Insurance Approval Wait times: BCBS?
Mojos replied to mom2kandh's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
BCBs it took a couple weeks but I think it took so long because of the lazy staff at my Dr's office -

I had surgery on September 3 and I can barely eat enough to get all of my protein in every day most days I don't even come close to my protein requirement. At any seating I can only take about 2 to 3 bites of anything before I am full and if I eat any more than that I will get a strong pain at the top of my stomach bottom of my chest for a few minutes. I have lost a total of 41 pounds and I don't think I am losing as fast as a lot of people I have read about.

I had my Post-op appointment today. Down 19lbs since surgery!!! Wish I could keep this pace up but I know it will slow down. It would have taken two months of crappy dieting to lose this much before. So happy I got this done.

Update: For breakfast I was able to drink most of my protein shake and about half of a poached egg. Feeling really full right now.

Scar Creams, Patches, Lotions, etc

My wife always uses Bio-Oil and it has worked great on her scars. I plan on using it as soon as I can. -
I was sleeved on sept 3rd as well. I am back to 100% but the first two days I was sore and lethargic. My Doc has a very lax diet plan compared to most I've read about. The first day I was on clear liquids then moved to full liquids for two weeks but I can start eating very small quantities of soft food. Today I had a protein shake and about 1 oz of chicken for breakfast and lunch and for dinner I had about an oz of Cod with about a 1/2 oz of crushed Peas. I felt full satisfied after each meal.

Let's talk about NSAIDs
Mojos replied to snowkitten's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have to crush mine and drink them in water. Tastes nasty but they work. I didn't receive any liquid pain meds. I do have a pill that dissolves under my tongue I believe it's for stomach spasms. -

I was sleeved at 3pm today and I have a bit more pain than I was expecting. The doc provided me with Norco 7.5/325 and it does nothing for me. Might as well be a water pill. In the am, I will be asking for something stronger. -

Wanted: September Sleevers!
Mojos replied to Liberianne_Gal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgery is tomorrow (9/3/14) at noon! My surgeon (Dr. Atkinson in Las Vegas) had no pre-op diet, I just can't have anything to eat or drink after 10pm the night before surgery. All he asked was for me to NOT gain weight (which I have not). But I got to reading the paperwork tonight and it said "This surgery is usually completed using laparoscopy alone, but circumstances may necessitate conversion of the operation to an open approach for your safety." I am wishing I had a pre-op diet now, but I followed all of his instructions. -

Nervous about psych evaluation....
Mojos replied to bthbck's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Mine was laughable. They asked a few questions about diets I have tried in the past and if I could do a post op diet, asked if I was suicidal or had and mental issues and that was it. I feel it's more of a formality than anything. They just want to make sure you are not crazy and that you realize what you are doing and that you are prepared to handle post op life. -
I am scheduled for VSG on Sept. 3rd. And I am curious if I will ever be able to drink carbonated beverages ever again. Thank you!

Ability to drink alcohol post-op, your experiences?
Mojos replied to PlzCoolerMe's topic in The Guys’ Room
So, will carbonation be an issue for the rest of my life postop?
