Sept. 8th & 9th Gastric Bypass surgery.

I guess eggs can be really dry & get stuck. A poached egg might be better since it's runny & cooked in water put a touch of cheese on it while it's in the pan then it's going to have a touch more flavor. -

Our menu had refried Beans on it, so I tried them tonight. They went down pretty good. I am so looking forward to egg salad that's sad huh!?! lol Tomorrow we are taking our son to a 4H fair, it should be perfectly terrible smelling all the fair food. It's like being pregnant again I can't stand how things smell. I am looking forward to seeing how excited my son gets about the animals again this year. -

I had a lot of pain as well on that side until I had a bowel movement, I found that miralax once a day is helping me stay "regular" all the Protein is famous for binding you up. Fingers crossed that they have nothing but good news at the apt! I saw your weight loss that's awesome!! I wasn't as heavy as some when I got my surgery so I expect my weight loss to be slow but was surprised to have lost 10 pounds this week as well!! -
Good luck to everyone who's going this week! I just went to the Vitamin Shoppee & had an awesome selection! I also found that the prices were very comparative to big box stores. Plus I also found a product which will be great when I am onto "food" so I can get more protein that you sprinkle on or in anything & you get 10 grams of extra protein it looked a lot like sugar. In the mean time I got plain Designer Weigh protein so I can mix it in my broth/creamed soups ect. Because personally I don't mind the protein I do mind having breakfast all day. They also have a pretty nice rewards program that's free unlike GNC & they take my Health Savings Debit card so that's a bonus. Hope everyone is doing well I can barely believe it's been a week for me!!

Awesome! That's pretty much like my diet, although I like how yours has an extra step. It's the protein it's pretty famous for making people gassy but it can also make some people constipated. -

"Does anyone know if the glue they use to stitch some of us up... Just falls off at some point?" The glue should come off on it's own, as tempting as it is just don't peel it. I think you mentioned that you were having a check-up with your surgeon at 2 weeks s/he may use their remover to take it off & get a better view. I know I can't believe it's been a week already tomorrow! I am nervous about when we can intro thinks like chicken & egg salad but have heard about it getting "stuck" so that should be an adventure. I am going out to pick up some cream soups today to add to the selections. Glad everyone seems to be doing well! -
It's easier then you think you just need to stay positive. Try going for a walk or doing an activity you like that'll distract you; it'll be good practice for when you are post OP & can't eat. I found Knor beef & chicken bouillon powder at the grocery story & that helps mix it up some. I found ice cold water was like an ice cream headache in my belly the 1st couple days but the broth & room temp water was soothing. I just have to brush my teeth & tongue a lot since the broth makes your mouth & tongue feel coated. The 16th isn't very far you just need to be positive & stay focused on the short term goal of getting to surgery! Good luck!!

Glad you are doing well! Have the 10 days flown by? How was your experience with the operation? With eating? Protein? What's working for you what's not? What do you think is making you so tired? Everyone in my cluster seems to have pretty good experiences. There was one gal who had a rough go of it in the hospital but seems to be coming around. My journey to the operating room table was more then a little delayed that day but I went home less then 12 hours after he finished operating on me because I was doing so well. Walking feels great my belly looks like I went rounds with someone it's very bruised. But getting my fluids on & all but 15 grams of my protein. I am so happy I did this for me & my family. I typically hate social media but this sites been so much fun for me during this process.

Nice! A little brave I don't think I would dare eat anything I hadn't made yet! See any stores you'll want to go to once you lose some weight? Just think you'll likely have lost a fairly significant amount around the time everyone is having after Christmas markdown sales so you will be able to splurge on a cashmere sweater for $3!! JCPenny's has a wide range of clothes & awesome sales. I have no idea how you drank your pain meds you go girl!! The thought makes me feel sick! My big outing thus far was to go food shopping with my husband, he doesn't do any of that because I handle the bills & budget. He is a tad lost at the grocery store, lol. Food wise I have only been able to get 45 grams of Protein in as of yet the shakes sit like lead! I found bouillon powder & make broth that way & have had yogurt. It says we can have refried Beans & apple sauce I don't think I could handle either right now. Glad you are doing so well!! -

Awe honey I am so sorry that you had so much gas pain:( I am so glad you are feeling better now! It will only get better my nurse as she was giving me the lala juice to wheel me into surgery was telling me to think about buying new clothes;) I too put on water weight in the hospital but my center warned us about weighing more when we went home because of the number of IV bags they pushed in. Keep us updated on how you progress!! -

I just talked to the nurse on the phone. I explained my follow-up apts with my endocrinologist & PCP, what my BP & sugar have been running. Described my wounds, bruising, my bowels, that I had stopped my pain medication, the level of activity I had achieved as of yet. Nothing I had told her made her think I needed to come in sooner. Our facility I think is managed differently then most, it's part private & part hospital. -

I tried Premier Protein prior to surgery during my sampling phase I thought it was - well kind of nasty had almost a pepto after taste. I am wondering if now it'll taste different? Because I have noticed that things do taste a little different then before. I am thinking about going for another walk pretty soon we took the "puppy" all 150 pounds of him & our son for a stroll around the block earlier. It's so nice out starting to feel like fall here I just want to walk & enjoy the fact sweat won't be pouring off me! So dehydration won't be knocking at my door just for walking. I don't get a post op check-up until October 8th for nutrition, the nurse & the surgeon as well. Then December 1st I check in again with nutrition & have a follow up psych to see how I am adjusting! So far I feel happier then I have in a long while, like I am in control of my body. Anyhow off to enjoy so me time while everyone else naps!! -
I am going in on 9/8 for my gastric bypass! I am about to start the 2nd week of my pre-operative diet which isn't all that bad; the hardest part was pretending life was "normal" during my sons 2nd birthday party this weekend. As we have kept the surgery between myself, my husband, my parents, my brother & my aunt as we have a lot of people who wouldn't understand the choice to get surgery; although I have found everyone loves to support weight loss? My husband sadly find my family is more supportive of him then his own family & although my father doesn't understand the surgery he has wished me well & hopes it works for me. I have been doing a lot of reading and prep work with the program thru the hospital that we are using since mid April, I feel really prepared for the surgery & am so ready to be a healthier mommy for my son. A better roll model who's roll doesn't interfere with showing him now to live a healthy life or riding bikes with him. I look forward to taking less medication. Well I just wanted to put it on there!

I did use gas-x extra strength chewable tabs & I felt like it helped because I could hear my stomach moving a tad & I could burp out some air. Now maybe this would have happened anyhow who knows!! But I felt a little better & the pain eased up faster then the hospital & way more then any narcotic did. Now if only I could have a BM... I started miralax right off because I know from post c-section & other surgeries that the combo of anesthesia drugs & narcotics totally messes with my digestion & makes me wicked bloated & slow. As far as walking goes you'll all get there at your own pace doing your own thing! Here's my motivation the day I came home my husband whose in the medical field was checking my incisions for me just to make sure they were ok. Our 2yo who needs to "help" with everything pushed his way in & he saw momma's booboo's his eyes got all watery he looked at daddy & then gently kissed my belly like I kiss his booboo's :'( So momma who stays home with him wants to be ready when daddy goes back to work to be the best momma so I need to walk & get my strength up. As for the slim fast Q I saw just up top I would say no GNC doesn't sell that type of product Walmart, Target or any other major retail chain should have it. Personally I have been using EAS products they say they are banned product free, they have a lean protein powder, and a couple fruit and veggie ones all sold at most major retailers & GNC. I find making my own they are way thinner then the ready to drink protein drinks they tend to be thicker. I am so glad our group seems to be doing so well!!! -

So several days out stomach is less sore, the gas pains have moved on;). I am finally able to get some protein in as the swelling internally is going down so the thickness of the shakes is sitting better. The water hasn't been an issue as I could meet the 64 ounce goal day 1 -I just have to be careful it isn't too cold because it makes my new stomach a tad crampy. I have been able to walk a mile or more each day according to my up band so that is making me feel good. I hope all my fellow surgery peeps are doing as well!!! I can't wait to start seeing the pounds come off!!! -
Waiting... To go in for weight loss surgery operation
InspirationMySon posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Just siting waiting to go in for my operation. Just found out that the anesthesiologist I was supposed to have is booked off on an urgent case so he is going to find me a subtitle substitute. I am supposed to go in at 1pm for surgery but things seem to be running behind today. No nerves yet I assume they'll kick in when I get in the room with my gown on it'll be more real. -

Yeah they are made by jawbone I love mine. You can get them online at amazon, target or walmart. You can also track your food along with sleep. That's great that they are helping you! -

You'll get there, I walked 5 miles a day prior to operation so I think that helped. I recommend getting an UP band they are pretty awesome & challenge you to beat yourself. I got to go home yesterday it was rough but so glad to be home with my husband, son & our dogs! -

No part of my stomach was removed I didn't get the sleeve I got bypass they leave the remaining stomach in there so it can continue to produce gastric juices for digestion. That's the largest because it's the one he puts his stapler thru that incision. The one where he put in the instrument to hold up my liver looks swell also! My husband works at a surgery center as a biomedical engineer he says the itching in a scar is called "knitting" happens when all the tissues heal & grow back together. -
You can do it! My surgeon says he fixes a lot of esophagus issues post sleeve so if your endoscopy came back with issues I would take his recommendation. There is a lot of gas & reflux with the sleeve a lot more then with the bypass, plus he feels more confident with the bypass results where as with the sleeve it's still "new". I wish you luck I would think you'd still get the same date the operating date the time from what in understand is the same for each surgery in the OR.

Distorted Self Image
InspirationMySon replied to ranece's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Oh good no! I don't think that at all I wanted you to realize you aren't alone. I was/am because obviously I haven't dropped a lot of weight yet a little shocked to see what I look like. I am pretty active & I sometimes just don't expect to see a "fat" person looking back that's all. Even if when I am naked I can see all the physical changes to my body from old surgeries & having a baby & just the state my stomach is currently in makes me a little sad. Hence why I went with life altering surgery to get back to where I might not be surprised when I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror at least not in a bad way
