Just wow
-
I love this post because I have little self control and as a result I was morbidly obese (ok I am still technically morbidly obese but after losing 5lbs I will just be plain old "obese"). I know that I would NEVER have lost 50lbs without my band. Never. Yes I have to make good choices and I am a complete newbie at this but I know this for sure. So while I pat myself on the back for working the band, I know that without it I would never lose weight and I would be a miserable 300lb plus woman huffing and puffing.

Seeing surgeon for fills?
briefs199 replied to briefs199's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No I only have 2.5cc. Oh well. I will ask the nurse next time. -
Went for a fill today and the receptionist said that after my next fill I have to see the surgeon for fills v the nurse practitioner. Why would that be? I'm at NYU if that rings any bells for fellow patients.

Me too

I'm almost ready to start my ore op diet in 2 days. How are the November people doing?

Got a second fill this morning. I'm now at 3.5cc. Just enjoying my tomato soup again.

First time under 300lbs in 13 years!

What a way to start a day!! Keep up the good work and congrats!! -
I started out at 315 and I'm about 267 now and basically no one has noticed who doesn't know I had surgery. Then again I don't like to mention people's weight so if someone noticed they haven't said anything.

Appointment at the bariatric surgeon
briefs199 replied to gowalking's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Your surgeon is super tiny and skinny. I can attest!!! -
I went to NYU as well. It's a center of excellence for bariatric surgery. Sounds like you may be on Long Island. Check out LIJ or North Shore as well if you don't want to go to the city. Make it convenient so you get your fills

Treatment to prevent scars?

I would ask your doctor. Make sure your sutures are totally closed. Ask at your 7 day follow up -
How do you deal with mucus from a cold?
briefs199 replied to Deedee13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get this stubborn mucus as well mucinex does not help me. It's like the mucus just won't leave. I have done some alternative medicine during these times like acupuncture or foot massage. It helps every time. Those darn post nasal drips can go on for weeks for me and I hack and hack. Good luck. You also may try a Neti pot or hot water with peppermint oil and out a towel over your head. -
Sorry my husband works Sunday so I have no child care but keep me updated on the next one. Sorry to miss it!!!

I found that the last week I started to "test" my band. I could go into a whole psychological analysis of why I did this (another post) but that's another time. I did things like snack at night, drank too much wine, ate fast etc. just to see what happens. And you know what? I did all the things that come with that like feel nauseous, run to the bathroom at work afraid of throwing up, and actually had some food come back up. I'm like a teenager testing my parents. Hopefully I'm past my rebellious stage! Anyone else find themselves doing this?

Really need to get back on the healthy eating train. Have to get some band friendly eats in the house!!!
