Renewedhope is Headed for the Flatlands
renewedhope replied to renewedhope's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
JJsmiles, I can't imagine going through what you and Shalee have. YALL are the inspiration. It is good to see that we all struggle with similiar things. It's kinda like you have to set new goals after PS because suddenly you are happier with your body than you can remember. Too look good was one of my motivating goals, and now I look pretty good. I can't believe I even typed that. I was looking at old pictures today and WOW I have come a long way. Now I must persevere to finish!! I am rambling. All that to say that I love the support here!! -

It is so much easier to take pics when the scles aer dropping, but when I was gaining I just couldn't bring myself to take pics. After the holidays I was up 9 pounds. I have lost 5 of those, so I am back in the right direction. I will post some pics soon. If I think about it I will have DH take some of my revision incisions tonight after my shower. -

She did my revision at the hospital where she has access to cautery. I was awake. She just deadened locally. I got a fill a couple of weeks ago and it has really helped me get back on track with my eating. I don't have any drains. My revision was very minor. I do have some swelling and am wearing my lovely compression garment again. I am so glad you are healing (that stubborn spot will get better too). This has been a really difficult journey for you. You look great!! -

Sorry I haven't updated in awhile. I had a small revision of my tt on Monday. She removed a little pooch on my left hip and some excess skin on both sides. In all I have 33 new staples. Everything is healing fine. I will have my staples taken out on Tuesday. I wasn't expecting this surgery to make a big difference, but it really has. My flat belly is now a really flat belly. I have really been struggling with diet since my PS in October. This week I have consistently eaten well. Since surgery I have been 2 days on, one week off, etc. Just having a hard time sticking with it. I am really working on being more consistent. I am so glad to have a good week behind me. It gives me something to build on. I am looking forward to my Monday weigh in. Hoping for a loss! -
I say go for it. Even if you walk a portion of it you will feel such a sense of accomplishment. GO FOR IT!!
-
You are doing awesome MacMadame. As of today, we have a well. Septic and electric will be put in on Monday. Hopefully the trailer will arrive next weeka dn we can move 1 week from tomorrow. I get my staples out on Tuesday. I am pretty much good to go. LOTS of packing still to do! slinky, DH said that I picked a bad tiem to have my revision, but is there a good time??? I really feel good. I may not be exercising real consistantly till after the move. There is just so much to get done. Feeling a little overwhelmed, but ready to get out to our place!!
-
Way to go Suzanne!!! Beginning is the hardest part! You will be running 5k's before you know it! GREAT JOB!!
-
I actually feel pretty good. I am fixing to pack a little. We should be moving in the next couple of weeks.
-
Congrats Georgia!! You are doing great!! I was the same on Monday but I am planning on a loss when I weigh in next Monday!
-
Welcome Suzanne!! The couch to 5k is great. You can google podrunner for some music to go with it. It really helped me. I am down to those last stubborn pounds and it is so difficult. I just finished reading The Eat Clean Diet by Tosca Reno. She is in her 40's and was overweight and now looks great. I love her philosophy on diet. She says that it is 80% nutrition, 10% genetics, and 10% exercise. That said, I am really working hard on getting control of my eating. I don't want my exercise to be for nothing because I am eating wrong foods. Remember that you need extra protein and good, healthy carbs to have enough energy for lots of exercise! Can't wait to hear your progress!!
-
MacMadame, You are not letting me down AT ALL!! I have felt as though I am letting you down since I have gone into my nothing mode. Keep it up! You are doing great!! Georgia, I have never lost any fluid that I know of. I am doing good today. I am a little sore. After this "minor" revision I have 33 staples. My doctor actually did revision on 2 areas instead of one. I am very pleased. I have done very well with my eating today and actually feel a little more focused. I am going to take the rest of the week to recover from my procedure and then I will start my new routine on Monday. My goal will be consistancy. I am actually looking forward to getting going!
-
So are you just going to leave me hanging??? I did manage a 5.5 mile power walk yesterday. I am just really burned out. I know I need to keep pushing, and I know I will. I am just struggling. I am hoping once we get moved I will be able to settle back into a good routine. I am having my tummy tuck revision today at 3. I don't think she will place much restriction on my activity, but we'll see.
-
Whosya, How do you keep from getting burned out!! I am so tired of this roller coaster I choose to be on. I will run 50 miles in 2 weeks and then nothing for the next 2. I go so much I just crash. Right now running is the last thing I want to do. I LOVE TO RUN!! However, when I push too hard I begin despising it. How do you push yourself without pushing to the point of burn out!! I am impressed with you consistancy. This is something I REALLY want to work on. I want to love running not dread it!

Sorry you are having a rough day. Sounds like you need to go home and cuddle under an warm blanket. I bought the 5 dvd's as a set. I rotate them. They are very challenging. You need a light set of dumbells and a step to do the exercises. I really like it. They are really good.
-
Georgia, I have a set of 5 videos. Shape Up Front Shape Up Back Cardio KickBox Maximize Front Maximize Back My sister has her Wii exercise game. I liked it ok, but I really prefer her videos. They are hard, but I feel like I get more of a workout!

Kathy, I wasn't offended in the least. I know it is REALLY cold up there. Actually, I have no concept of how cold it really is. It is supposed to be 21 here in the morning and I am planning on staying home all day because that is just TOO cold for me. I would never survive in Canada would I?? LOL I am planning to run in the morning. Here is my new plan. You guys hold me accountable, not just for when I do nothing, but also when I do so much that it is obvious that I won't sustain it. Here goes... Sunday - rest Monday - run Tuesday - Jillian video Wednesday - run Thursday - Jililan Video Friday - Run Saturday - Jillian Video I may increase it with time, but I want to do this consistantly and then we will go from there. DH and I are thinking of getting the PX90 videos once we get moved and settled, but this is my plan for now!
-
Hey Leslie!! Good to hear from you. I put off getting a fill for several months because I felt like I just needed more willpower. Well, I got a fill last week and I remember now what restriction feels like. Go get a fill!! Good restriction makes the biggest difference. Georgia, I just noticed that your weigh in put you back at 100 pounds lost!!! Congrats!!!
-
MacMadame, You are doing a great job!! I am going to have to pace myself a little better, but if I can be as consistant as you are we will do awesome in the new challenge!!
-
Kathy, I am going to set a schedule like you said. It is actually pretty cold here. We are expecting an ice storm tomorrow night. It will be in the twenties. We usually don't get snow here,, just yucky slick ice. I love to run outside but with DH work schedule it is so hard to do. Now that my distances are farther the boys don't like to go 5-6 miles with me. Maybe I should do shorter runs with them and then finish up on the treadmill. I really have GOT to work on this all or nothingness!! I weighed today as well and was down to 167! That's 2 pounds for me!! WooHOo!! It's so good to see the scales move!! Whosya, You set yourself up pretty well for this next challenge don't you think!! LOL Next time I want to pick the teams. JK!! Thanks for setting it up for us. I'm going to work on this all or nothing thing and one of these days I am going to beat you in a challenge!!!!!!

The Dr office just called and is rescheduling my revision. My Dr has a sick baby. We go to church with Dylan's doctor and I talked to him about Dylan's burn yesterday. He said that we are doing the right stuff and that it will heal. Burns just take a long time. I knew this, but the reassurance was, well, reassuring. The worst spot on the burn is starting to get smaller. It really looks better in the past 24 hours. Welcome Carol! I love your excitemen and enthusiasm! YOu will do great on your run!! Welcome back Mamato!! So good to hear from you. Good luck on your run today!!! I have missed you! Ok, as for me, I am going to weigh at the Dr office today to see what my muscle/fat ratio is and how I've done since my fill. I am hoping for a good weight loss. It's been awhile since I have lost weight. I don't know what to do about my running. Like usual, I ran and ran and ran until I can't stand the thought of getting on the treadmill to run. Why do I push myself to that point everytime!! I have got to do this running thing in moderation. I ran like 50 miles in 2 weeks, and then just quit. I can't keep up that pace and burn out. Oh, I need some balance. GRRRR.
-
Kathy, I have talked to the Dr and we are putting prescription medicine (silvadene) on it. But I just think I will feel better if he sees it!
-
Count me IN!!!!! My revision is very superficial. I will have it done Monday and plan to keep going without much problem. Kathy, I have not taken Dylan to the doctor, but I probably will on Monday. I really think it is ok, but I want our Dr to look at it just to be sure. Even being a nurse, I don't like burns..
-
Hey Kathy, I am not having the revision surgery until Monday, so I can't use that excuse. We are all fighting off a cold. Sore throat, cough, etc. We have also been working on the land stuff. We met with the well people and Tony and i put an electrical pole in the ground tonight. Too bad that can't count as exercise. The biggest thing though is that I so battle this all or nothingness. I hate it. It is such a mind game. We will be out most of tomorrow. There is so much to do to get ready for this move, but I can't forget my exercise in the process... I will run tomorrow....I will run tomorrow.... BTW, Little Dylan's foot is pretty yucky. It doesn't look infected, but when I was cleaning it tonight a layer of skin came off of the deepest part of the wound. It just wiped right off. He is being such a trouper I know it hurts terribly. Poor little guy!!
-
Thanks Whosya. That should help me get started.

I definately see the benefit of weight lifting, and I love the way it makes me feel. I am also not opposed to a little definition. I would much rather be a little bulky than pencil thin. I just always get stuck in the "what to do" part of weight lifting. More reps?? More weight?? I think too much. It is crazy around here with Dylan's foot and now packing to move, but once we get moved I am definately going to start lifting weights again!
