Awesome!!! Congrats

Why not go back to the surgeon and get a fill? Every surgery will be hard work. If after rebooting you aren't doing well, then consider a revision. Don't be embarrassed. They have seen it all

So sorry for your loss. I lost both my parents in my late 20s and 30s. Both times I took care of them for many years with my sister. Know that he appreciated every little thing you did to help him be more comfortable whether conscious or not. It truly is a gift to assist someone going to "the other side" even though it hurts on such a visceral level when they are gone. Take some time after he goes to his final resting place and take care of yourself. He would want it that way.

Had surgery 5 yrs ago but never had a fill. Is it too late?

Definitely. That's the beauty of the band. You can always adjust! Just don't go on a Monday to his office. The place is crazy!!! You want to get him when he's not so busy. Actually it's hard to see him. I have seen Dr Schwak but I heard Dr Ren is amazing and patient so maybe if you can't see Fielding you can see Ren. -

After I get a fill I usually lose a few pounds because I'm on liquids. A lot of people do liquids to restart -
When the band works TOO well...
briefs199 replied to TheProfessor's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I just had a fill a few weeks ago. It's only now that I'm noticing it has really dimmed my appetite. It's actually so much that I'm worried but if I'm eating a half cup of food, isn't that what we should be doing? I find it hard to believe I can really be satisfied with so little food. How did everyone come to terms with this? -
Is it better for your band and esophagus to drink something and get it right up or wait until your body brings it up. I'm talking times when you have done all the other tricks to try to get it down and thy have failed. I know not getting stuck is healthier but if it happens should I get the food out of the esophagus quickly or does it not matter?

Can you get down Gatorade? Try that. You are dehydrated. Rest and Gatorade even if you water it down

My doctor said NO to surgery!
briefs199 replied to bhopeful's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My PCP gave me the idea of WLS which totally took me off guard. I didn't think about it before. I just knew I couldn't lose weight. After I had the surgery I had to get a new PCP because my old one moved. I told her I had a lap band and she didn't know what it really was. I was shocked. I mean she is a PCP and obesity is probably one of the biggest challenges patients are facing. How could she not know about lap bands? She didn't seem up to speed on WLS in general. It was then that I was grateful to have such an open minded PCP when I did. Ironically she suggested WLS the first time I met with her. I would suggest working backwards and finding a surgeon and then a new PCP like others suggest. -

I haven't lost in 3 months due to some poor choices. I went back to my doctor and he was like No Biggie! Gave me a fill. Go back to your doctor and see what they say. The beauty with the band is you can do that! -
What is the date?

September 17th, 1st day of the rest of my life!
briefs199 replied to starosen's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was the last surgery for the day so I asked if I could stay overnight. Glad I did. As long as you are discharged before 24 hours from your surgery your insurance will pay. I was able to get IV pain relief when I needed it and was up waking the halls a bunch of times during the night. I knew I wouldn't have much help after my surgery with my kids around and my husband so keep this in your back pocket. -

You are in good hands at NYU. I had my band placed by Dr Ren's husband. They really believe in the band and are willing to do all the follow up that is required by successful band patients. I am 11 months out and lost 66lbs. I still have about at least 45 to go or more but I am thrilled overall. I honestly think that if you do what you are supposed to do and not do what you aren't then any WLS can be successful. I remember right before my surgery I met with Dr Fielding because I too was not sure if I should get the sleeve or band. I asked him what do I need to do in order to be successful with the band. He said it's easy. 1. Eat slowly and in small bites and 2. Show up for follow ups. I said "I can do that". Now I don't always follow the rules and I can see the scale not move but I do mindfully eat now slowly and carefully. I do follow up monthly to adjust. Good luck. You don't need it ???? -
I am officially under a BMI of 40 11 months after my band. I have gone from 315 pre surgery to 246. I have been in a stall but went back for a fill and seem to be back on track
