Ok, just got home from my run. I took the boys with me. Dylan loved the jogger stroller. He waved at everyone as we went by. Dalton did great. We ran the first mile. Then I told him to lead the way, and that I would run when he ran and walk when he walked. OMGosh. He sprinted when he ran. He didn't run as far, but those sprints were rough. LOL My son is my new trainer!! Anyway, then we ran the last mile. He stopped and walked a few times but caught up with me. Anyway, we did 4.5 miles in just under an hour. Not bad for a mom and a 9 year old boy. Maybe the longer runs will shock my body into burning more calories, even if I am not running as much of it??? Who knows. I really enjoyed running with him.. What a wonderful night.

Renewedhope is Headed for the Flatlands

Thanks so much Frangi. I recently completed the couch to 5K, so I have been running for 30 - 35 minutes every other day. I run about 3 miles during this time. TOnight I took my son with me and he can't run steady for 30 minutes, so we did more of intervals. I told him to lead and when he ran I would run and when he walked I would walk. What was I asking for??? He did jog like I am used to. It was more like a sprint. LOL We had a great time and went 4.5 miles in just under an hour. I usually do Jillian Michael DVD's as well, but i find I slack off on them because they seem to fatique my legs for my runs. Maybe i will focus more on the dvd's and then do the "sprint" intervals with my son. I haven't lose much weight in several months, and I find myself starting to make poor food choices because the good choices don't seem to be making a big difference. What kind of stinkin thinkin is that?? Definately not the kind of thinkin that helped me lose the 85 pounds I have lost. Everyone is right, these last pounds are so hard. They are playing with my mind. DH says that if I didn't lose another pound it is fine, that I am a hottie and once this flap on my lap is gone there will be no stoppin me. He is so sweet. Thanks so much for the advice. I will shake things up a bit, and more than anything work on my thinkin. It is consistantly makiing good choices that got me to this point, and it will be those same good choices that get me to goal. So....Time to put on my big girl panties and get it done!!!!!!!! Thanks so much!! -

I'm staying on plan today because my new Dallas Cowboys outfit is snug and I want to look hot in it before we go to the game in December!! -
I have not been a good example as far as what to run. I have had child care issues. DH is teaching at our local college and doesn't get home until 9:30, and my parents have gotten hojme from work late. I have walked with the boys in the evenings, but my last real run was on Sunday. Don't fatigue your body training. I would definately take Friday off and have some good carbs prior to your run on Saturday!!! I GOT A RUNNER"S STROLLER TODAY!!!!!! I found one on sale at Baby Depot for $90.00. We WILL be running tonight. I have to check out my new wheels. LOL You would think I got a new car. This really frees me up to run outside without relying on others to make it happen. If it doesn't happen it is on noone but me!!! Mamato, Welcome back Girl!!!! So good to see you posting again. I really admire your desire to continue to work on you despite all that is going on with your husband!! BTW, Love your avitar!! Welcome Health. This thread is AWESOME (Even it I did start it  I look forward to watching you grow into a runner. If we can all do it then there is nothing stoping you!! You go girl. I agree with all of the things Kathy said. She is our token spokes person and keeper of the details!! LOL Love you Kathy!!

I am sooo jealous!!We love the Cowboys. We watched the game. I can't imagine being there. It was definately a crazy game. Dec 20th is DS birthday. That is the day we are planning. It is the last home game at Texas Stadium. Where are yalls seats. We will probably be in the nosebleed section, but just being able to take him will be awesome!! It is a Saturday night game, 7:15.

they work the crap out of them.. Also, you have to consider that it is the 1st week. you lose more in the beginning. Their environment is so structured from workouts to meals, etc. Temptations are pretty well removed. I have always wanted to do something like that. Seclude me, cook for me, train me. I think I could lose the rest of this blasted weight with all of that support!!

I usually just catch parts of each season, but I got a season pass and am ready to go!! I hated to see the green team go too. I don't have a favorite yet either!!
-
Kathy, my first 5K I did by myself. They were waiting for me at the finish line. This time we are not planning to stay together. I plan to run the whole thing and Tony is going to stay with Dalton. He will not be able to run it all, so no pressure for me!!

Thanks Frangi! I have kept up with your progress too and you have done amazing. I have been a lurker on the PS threads for so long!! Ok, I have a question. I have 5 weeks until surgery, and I REALLY want to lose 10 - 15 more pounds between now and then. I run every other day. usually 2 to 3 miles. I eat high protein/healthy carbs. I have been stuck at this weight for a few months now. Any tips for getting my scales moving again. I REALLY want these pounds off BEFORE surgery!! -
Mamato-YOU CAN DO THIS!!! So glad you are back! Can't wait to hear how things are going each day!! Kathy-Way to go signing up for that 5K. You will do great!! Luluc-Thanks for the diet advice. I have played with the same 4 pounds for a couple of months and am so ready to really lose some more weight. I will definately increase my whole grains on workout days. Thanks for the info whosya. How are you these days??? Georgia, DH isn't running with me DS is... Although, last night when DH got home from work I told him that DS is really wanting to run the 5K on Saturday, but I don't want him to run alone, so....DH is going to run it with him!!!! The 3 of us will all be running on saturday. I am so pumped. If I hadn't chosen a more healthy lifestyle then none of us would be running. Isn't that what it is all about!! BTW, I notice your ticker is moving!! Congrats!! On a totally unrelated note.....I am a huge Dallas cowboys fan. For mine, DH and DS's birthdays we are going to try to get tickets to the last Cowboys game at Texas Stadium. It just happens to be on my son's birthday. He has been begging to go to a Cowboys game and Hooter's (he's only 9) for his birthday. DH thinks we should take him to Hooter's too, but I have not agreed to that as of yet!! LOL

Tommorow is your big day!! Saying a prayer for you for a speedy recovery!!

I'm staying on plan because today I recommit to being focused and determined. -
Hi mamato... I see you lurking....Miss you!!!!

Ok, so I was going to leave the kids at mom's and run tonight. Well, she forgot, and she and Dad went to eat. I promised myself no more excuses. I backed up the boys and we went to the track. Dalton and I ran part of the way, but mostly walked. I was afraid that I would fall running with an umbrella stroller. My birthday is on the 26th. I am going to get a jogging stroller with my birthday money, then I am not dependant on other's to be able to get out and run. After running a few times outside it is just torture to run on the treadmill. Sooooo boring. Tonight was really good. DS has been begging to run with me, but i have been training for this 5K on Saturday so I haven't let him, because I knew he wouldn't be able to run the entire distance. Tonight I let him run.. We had so much fun. He wants to do it every night. He did very well. He will be running the entire 5K before long. I think I am going to let him enter on Friday. He will probably walk part of it, but it will be good for him. I could kick myself for being so focused on me running the whole thing that I almost missed out on this opportunity. I am very blessed with 2 incredible boys, and one incredible husband(who works way too late.but only until December. Then I get him back

Thanks Karey! I have followed your progress and you have done amazing!! In fact, I think it was in one of your posts that I read flatlands for the first time. I just can't imagine having a flat stomach. Even as a teenager, I was thin but I always had a pooch for a stomach. I'm sure I will have lots of questions as it gets closer. I have read lots and lots of ps threads and you ladies sharing your journey with us answers a lot of questions. Looking forward to recovering together. -

Thanks guys!! Georgia, you are such a source of inspiration to me. SO glad to have found you on this site. BTW, Georgia will be keeping all of you up to date while I am in the hospital and during the initial recovery. I should only spend 1 night in the hospital. I plan to be back up and running quickly.. -
