  1. I was in a somewhat similar situation with regards to insurance coverage and time frame. I had to revise from the band to the sleeve because I had esophageal dilation, then all the fluid removed. The entire time my team told me to just not gain weight because I was already under 40 BMI and had no co-morbidities. We set a date, I completed all of the prep and my surgeon submitted the paperwork. I received notice that I still needed to lose 5% and had 2 weeks to lose 10.8 pounds or my surgery would have to be rescheduled (they were booking 2 months out)...Grrrr! I lost 10 pounds in that time frame by following the pre-op diet and daily cardio. Resubmitted, with the thought that it wouldn't be approved because I missed the mark by 0.8 pounds😒. But it was!! It was stressful because I nearly had to weigh-in naked to document the 10.8 pound loss on the very last day the surgery could still be considered, and I was so close (I wouldn't have even need to cut off an arm to make goal!). Sometimes the insurance companies will surprise you and do what is right! I concur, the diet is challenging, but you can do this! I had to follow it for a month (two weeks for the power weight loss sprint, then two weeks truly for the assigned pre-op diet). Yikes! I don't know if it got easier or I just became delirious and convinced myself that I was eating real food, but I survived. You definitely can and will, too!!! Think positive; it is so worth having the mindset that your surgery will progress as planned...so be prepared!😊

I keep reading about people having difficulty swallowing sips of water/fluid and I am having none of that. I can't/don't guzzle, but can swallow mouthfuls (about three swallows worth of/per mouthful) consecutively with seconds in between. Again, I fear that I had the placebo sleeve! 😒😅😁

Gastric sleeve friends a year out or more

Yikes! That's horrific. 1 week, 1 month, quarterly for the rest of the year, then annually.

Uh oh...7 weeks?! I am ready for the incision/removal pain to be over and I am only 1 week out!

I have been taking naps each day, but not overly tired. I almost lie down because I feel that is what I am supposed to be doing. Hope it resolves soon for you.

One week post-op... Almost back to normal. Some incision pain, especially where my band port used to be. Hurts to cough or sneeze, though. I brings a tear to my eye. Eating (rather drinking) is rather routine. I am hitting my protein targets each day, but sometimes struggle with 64 ounces of fluid. I get tired of drinking and if I don't start early enough, I find myself marathon drinking (sometimes with daily protein included) before bed, which necessitates getting up at least four times to go to the bathroom! On the day of surgery, I weighed 210.8. When I was discharged I weighed 218.4 (that's a lot of fluid!). Today I am at 204.2, which technically is a weight loss of 14.2lbs for the week. But in reality, I am down 6.6lbs this week and am stoked about it. Especially since I am a band to sleeve converter and "lose slower".
  11. I know, right?! 10 weeks!! Not a typo.

Same here!! Not as hungry as before maybe but I definitely get hungry!! See my doc tomorrow and will ask if he really took anything out!! 😂 That's how I feel! Will be asking on Friday (no pain either). I fear that I have been punked!
  13. Per my surgeon, I will be on soft/pureed foods for 10 weeks (after 2 weeks of liquids) which lands right in the middle of the holidays!

    Revision from lapband to sleeve

I was diagnosed with esophageal dilation in February, had all of the fluid removed. Four years ago, I wasn't ready mentally or physically to have such an invasive procedure, but was okay with have the band placed. Over four years of watching M6PL, sleeves just seemed like a normal procedure and not as scary as I thought it would be. When the discussion turned to refilling or removing my band, I was ready to take the next step for a more permanent solution. I actually loved my band, and although I gained weight while it wasn't filled and never got to goal, I consider my band a success. Without the band, I was probably heading to my very own special episode of M6PL!!!😂

I have everything filled out within My Surgery>Progress (left hand side menu) and made sure that my information is public. My Surgery is found in the drop down menu under your name at the top right. To get the ticker in the signature, under My Ticker complete the ticker and then check to include it in your signature. If you have already done this, then I am not sure.

How did you pick your user name?

Just paying homage to Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo, the all-time worst movie/franchise that I couldn't get enough of when I was a kid! I thought Ozone (Shabbaa-Doo) was sooo fine! Ahh, childhood. 😊

Band to sleeve revision, 10/10. Just returned from a one-mile walk. Gained 8 pounds of fluid during hospital stay. Finally back to pre-surgery weight. Had major constipation for the first 3 days, but normal now. Feeling as well as could be expected. Slight nausea, little pain, well managed.
  18. I had my sleeve revision on October 10th. While in the hospital, I had a weight gain of 8 pounds from IV fluids. After being home for 2 days, I am back to my pre-surgery weight. Now the true weight loss begins.

    Revision from lapband to sleeve

I had my band placed July 2014, removed/revised to sleeve October 10th. I think for weight/date update, go to My Surgery > Progress. What else is up?

Thanks for sharing, @@JustWatchMe! I have never been a drinker; my poison: carbs. I thought I would be one of the 'lucky' ones who could not tolerate eating bread, rice, Pasta, potatoes, PIZZA!!. But alas, I am not. I can eat anything (including chicken) and unfortunately I know this because I have tried them all with great success! UGH! pizza is my downfall (oh and pastries). I am back to abstinence. As previously mentioned, I also signed up for a boot camp that began this past Monday. It is kicking my butt literally and figuratively! I am enjoying it and dying at the same time. B- shake S- greek yogurt L- tuna salad D- ? Congrats on getting it done, Shannon! Have a great day!

Hello Everyone! Thanks for the warm welcome. I have been pretty much at a standstill for the past 6 months, losing and gaining the same 5-7 pounds. I am onward and downward. I started a boot camp this week (6days/week, 3 kickboxing/3 strength training), so hopefully that will jumpstart my weight loss so I can reach my goal. Burned 484 calories in kickboxing today. Whoot! Pre workout - Protein shake B - greek yogurt w/1T granola, 1T craisins S - cheese stick/10 almonds L - tuna salad S - Protein shake w/fiber D - ground turkey, cheese slice, green Beans
