Welcome Slim. I eat no more than 30 net carbs daily. Net carbs are total carbs minus dietary fiber. I also eat high protein. I avoid all processed carbs. I really don't eat much bread at all. The only exception is an occasional low carb tortilla. You will have really bad sugar cravings for a few days and then your body will go into ketosis. This is where you really start burning fat. Hang in there, the cravings are rough, but once in ketosis they go away. Do a search for low carb or Atkins Induction. Hope that helps.

Glad he seems to be doing better. We have been a bit under the weather here today too. My 23 month old has a staph infection on his knee. It was a mosquito bite that got infected. It looks better tonight, but really hurts him. If fact I just got through putting him back to bed because he woke up crying. I didn't run today. Last night i started hurting in my right side/abdomen. I am hurting where my appendix are. Yes, I still have them. I don't have any fever so I refuse to believe that it is my appendix. I'm thinking that since starting back on low carb I may be a wee bit constipated, so I took some Miralax and the night off. I plan on being well and good to go in the morning. Everyone sleep well. Goodnight.

So sorry Georgia. Dalton had croup when he was little. We ended up in the ER too. Very scary. We will be praying for a quiet, restful night. So sorry he is sick.

Thanks Shalee. They seem to be reasonably priced as well. Which one did you order? I will definately be getting one of those. -

Does it seem like time is moving more slowly than ever!! I am so ready to get this done. It seems like the day will never get here!! -
Nike+ is a sensor that tracks your running(speed, distance, etc). You put the snesor in your shoe and hook the other part to your ipod. If you don't have an ipod you can use a Nike+sport watch. After your runs you download the info to Nike+. Once you are set up you can join challenges. It is really a lot of fun and great motivation. Go to www.nikeplus.com to read all about it.

I knew yours would be great as you are always running. You are very consistant, something I really have to strive for.

I'm staying on plan today because I did yesterday and I want to be consistant!!!! -
Speck, I am with you. I will get my water in today as well!!!

Kathy, Our challenge started on Thursday, so that's in 5 days. If you kept up with your distances, I think you would be surprised at how much you run. I had no idea that I run that far. It really motivates me to get up and do something. My focus is not so much distance or time but consistancy. I just need to make sure that I do SOMETHING every day. It's really a lot of fun.

One Year Status - How much lost? How many CC's? Problems?
renewedhope replied to dustout's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am down 86 pounds since my surgery Oct 24, 2007. I feel great and am a totally diffirent person. I don't know how much I have in my band. It is a 10cc band and I thnk I have around 8cc. I have had fills and unfills, and right now I don't have enough restriction, but I am just dealing with that for now. For my bandiversary gift, I am having a tummy tuck, thigh lift and mons lift on Oct 24th. I can't wait. I have gone form a size 22 to size 10. I run 3 miles every other day, and do Something active every day. I have energy. I feel like I have a new elase on life. I love my band and my life. It's hard to believe how much things can change in 1 short year!! -
It is hard. This weekend I ate 3 popcorn balls that I had bought for my boys. I keep them healthy snacks, so we don't have a lot of junk, but they need the carbs, at least the good ones, so I feel bad to restrict them. I do things like fix strawberries and fresh cream for supper. I eat straight cream and no strawberries. Kinda a compromise. DH is really considerate though and that helps. He says that is I cook it, then he will eat it, and he pretty much does so that is good. This journey would have been SO much more difficult without his great support. We have made it a family affair. Today my 9 year old came in the computer room to confidently announce that our family is the healthiest in town. He cracks me up!!

Any October Bandsters!??!?!
renewedhope replied to SoCalCass's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
the gas x that i ended up using was chewable. a lot like tums. I got peppermint flavored. They were actually not bad tasting. I remember stressing over what to take to the hospital and what to have ready at home. Preparing in advance was very helpful in my recovery. -

There is a whole forum on preparing for surgery. It includes what to bring with you listsw, etc. Go to the main forum page click on Frequently Asked Questions forum click on Lap Band Surgery Frequently Asked Questions Click on You Have a Date! Prep for Surgery. This should help a lot with what to take and what to have ready when you get home. Best wishes to all of you! -

Have some of the regular gas x available too. I couldn't tell that the strips did any good. -
OK, I don't know how o do the cute little thumbnail, but today's totals are now..... Renewedhope - 14.92 Whosyadaddy - 14.44 I walked/ran 3.6 miles and it kicked my butt. I don't know why I am so tired today. maybe all those sugary carbs over the weekend. I just know if I let him get very far out of reach then there is no catching up!! This really is a lot of fun. Thanks for the motivation Whosya! Otherwise I would have put off today's exercise!!

just ran 3.6. Well, walked/ran. It kicked my butt. I don't know why I am so tired. Probably all the icky sugary carbs I ate over the weekend, but I made myself run. Whosya went ahead of me on our Nike+ challenge. I couldn't go another day without running. If I let him get very far in front there won't be any catching up!!
