechanging (in a good way). I am doing things now that I only dreamed of doing a few short months ago. Can't wait to here your progress!!

I will have an extended tummy tuck and medial thigh lift. For the thigh lift she will make an incision from my groin down my inner thigh to about 2-3 inched above my knee. Sometimes they go all the way to the knee, but my loose skin doesn't go that far. She will remove the skin on my inner thighs. "The girls" are going to need some attention too, but I am saving that for another time. I'll let my breast lift be my "final touch". Seriously, the skin on my inner thighs and my stomach are the worst. If I am brave enough I will post a preop pic in a bikini. I may wait until I'm post op to show them. I judt am not sure yet about showing the more unattractive parts of me on the internet. Anyway, I will be in the hospital overnight, and have 4 - 6 weeks of recovery with 3 or 4 drains in the beginning. They say it is a pretty tough surgery but well worth it.

Looks like I am low carbing it again with you guys. I have watched my carbs closely since not "doing low carb", but I will be following a more strict low carb diet, so I will be checking in here again for ideas and support. I posted this to another thread, but thought I would copy it here... I talked to my doctor today about PS......I have 18 pounds of fat to lose before ps. She recommended that I eat strict low carb. The only exception is eating good carbs (oatmeal, Kashi cereal, low fat milk) prior to and after exercise. She suggested that I cut out fruit and processed foods all together. This is not forever, but just because I want to get these 18 pounds of fat off in the next 6 weeks. I am going to follow my eating and exercise regimen to a tee. DH is going to take a week off to be home with me. Looking at his work schedule, looks like we might try to schedule it October 24 (my bandiversary)! How cool is that. I have to see if my surgeon is available that day. She is going to put in a low profile port as well, since I have a "flippin" port. I am pretty pumped.

I land on my heels. I ran distances in school and my coach drilled that in my head. It is natural now. Thanks Coach Beane. I didn't have a great day running today. I attempted my week 10 run twice. The first time I went for 25 minutes. Then I ran again tonight for 28.5 minutes. Ok, so I didn't run for 35 straight minutes but I did log 53.5 minutes of running, so I guess that's really not such a bad day. I bumped my time up to 5.2 running, trying to get closer to 5K in the 35 minutes. That is not a big increase in speed, but I think it made it too difficult tonight. Welcome Skinny. yes I think you can do that run. Just see how you progress through the couch to 5k and you will be pleased. If you don't run all of it, you will definately be able to run a large portion of it. I say GO FOR IT!! Welcome back Bonnie. Don't be too hard on yourself. Afterall, that is why you are getting banded, right?? Good for you for getting back on track. No looking back, only forward!! Gustov is dying quickly and turned a little to the east. We are getting rain and wind, but they don't anticipate the flooding that they were predicting yesterday, so all looks good here.
-
Georgia, That is pretty much what I am doing as far as diet. I got a .4cc unfill on Friday, and it is amazing how much better I feel. I haven't pb'd at all and I am able to get in the calories I need to run. I never thought I would need to eat more. That is so wild. Well, it appears Gustov is headed our way. We usually don't get much from hurricaines other than rain, but this storm is still supposed to be a tropical storm when it gets here. The rain started a little tonight, but should get bad tommorow. Then the storm is supposed to stall out over east texas dumping rain. I think they are saying we could get 15 - 20 inches of rain. Wow!! I don't know how long we will have electricity, so if it goes out I will check bac in with yall as soon as i can. Tootie, how are you doing??

I paid $99 plus tax for my wii fit, and I have everything I need.

jsut keep calling. When they get some in, it is usually only a few, so you have to catch them when they arrive. Places I know of to look (I am sure there are many other places.) are Game Stop, Target and Walmart.

I just completed week 10, day 1. It is a 35 minute run. I ran it at 5.1. It was very hard, but I hear Rocky music!!!! Maybe that is some redemption for my non10K this morning!! LOL

Tootie, So sorry about all that is going on. We live in East Texas. There are lots of evacuees around. After katrina a family lived in my parents house next door for almost a year. I don't have anyway to contact them. I pray they are ok. They lived in the lower ninth ward. Anyway, where did you evacuate to? My prayers are with you and your family.
