Pre-Op Diet Emotions
ElectricBoogaloo replied to irol888's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh no! Emotions can definitely be raw during this process. It gets better! FWIW, most broth boxes are designed to have the seal break when you twist the top (similar to Muscle Milk Light protein shakes); if you listen you can hear it rip and can then feel the seal inside the container. -
Congratulations!! Well done!

@fluffychick This is great. I also try to say no then provide some type of assistance similar to the last bullet (ex. I can't, but can I suggest some people who might be able to help you? or I can't now, but will have time [fill in the blank: next week, month, year, etc or would you like to strategize on how you can best manage your time to accomplish this (ha!)...)

I came in with a plan and didn't veer from it: turkey with gravy, greens, tbsp of sweet potatoes and macaroni & cheese, a taste of sweet potato pie (not good, too sweet), and passed on the dressing. Unfortunately, I only ate 50g of protein and was on the lower end with water for the day. -
Not feeling full - can eat a “normal” size portion
ElectricBoogaloo replied to Pink nova's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am not often hungry and never have been able to eat a large amount of food at one time..but started grazing and stress eating...proactively work on both issues. My approach will be to not overeat, even if I have room to eat more, which is unfortunately how I have maintained the weight gain (65#) from pregnancy in the first place. Prior to pregnancy, I was in the normal weight category and remained that way because I watched what I ate (as did all of my normal weight, "naturally thin friends") and adjusted...some might call that a diet, but mindful eating was a way of life for me. Post-pregnancy, let's just say, I didn't return to it. I have lost weight a number of times since pregnancy, but couldn't maintain it. So, if my team can give me a formula that I can easily follow (amount per meal and number of meals/per day) to maintain the my new weight, I am inclined to follow it. I have tried it my way and was not successful. -

What do you eat in the airport?
ElectricBoogaloo replied to insta_adventurer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some airports have 7-11. Next flight try to find the larger newsstands (not the kiosk type) for example, Hudsons, those named after cable networks (CNN, Times, CNBC, etc.) usually have wls friendly options. -

Thawing partial fish fillet?
ElectricBoogaloo replied to notmyname's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Cook the filet, eat what you want, then freeze the remainder. When you reheat, it should taste like fish from a frozen/microwaved meal. -

What do you eat in the airport?
ElectricBoogaloo replied to insta_adventurer's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am taking my first trip tomorrow PO and plan on packing food for the plane. I am still on soft foods: Babybel cheese, tuna fish salad (with ice pack...will also see if they will let yogurt through), a few crackers (allowed), grapes, apple slices, protein bars. Most airports have Chobani yogurt, hummus snack packs...can't eat the pretzels, protein shakes (I see Muscle Milk most often for about $5-$6😒). If I am hungry and have to buy food, without the time to sit at a restaurant, I would preference Chick-fil-a (grilled chicken nuggets), Chipotle/Qdoba (burrito bowl salad with chicken, no rice [sub lettuce], no sour cream, no cheese) and if I had to eat at McDonalds...I hate McDonalds...(egg mcmuffin without the muffin).
