  1. I have never had GERD/reflux my entire life. I have never even had regular heartburn. The last 2 weeks I have woken up with acid in my esophagus. Today I had reflux all day. I took a Pepcid but I'm scared about this new symptom. I have not been eating that great but I have eaten worse. Anyone have GERD after banding? I'm about 18 months out.
  2. I haven't had a true stuck moment in a while but I have had to get up during business lunches and bend over in the bathroom to get the food down. I notice of I'm sitting in a soft chair or a low chair I get stuck more often. Weird. Glad you got through it!
  3. If you are having migraines it could tighten your band. Maybe get a little fluid out until migraines go away. See how it goes. Keep us updated!
  4. I tried to use GENEPRO in my coffee this morning but it got lumpy and then I found a lot at the bottom when I was done. Anyone have a trick for me to get it to blend smoothly? My coffee mug is probably 1.5 cups

    Need some motivation

I was banded 11/2014 and lost about 65lbs including pre op. I gained 15 back the last few months and I'm starting back journaling all my food. So I'm right here with ya!

    Stomach virus and lapband

Why when you try to throw up is it difficult when you are banded?

    Feeling defeated by Cigna

I think there is a company who specializes in writing appeals. Anyone remember its name?

For the veterans. Am I too tight?

Today I had a hard time eating anything so I'm going to get a slight unfill tomorrow. I'm always hungry because I can't eat enough to last me more than 2 hours. Hoping taking about 2.5cc will make the difference or maybe just 1.
  10. I got a fill last Thursday 2/4. It was fill of 0.5cc. I'm not sure how much I have in my band but I think it's about 6cc. After I was on liquid and mushy and back on regular food every time I eat I get this loud gurgling and while I'm not stuck it's loud and embarrassing. My restriction is high. I also have a hard time eating before 2-3pm. The morning is really hard even if it's yogurt and Soup with quinoa yesterday was a chore. After about 2-3pm my band gets looser and it's easier to eat. I am losing weight but wondering if this is too tight. I'm writing this after eating some oatmeal and trying not to have the gurgles be too loud for coworkers.

I'm going to try a smoothie in the morning. See how it goes.

    Stuck on fish?

Anyone else have an issue getting stuck on fish such as salmon and other meaty fish? I tried to order this a few times at business lunches and it's not been successful. I have learned to slow down and take small bites so it's not a complete stuck episode but I have to go to the bathroom and lean over to get it to go down. This last fill that I got last week is really giving me restriction. I have to be very mindful (not a bad thing!) of what I eat now.

    Preop diet weight loss

I lost about 20-25lbs on the pre op diet!

    Need a fresh start...

Thanks for the post. I really can relate to being complacent in your weight loss even though you need to lose more and not really losing for 6 months. Been there! I thought my fill was good but went to my doctor for my gallbladder and she said "you are going in the wrong direction. Time for a fill " I was eating the wrong things but my fill level was allowing it. Now I physically cannot eat that junk and need to make better choices so don't feel like you have to do this on your own. See what your doctor says!

    Gall bladder surgery

Go get an ultrasound. I don't think nausea is a side effect but usually pain is. However everyone is different.

    Gall bladder surgery

I had a very slight gall bladder pain on Christmas Eve and after a sonogram I was told I have gall stones. I'm going to meet with my surgeon soon (no further pain since that one time for about 10 minutes) but wondering if I had surgery would I have to get my band unfilled before? Also anyone have advice on whether I should just bite the bullet and get it out now or wait to see if it will get worse?

    Gall bladder surgery

Met with my doctor and she suggested that I get out my gall bladder now when I'm not having issues and it's not inflamed etc. it would have to come out eventually. So I will be making an appointment to get it out in the next few months. No rush.

    Chasing green? Try this

Thanks for this post. I have been the same weight for about 6 months and actually gained 5lbs the last month or so. I just got another fill yesterday but it's important for me to take responsibility for my poor choices such as too much wine and chips at night. I'm going to be checking in here more often as well.

Thanks. Talked to my sister who also is a nurse. She suggested getting it out before I have an attack

    Any November Bandsters

I am a November 2014 bandster. Down about 75lbs post op. Good luck!
  21. I just love your wise posts. Thanks for this. I have been struggling with some issues with my son and it made me think of all the great things that have happened since I lost weight. Just today I was running across the street when the countdown clock said 10 seconds. I would have waited last year this time. I actually bounced!

    Wondering

I was banded 11/2014. I was 315lbs before pre op diet and am now 237. I don't exercise so this is all my eating changes. I also had a last minute "maybe I should be getting the sleeve" moment and even made an appointment with my surgeon to ask if I should change. Now if you want to get the sleeve you should. I'm not bashing anyone's WLS decision. But if you have done your research and have made an intelligent decision to get the band don't listen to the hype of other people who don't believe in the band anymore or who had to revise. Because there are plenty of people who revise from sleeve to bypass too! I asked my dr what do I need to do to be success with the band. He said it's easy (my doctor has had a band for over 10 years himself so he is in the best position to tell me). 1. You have to eat slow 2. Show up for follow up appointments the first year at least once a month. It put my mind at ease. I could do that! And I have done that and have been successful. I have had no complications. I have learned to slow down and have not had any stuck issues in months. Read as much as you can and go on you tube and read here and then you will see what is right for you and your personality and talk to your doctor about your concerns. Good luck! I was a wreck right before my surgery. That's totally normal.

    Help! Advice needed

I had the band about 13 months ago and am down 75lbs. I think that any WLS will work as long as you follow the rules. Your BMI is not that high. Will you qualify for surgery? Usually insurance requires a BMI of 40 or 35 with comorbitities. I have had no complications. If you are really interested in the band I would find a doctor that is supportive. Don't get the band with a reluctant Doctor. Good luck! I too wanted something reversible and also adjustable.
  25. I'm having some pain there. I am going to see the doctor next week but anyone have the same pain? I'm worried about gallbladder issues.
