And this is why I WALK ALONE!

Sorry, but I love her spirit & spunk. I always joke with my kids that when I'm sixty I'll still out walk, out ski, and out hike them. It's actually my goal in life to be an ornery yet loving senior citizen who doesn't take any crap fom the younger generation. Not that you were giving her any reason to be ornery towards you...giving the youngin' of the group grief probably makes her happy.

Definitely list it all! Make it so they can't say no. Good Luck!
  3. I use an app for meditation, called Take A Break. Also, there is another app that is self hypnosis. They have different ones including one for anxiety. Lastly Yoga always calms me & again, there's a fabulous app for that, called Yoga Studio. Hope this helps
  4. I can't speak to the pains that you are going through. But as far as Vitamins go, my Dr. Requires two Multivitamins with Iron a day. The brand is up to us but I like Flinstones chewables with iron. He also requires 1200mg of Calcium citrate per day. I take the Bariatric Advantage and buy it from Vitamin Shoppe. Regarding bread...I hear that some are able to eat it at some point. But many choose not to eat simple carbs. Personally, I no longer crave carbs and really don't want to go back to that, so I'm choosing not to eat bread, rice or Pasta. Your surgeon should have supplied you with post op instructions on the vitamins required of bariatric patients and when to contact him or her regarding unusual symptoms. I completely believe in airing on the side of caution...please call your surgeon.

Oh I understand. They had us fill out a questionnaire packet and it did ask you to list the weight loss attempts. The psychologist takes a look at it and asks some questions about why things didn't work, what's different now, etc.

My PCP is having cold feet

My PCP said something similar and just gave me a bad vibe. So I skipped her and mentioned the sleeve to my endocrinologist. He was totally on board, was very familiar with the procedure, understood the weight loss battle of his patients. The man is just awesome. Anyhoo, he was the one who referred me. Can't wait to see my PCP this summer for my yearly check up! She probably won't remember me but I'm definitely going to remind her and tell her just how wrong she was. That way if someone else asks her about the surgery...maybe she'll take the time to educate herself and respond positively.

Not sure what you mean? If talking about during the nutrition classes and psych visit..,the nutritionist recommends that you begin some of the lifestyle changes and also recommends that you lose some of the weight prior to surgery, My program wanted to see a loss of some kind. If you gained weight during this process you would be denied the surgery. Two weeks prior to surgery there is an all liquid diet, After the surgery, two weeks again of liquids. Then next two weeks are puréed foods. The next two weeks are soft foods...then whatever your new sleeve can tolerate after that. Hope I've answered your question

    Help?

If you're craving Mexican, try ordering caldo de pollo, minus the rice. The broth is fabulous and tastes like liquid Mexican food.

    NSADS and gout

To get swelling down...elevate your foot so that it is above your heart. Put an ice pack on it for 15-20 minutes, then remove for same amount of time, and continue this off/on pattern. Sometimes folks put a heat pack on to help alleviate joint pain. Be careful with heat as it has a tendency to increase swelling.m if you do use heat always finish with ice. Hope this help & you feel better soon !

    Non existent support from spouse

Just as a comparison...when I told my husband about WLS, he walked with me and didn't accept any of my excuses when I didn't feel like working out. He even fussed at the kids for going near my food. My husband has lost almost 50 pounds throughout this process. I have lost 75 pounds because of his support. I can't even fathom someone who is supposed to be your rock engaging in such a childish, selfish, and downright mean behavior. Don't make excuses for him. What he did just sucks....Believe in your self worth and FIGHT for your health. If you don't ...then who will?

@@mal0712 I got my sleeve surgery through a military program through a major military hospital. Orientation was in June, 3 nutrition classes, psych visit, surgeon visit...then surgery on Dec. 16th. When I started in June, my BMI was 38 with high blood pressure, high cholesterol, water retention and pre-diabetic. So, yes, it took about 6 months.

Post op help needed - hunger

@@bobbyswife Yes, I've been experiencing what I think are hunger pains since I went back to work yesterday. It occurs every 3 hours or so. I basically setup an alarm schedule to remind me to eat something so Imdont get that feeling. So far so good!

    Cold Feet!

Big boned, thick, prettiest big woman, beautiful face, etc...heard it all before. All excuses. The facts are that being Obese/Morbidly Obese will cause your lifespan to be uncomfortable, full of meds/ailments & ultimately shortened.. I'd rather live longer than be the prettiest fat girl in the room.

    My teenage sons

Part of the problem is that people do not understand that obesity is a disease. It is a very difficult one to resolve on our own because unlike other diseases Obesity is multi-faceted and involves: metabolic, genes, mental health, etc. there is no medication that can tackle all theses areas at once. If brilliant scientists can create cures to various diseases but cannot solve the obesity issue, then how do people expect to solve it themselves? This is why 99% people gain the weight back who lose it on their own. 50% of people who get weight loss surgery keep it off permanently. It only makes sense to go with the procedure that will result in the best odds. I was concerned about how my husband and kids would respond to my choice to get the sleeve. But, I shared all of the info I learned from my nutritionist, surgeon, psychologist with them. I also chose to change my lifestyle ahead of time, so that they could see how committed to being healthy I was. As a result, my family supports my decision wholeheartedly, I lost 60 pounds prior to surgery, my husband lost over 40 pounds because he was actually listening to all the info I was giving him!

    dessert options?

OMG! Complete Cookies from Lenny & Larrys. Here's the nutritional info: This delicious Vegan cookie has no preservatives, no dairy products, no animal products, 16 grams of Protein, 6 grams of Fiber, 0 grams of trans fat, is Kosher and all natural. I got the Peanut Butter one from Vitamin Shoppe. It is a very large cookie and is 2 servings at 180 calories each serving. So, I cut the cookie into quarters and eat a quarter a day at lunch time. OMG! They taste homemade!
