Soooo excited for Valentine's Day!
ProjectMe replied to Mavic's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I completely understand how you feel! Hubby took me to Victoria's Secret last night. He had me try on this hot pink bra & panty set. And OMG, he was in the dressing room with me! I must say that was an experience! I haven't been in VS in 20 years...when did they start allowing your man in the dressing room? I'm still blushing! Needless to say...hubby bought it all then thanked me for the gift of trying everything on in front of him -
One month out (today) and I have a few questions
ProjectMe replied to mhuntoon's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take a stool softener twice a day, drink over 96 oz of fluid, and take 2 tbs of Milk of Magnesa twice daily. If I don't do one of these things, I'm horribly constipated. -

how do you answer the questions from people who don't know you had wls?
ProjectMe replied to whirlwen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I lost 60 pounds PreOp and received lots of questions about what I was doing to lose the weight. I would always answer that I follow a high protein/low carb diet with consistent exercise. After I had the sleeve done (and no one at my work knows), my coworkers just say comments like, "Wow, your lifestyle changes are really working" or they've begun asking me again about what I am doing. And I give them the same response as before. -
8 wks post op still exhausted
ProjectMe replied to rschndr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right about 8 weeks and only experienced tiredness after work a couple of times. Your exhaustion could be a number of things. Anemia being one of them. What and how many multivitamins are you taking? My dr has me on 2 multivitamins w/iron per day. You could also be low on electrolytes. Try mixing G2 with water and sipping it all day. Once you get low on these nutrients, it takes the body a few days to get your levels back up. Also, impress upon your dr the need for bloodwork. Find out where your nutrient levels are ...don't take no for an answer. -
The blog World According to Eggface has a quick, simple & tasty pizza recipe that uses a low carb wheat tortilla as the base. I made it using low carb tomato sauce, mozzarella cheese, artichoke hearts, and mushrooms. You can put whatever you want on yours. It was AWESOME!!! And I ate my 2 slices while my family ate their Papa Johns . I totally did not miss the regular pizza.

I can satisfy my sweet tooth with my evening cinnamon spice tea (decaf) with a splash of chocolate milk. If that doesn't hit the spot, then a 1/4 of a Lenny & Larrys protein vegan cookie.

Replacing the habit of overeating
ProjectMe replied to artblitz's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I recently learned how to crochet . Its helped take my mind off eating unnecessarily in the evening. -
I had such a hard time finding an actual cookbook that had high protein, low carb, nutritional info and color pictures. I finally settled on bookmarking various internet sites that had all of the above. i really like world according to eggface, but unfortunately she doesn't list the nutritional info of her recipes.

Weight loss after sleeve?
ProjectMe replied to Skywalker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Soready2lose As someone said previously, we all lose at a different rate. I pretty much stalled straight after surgery. Two weeks later I saw a small loss...then stalled again. I stall pretty regularly, to the point that I'm surprised to see a loss. I am also only 30 pounds away from goal so my rate of loss is going to be much slower than someone who is 100 pounds from goal. -
Great job! Keep it up!!!

Hurtful? It is very difficult to judge the tone of a board post. I have seen some crazy, irresponsible, "sharing" on boards. So I wasn't sure if you were just giving another example or giving a suggestion. I truly apologize for the confusion and appreciate you taking the time to clear it up. My comment was certainly not meant to be hurtful. Sorry you took it that way.

I was told that caffeine: Stimulates the hunger hormone Is a diuretic Is very hard on the stomach lining
-
I stopped drinking caffeine 8 months ago, prior to surgery, when I found out at bariatric orientation that I could not have it after surgery. Now I can't even stand the smell of coffee and I was a 2-4 cup per day person.

The Rules: Do you follow them?
ProjectMe replied to MichiganChic's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Oh I forgot to add: yes, I follow the rules. One of my biggest fears is cheating my sleeve in small ways only to become cheating in bigger ways. So yes, I follow the rules -
The Rules: Do you follow them?
ProjectMe replied to MichiganChic's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My rules are very similar to yours except I am also not allowed: Caffeinated beverages Alcohol Spicy foods Things I decided not to eat anymore: Potatoes Rice White flour Pasta A rule I added: Exercise daily -
Hope so.

Not sure if you are being facetious ...but drinking to eat more has disaster written all over it. Personally I, like a lot of people, went to a lot of trouble to get surgery, I LIKE the restriction feeling and REFUSE to CHEAT the sleeve. #ChangedMindset

Retaining water
ProjectMe replied to Iowa_summergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Severe edema like what you described can be from a number of things. Please contact your surgeon or PCM for guidance...you will feel better after you make that call. -
Empire is on...gotta go!

Gaining weight pre op
ProjectMe replied to jersey_girl_86's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thyroid meds can be tricky, especially when you don't take them consistently and properly. My thyroid was taken out due to having thyroid cancer. But I've always made sure to take my meds at the same time everyday, on an empty stomach, with nothing to eat for an hour afterwards. I lost 60 pounds prior to surgery following a less than 1200 calorie diet and exercising 4-5xs/week. So while being hypo is a challenge, losing weight is very much doable if you are disciplined and consistent. -
When did you feel "not sick" post op?
ProjectMe replied to GeminiSleever's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@GeminiSleever Recovery time differs on the person. This was my 14th surgery so I Had a good idea what to expect post op. Less anxiety really helps one to feel better quicker. Anywhooo, here are some things I do to help me feel better after surgery: Sip all the time (dehydration makes everyone feel like crap) Mix Water with something with electrolytes (g2) Get out & get fresh air even for a short time & often throughout the day Walk often in small increments (u feel less like an invalid with every walk) Spray a peppermint breath spray in ur mouth (natural pick me up) Take cat naps as often as you feel like... but still get up & get moving -
Everyone's post op instructions differ. So giving you advice may not be the best solution. I was on liquids for two weeks, pureeds for two weeks, then mushies for two weeks, then soft foods for another two weeks. My surgeon & nutritionist gave me a packet describing guidelines of what I could eat at each stage. A site that really helped me with more creative ideas was World According to Eggface.

Understanding something
ProjectMe replied to hevtiger's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Also look into your local school district. They may have an indoor pool for the community at a very low or even sometimes free cost.
