Help, please! Premier Protein shakes taste awful to me.. Need recommendations!
ProjectMe replied to blissfulbeing's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I haven't read the entire thread so sorry if these have already been mentioned...but I really like Muscle Milk light already made shakes. I use them as my quick grab and go protein. I use Syntrax Nectar or Unjury for when I make my shakes. -
I love watching others' drama . So I watch: Love & Hip Hop, and Real Housewives of Atlanta and Orange County. Loved Game of Thrones so much I watched all 4 seasons this past summer & can't wait until season 5. I also like True Blood although season 3 is taking me forever to get through! And last but not least, my whole family stops what their doing to watch Downton Abbey...I think we love it so much because it reminds us of when we lived in England.

The dreaded "in-between" stage in clothing sizes - HELP!
ProjectMe replied to Christina T.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand. I order my pants online because I'm 5'10 and very few stores carry Longs or Talls. I hem my petite daughter's pants all the time unless she gets lucky and finds "Short". -

What's with all the "diet" food?
ProjectMe replied to lgrey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed reading about everyone's food choices. I like the idea of clean eating and will continue to do research to A)have a better understanding what constitutes clean eating, develop a plan for myself c) make better food choices in general for me & my family. Now's a good time to work on figuring this out since my tummy is brand spanking new -
No regrets at all! Deciding to get this surgery ranks up there with the best decisions I've made in my life!

The dreaded "in-between" stage in clothing sizes - HELP!
ProjectMe replied to Christina T.'s topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm in between a 16 & 14 and having been toying with the idea of going to a tailor. I just don't have a desire to spend money on clothing I won't be able to wear in a month...tailor or not. So I bought cardigans during old navy's big sale to go over too big shirts & dresses. And I bought two belts to cinch my pants. It'll do for a month or two. Then the cute spring stuff will be out -
How upfront was your surgeon about a goal weight?
ProjectMe replied to MisforMimi's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgeon asked, " What weight did you feel most healthy at?" I said 170 and he said sounds good! -

Clothes size question...
ProjectMe replied to Quest4TheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went into JCPenneys, grabbed a bunch of tops & bottoms in various sizes, then just took my sweet time trying everything on... It was a wonderfully, non stressful, private moment. And I figured out what size I was because I had no idea! LOL! -
Weight loss surgery on Public Radio this morning
ProjectMe replied to Engteacher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
VSG began decades ago as a procedure to remove part of the stomach because of cancer. Procedures, patient weight loss, and research evolved into the VSG surgery we know today. -
Really constipated.. I think...
ProjectMe replied to catlover2565's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Milk of magnesia works wonders and is recommended by my surgeon. The stool softeners do not work well for me by themselves. -
Weight loss surgery on Public Radio this morning
ProjectMe replied to Engteacher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Fran's words, " I thought I was cured" & "I thought I could eat anything" stood out to me. It's nice that they have a safe research proven method for making the stomach smaller again...but at some point we have to take responsibility for what we put in our mouths and how much we put in our mouths. Thank you for sharing! -
@@laurenella82 What types of body wraps were you getting? Did they involve caffeine? I like the idea of wraps if they don't sap my body of moisture or introduce caffeine...

Diet before surgery going too well?
ProjectMe replied to chrispina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 60 pounds prior to surgery. I've heard from others on this site who lost 70-150 pounds prior to surgery. Yet, we still got the surgery. My main reason is that I know I could easily fall into the 99% who gained it all back and then some if I didn't get WLS. 50% who have had WLS keep it off for life. I went with the best odds for keeping it off...WLS. Not to mention obesity is a disease. Would I ignore meds to resolve any other disease? Nope, so why would I not have a medical procedure done to resolve the disease obesity? -

@@Marielbx Good question. Out of curiosity I did a Google search and found quite a few articles. It looks like with Non-malabsorbtive weight loss surgery (I.e sleeve) Your choices of contraceptive remains unchanged. However with something like bypass where it is a malabsorbtive procedure the form of contraceptive may change. My iPad won't let me paste the links in this box. But do a search with the key words, "bariatric surgery and contraception"
-
I can't imagine why a person's form of contraception would change because of abdominal surgery. I could be wrong but wouldn't the decision of contraception type be based on your goals, your body/health, your Dr., and how well you handle certain side effects depending the bc method you choose?

What's with all the "diet" food?
ProjectMe replied to lgrey's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well I kind of wanted to hear from vets their reasonings and/or motivations regarding what they choose to eat or not choose to eat. Now that I've hit reset, now's a good time to learn from others about food choices particularly how their choices affect their weight loss and/or general health...whether the choices are chemicals vs. clean eating. -
That is interesting. Are you hypo? I've never heard of taking thyroid meds solely because of nodules. Nodules in and of themselves are not bad and they grow so slowly (years). If they get large enough, a fine needle biopsy is done and most of the time turn out benign. There is cardiovascular danger to taking too much thyroid medication...particularly if the person is not hypo.

Favorite type of exercise?
ProjectMe replied to CountryGirl5584's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yoga, Nature walk or hike (weather permitting) or Elliptical -
It will not happen for those of us without a thyroid.
