i am staying on plan today because ...

Tap, my run was GREAT!!! I ran the entire time and my time was 29:20. I couldn't believe it. My goal was under 30 minutes. DH figured it for me and I averaged 9:24 per mile. DH and DS also ran, and DH pushed the baby in the stroller. They finished in 37 minutes. DS placed 2nd in his age division. It was REALLY a great day. OK, I'm staying on plan today because I have started low carbing again. I had gained a few pounds and they are starting to come off again. Today I am only 1 pound from my ticker weight. I plan to lose some new weight this week and that will only happen if I stay on plan!!

Your results sound amazing. I just can't imagine a flat tummy! Sounds like you are doing great. I haven't had surgery yet, so I can't help with the feeling of almost passing out. Hope that gets better really soon.

Couch to 5K for August...who's in?

What to eat? What to eat? I never seem to get this answered. I eat healthy carbs and protein prior to running. Ex: High protein bar or oats, 2% milk, etc. After my run I always have either a low carb shake or 8 oz of milk. Other than that I eat low carb.

Lyn, Best of luck on your run and bike ride. 800 cal is not much at all to sustain that much exercise. Think about taking in some extra protein and GOOD carbs. It took me a long time to believe it, and everyone told me and told me, but it takes more like 1200-1400 cal a day to sustain that type of exercise. Make it a great day everyone!!

Couch to 5K for August...who's in?

Hey guys!! I am on another C25K thread, and just wanted to pop in and encourage you guys!! AS LONG AS YOU ARE MOVING YOU ARE WINNING!!!! Don't worry about having to repeat a week. Just keep going!! I completed the c25K a few weeks ago and ran my first 5k today. I finished 4th in my division with a time of 29:20. Just a few short months ago I couldn't run a mile to save my life, so it can and does happen. You ladies keep after it.. Yall are doing a great job!!

Renewedhope is Headed for the Flatlands

OK, this isn't PS related, but I wanted to share anyway. Today I ran a 5K. I RAN ALL OF IT!!! My time was 29:20. I was very proud of my accomplishment. I placed 4th in my division, and came in 31st overall. The 3 ladies in my division who placed in front of me were very trim, athletic looking women, and I was behind 3rd place by about 45 seconds. Anyway, I was looking at these women, thinking, wow I am keeping pretty good company here. DH and my 2 DS also did the 5K. They finished in 37 minutes. DH pushed the baby in the stroller and my 9 year old placed 2nd in his division. I am still sitting here grinning like a little kid. MY WHOLE FAMILY DID A 5K THIS MORNING!! This is all because I chose a healthier lifestyle. Everyone benefits. I was a little bumbed about placing 4th (1st thru 3rd received medals), and DH said as we walked to the car, "Did you see those ladies who placed ahead of you?? No more whining about coming in forth. Do you realize what a bada$$ you are!" LOL That is VERY strong language for DH. He is so proud of me. I say all of that to say this....I have been so stressed out about 10 or 15 pounds to lose before surgery. Today was a reminder of why I did this. It is not about 10 pounds, it is about being healthy. Being alive. As I sprinted across the finish line, huffing and puffing, I was more alive than i have been in about 15 years!! Today I will savor this moment.. Tommorow it is back to business to complete this part of this most WONDERFUL journey. I am going to do low carb with a few carbs for running until my surgery, BUT I am going to enjoy the rest of this journey. I have come so far!!! To put it in terms of the race, I just turned the last corner. Now I am going to kick it in for the prize, and once I am in the flatlands I really will be bada$$, as DH says.... Thanks for enduring my sapp. What a big day it has been for me!!

    Couch to 5k.....come join me!!

OK, I am sad to report that the rocky music failed me today. I was sucking so much air, I was focused more on breathing. Maybe next time. DH was running so I didn't have anyone to take pictures, so no I don't have a crossing the running line picture. You will just have to take my word for it. I meant to ask someone to take pictures for me, but I left the camera at home. A lady took a picture of me shortly after the race. She was taking pictures to post on the website, so if I make the website I will post a link.

Renewedhope is Headed for the Flatlands

Thanks Karey I will try that. It is encouraging to know that you have continued to lose since your TT. I feel this self imposed pressure to lose everything I can before the surgery. I am so ready to jsut enjoy exercise and enjoy my new body and focus less and less on a "plan" to reach goal. You and Frangi have both helped me a ton tonight. Thanks, Amy

Renewedhope is Headed for the Flatlands

I lost most of my weight doing low carb. When I started exercising a lot I just needed the carbs to have enough energy for the exercise. This is when I plateaud. Last time I went to the doctor I had gained 5 pounds of muscle and lost 7 pounds of fat, so I know it is working, but I don't want to weigh 170 even if I am gaining muscle. I am running a 5K on Saturday and starting Sunday I am planning to low carb it until my surgery. I am going to do more weights and Jillian dvd's and walking/jogging and less running. If I have to have carbs for exercise I will eat them only before exercise and it will be kashi Cereal or steel cut oats, something like that. How does that sound for a plan. How did you ladies get to BMI's below 25. This is where i want to be!! Frangi and Karey, you are both great examples of how this is done. Thanks so much for your advice....
