    Pureed foods

Why not? I'm starting purée tomorrow and it's on my list of acceptable foods. I'm definitely going to have some within the next few days. I'm totally interested in any food ideas also. There's a post here that mentions refried Beans a lot. I'm afraid of the dairy products but come to think of it the proti Soup is milk based. Good luck on purée. I'm sure u can have mashed potatoes. What the NP restricted was mashed cauliflower or most other veggies and fruits besides creamed spinach and watermelon. Looking forward to those too.
  2. Hi Denise. Thank you. Totally awesome. I'd love to share war stories and meet up. How are you doing so far? Starting moist and mushy tomorrow. So excited! Lol. What kind of foods were you able to eat during that phase? What's changed in your life so far? Oh and where downtown do you work? I'm close by the Freedom Tower. I'm Trudy btw.
  3. Hey Truberry. Congrats on your sleeve. I was sleeved 7/17 also! I returned to work a week later. How are you handling everything with your sleeve?I know you are looking for people in the area, but I live in Atlanta and I am coming to NY to visit hopefully in September to treat myself. I would love to join your meetup if possible. Thanks Wablue. Congrats to you! That sounds like a wonderful idea. So far the sleeve is great. The usual ups and downs. My job pays in full plus benes while I'm off so there's no point not taking advantage. I start mushy and moist tomorrow and I've never been so excited. What are some of the things you plan to eat during that phase? I'm very much looking forward to a new me. Officially I'm down 14lbs. Unofficially 18. But I'll have to wait three weeks for my next doc visit for any more info bc my scale refuses to move and I'm pretty sure it's wrong bc the docs readings were different. How are you doing so far?

    Protein and supplements

For the liquid stage, my nutritionist said one serving of protein was enough. And I should start supplements on stage two - purée. I guess you could just ask your doctor or nutritionist. When I asked my doc post surgery he said to wait until I had the post op visit and met with their nutritionist before I take any supplements. That's on Monday.

    Black Out

I've experienced this. Usually if I bend over and haven't had enough liquids. I don't think, actually I'm pretty sure I'm not getting enough liquids. It's my goal to do a better job with that starting today. And I find if I start the day with Protein I'm better off. I'm not at the stage where I need to get 60 or 70 oz. Yet but even just the first ten oz being protein helps me a lot.

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

it's a book that they provide all there patients with sorry it's made by the hospital I had my surgery atOh poo. I guess I'll wait and see what they have for me at my first post op visit on Monday. I also have a seminar or something with their nutrition afterward. Then I'll have to start all these vitamins. Or do they suggest waiting until phase two. I think the original nutritionist did. Can't recall. Doc said to wait until after this visit though. I take biotin chewable a everyday anyway just bc I'm dreading the upcoming hair loss.

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

How do they determine this shift so soon? I was sleeved on the 17th. I thought you had to do each phase for at least two weeks. I'm not loving the liquid diet but, honestly the way things feel once they hit my stomach I'd be afraid to try anything more complex ATM. Congrats though. I can't wait for phase 3. I'm dreaming of eggs and other foods too as it is even though I don't really want to eat them. I have trouble just drinking liquids regularly. I'm pretty sure I'm not getting the recommended daily allowance. I've gulped water a few too many times today. It feels so good going down and then it gets to my tummy. No bueno. I'm looking forward to easier days.

    hunger

I'm barely hungry. I forget to drink my liquids at times eventually after a long time my stomach will remind me. Maybe you are eating too much sugary stuff. Sometimes that makes you feel hungry faster. If u feel really hungry have a sugar free ice pop. What stage are you currently in? I'm only one week post op at this point. I've lost about 14lbs so far. Feeling ok. I'm ready to get up get out and do something though. I'm starting to rethink this six or seven week hiatus from work.

    HAIR!

I'm definitely dreading this. I have super thick hair and hope that will help to minimize the appearance of loss. I've been taking biotin for over a month now since was before my sleeve took place last week. Seems like it's just one of those things I'll have to endure. But if it grows back healthy I guess I can deal with it.

They just told me nothing after midnight and that was fine. I got drunk the night before on the last beers I'll ever drink. I don't like beer all that much anyway.

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

U must have had hernia repair? ? I had the really bad Esophageal spasms also...thought I was dying. They lasted a wk for me...they do calm down. I seen my internists an surgeon last wk...my internists said all nerve endings have been cut Theyr going to spasms. ..hang in there it kept me from wanting to swallow also..I stayed 2 days in hospital to stay on iv fluids bc of spasms...I new if I left I'd end up right back in ER with dehydration. But I was ready to go home by end of day 2 an went home that night. My internists called me in some lidocaine spray to spray way way back in me throat to swallow to numb the esophagus call an ask ur surgeon or internist if u have one to call u one in..don't spray in front of mouth then ull feel like u do at dentist lol...just way back in throat...it does get better if u don't get the spray...I grabbed my chest with every dang swallow I no how an wat ur goin thru..it's normal. ..I'm 2 wks out an def stand by my decision. ..hang in there!! No esophageal repair. Some things go down easier than others. I experience the pain when whatever I've consumed actually hits my stomach. Water sucks. Shakes are ok. Jello is especially bad. Broth is also a little iffy. Taking the percocets are no fun at all. But they help make things easier. I've been to the potty several times today and when I have to go it really hurts. My sister brought me muscle milk. Seems to be going down alright. I was drinking brown rice protein mixed with Apple juice before and that was alright too. Doc suggested waiting until our first visit to start the supplements.

    JULY 2014 SLEEVERS GROUP

Hi. Had my procedure on Thursday, ?July 17th. I've been in and out of consciousness. I've been pretty unsuccessful getting in 48 oz. per day. Mostly bc I'm sleeping so much and trying to avoid the pain that comes after swallowing. I get up and walk around. I've showered. I do have slight cravings but it's usually when I realize I am in fact hungry then I get something in as soon as possible. Any suggestions?
