In Process of trying to pursuade Belguim to band me
kathystrick replied to siouxsie sioux's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi and welcome to the site. Good luck to you getting your band! -
Hi there, I'm a newbie.....
kathystrick replied to gwenie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Gwenie! Congratulations on your decision to get the band. There is a lot of information on here about doctors in Mexico. Sounds like you are well on your way to having all of your pre-op stuff taken care of. From what I have read, the liquid diet pre-op is worse than post-op, but not all doctors require the full liquid pre-op, so that's good. Anyway, good luck to you in finding a doctor and welcome to LBT! -

I have seen it, but share the feelings of others here about the host. I am hoping there might be some info on the website about dealing with the head hunger. -

kathystrick replied to skinnymike's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, Mike and welcome to Lapband Talk! To find information on your specific insurance, you would probably do better to either use the search option at the top of the page or post your question under the insurance heading. More people are likely to see it there. Good luck to you!! -

This is me now and at 200. Will I EVER be there??? -
Ashley, I know it's hard right now because of the trouble you had with your WBC, but you have gotten over that hurdle and things are looking up again! When you start second guessing if you are making the right decision, just come here and look around. Read some of the success stories, look at the before and after pics. You have so much life ahead of you and every right not to have to live it fighting your weight every step of the way. I have a son not much younger than you, and I really wish I would have had this option when he was young. Both of our lives would have been so different. You aren't just making this decision for yourself, now, you are doing this for your future and everything you want it to be. Keep your chin up and good luck to you!!

Mollie, Congratulations on making the decision to make your future a healthy one! This site is a great place for information and support. I think at some point in this journey we have all been confused and afraid. Just educate yourself as much as you can and if you have any questions, ask them! Hi! I lived not far from Myrtle Beach a few years ago when I first got married. I know the liquid diet is rough, but you are so right that it will be worth it in 5 days. Good luck and let us know how surgery goes! -

I am having my surgery at Baptist in Columbia. My doctor is with the Weight Management Center there. It seems once you get the ball rolling things move along pretty quickly, as long as your insurance company is cooperative. I meet with the doctor next week and then will be submitted to insurance. I will keep my fingers crossed for you! Stay in touch and let me know how things are progressing. Good luck!! -

Lap Band Surgery Recovery
kathystrick replied to lulualabama's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
And some less. I think it depends on a lot of factors, such as the physical demands of your job, pain tolerance, etc. I have read on here where some have gone back to work within 48 hours and some have been a week or more. -

gaining weight before being banded???
kathystrick replied to bandfan1's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am just starting my own pre-op diet (dr. only requires 2 week Atkins-type diet). Initially, I lost about 5 pounds, but have slowly been creeping back up .5 - 1 pound at a time. A lot of us go through last supper syndrome, which can cause weight gain, so don't stress out too much about putting on a few. Just try to control how much you eat and balance any "slips" with some healthy eating and exercise to keep any gain from being too dramatic. I can't imagine a few pounds would matter too much, but your dr. might not liek ti if you really start packing on the pounds because it will make performing the surgery more difficult. Good luck!! -
Kris, I am so sorry what should be an exciting time for you is adding so much stress because of others. There is some good advice here on how to deal with your situation. No one can control us unless we let them and your mother sounds like a very controlling person. This is YOUR journey, don't let her ruin it for you. You have every right to be excited and happy about the new start you are giving yourself. Stop stressing and LIVE IT!! My doctor's office provides what it calls a Bari-Buddy to help people who don't have other resources through the process. This is just someone who has already been through the process and is willing to help their "Buddy" in any way they are needed. That includes being with them through surgery and after. See if your doctor's office offers anything similar. Don't let someone else's need to be in control take away from the happiness of this time for you. Good luck and let us know how things go!

Hi, Jennifer and welcome! Good luck to you!!
-
Hi Susan and congratulations on getting your band and your AWWESOME weight loss!! You are off to a wonderful start. Welcome to LBT and good luck to you!!
-
Sorry for your problems, but don't give up!! Even with the wait, it will be SO worth it once you finally have your band in place and are on your way to a more healthy future. There are MANY people here who have had various problems with their insurance companies. To find how other people have handled Kaiser, do a search for Kaiser and the threads should pop up. Also, check out the forum on insurance. You will see you are not in the boat by yourself when it comes to fighting the insurance company. Good luck to you and hang in there!!
