I'm staying on plan today because I haven't done very well the past couple of days and I am afraid the scale is going to move the wrong way when I weight in tomorrow.:huh2:

    Keeping it a secret?

Ok, so I thought I was doing pretty well picking and choosing who I shared my upcoming surgery with. Then I found out that my mother has made it the hot topic of conversation not only with various extended family members but also her entire Sunday School class!! So much for my choice of privacy!

    80's Trivia

I have to say, I somehow managed to avoid ever owning a pair of parachute pants, thank goodness!!! I do, however, have a few great blackmail pictures of my chubby little brother striking a pose in his during his break dance days. :grouphug:

    Lap-band op on Monday!!!

Congratulations, Gingercat! I am still pre-op, so can't say if your excitement is natural from personal experience, but I would think it is. I hope I feel the same when it's my turn! Good luck and post as soon as you feel up to it!

Thanks, Noela. There are no guidelines for the length of that wait, so all I can do is wait! The head part really is the hardest, isn't it? It really requires a lot of delving into yourself and all those ugly emotions that trigger your appetite. I hope doing that before surgery will help make post-op easier. The main thing for me has been learning to recognize when I am actually hungry and listen to that over my head. That can be really hard to do sometimes. Glad you are doing do well and look forward to joining you in Bandland soon! I will keep you updated.

    80's Trivia

My husband would love it if I would still do the big hair. I'm like, dude...when was the last time you even saw a can of Aqua Net?? My first hair band concert was GnR opening for Motley Crue. Seems like a lifetime ago. But I do still listen to both.

    Would You Wear a Mini-skirt?

Yes, I would. And at 5'10", I would wear heels with it too!

    Size goal vs Pound goal

I started at 328 lbs. and size 26. At 225 lbs. I can wear size 18 and misses XL and feel good about myself and my size. Once I get there again, I will decide if I want to go lower. If I do, it probably won't be much.

    Just a wonderful experience!

I attended my first support group Wednesday night and also thought it was a great experience. I didn't think I would enjoy it as much as i did either, but all of the sharing and encouragement was almost overwhelming. Talking to people on here who are going or have gone through the same things is one thing, but to actualkly meet them and share in person was entirely an different experience.

    Doctor From Hell

I told my PCP they might request a letter from him, but when I went to my Ob/Gyn, she was so excited about me having surgery that she actually asked me what I needed my record to say should they request it! So we went over a few things and when I went back to my surgeon's office, I told them by all means, to request my record from her! I can't believe your PCP is so into herself! Glad you are changing and hope you can get over the hurdle. Good luck!

    Mushies Question

Hi and welcome to LBT! Check out this thread for suggestions on what to eat at the various stages. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f9/lap-band-food-stages-lists-suggestions-3995/ Good luck!
  14. Exactly. A lot of men who are insecure themselves marry overweight women because they are easier to control and insult because they don't fight back. Once they have WLS and lose their own insecurities, the women realize how much better they deserve to be treated and won't take the BS off their husbands anymore. She said if you already have a solid relationship, it will most likely only improve as you lose weight because so many aspects of the marriage and you as a partner will improve.

I wish that were the case here! I would be well on my way to being an all new, slimmer, healthier me if it were!

    Pre-Band

I am really getting tired of saying that..."pre-band" I don't think I will EVER have insurance approval!! But it HAS only been about 10 days, so I really have no right to complain. Some people wait a lot longer than that! My pre-op diet is going MUCH better! I have lost 10 pounds already! Having a hard time with food the past couple of days. I think I just need to get my head screwed back on right. Work has been chaotic because of testing, so lunck schedules are messed up and I have been spending all morning in someone else's classroom, so hoefully that is part of it and it will get better next week. I sure hope so! I don't want to step on that scale Monday morning and see a higher number!! Went to my first support group meeting here in town last night. Only 4 of us showed up, but it was the first time, so it should get better. The only problem is that after next month, the meetings will move from Wed. night to Mon. night and I have to work! That really took the wind out of my sails because I was SO looking forward to being able to attend a group locally!! I'm going to try to work something out if I can. Afterall, it is only 1 night per month. We'll see I guess!
  19. It is hardly a "quick fix" either. SO many people say that regarding any WLS, but that statement actually only shows their ignorance about what success with the procedures entails. You will find that a lot of us don't tell people we are having surgery and the negative comments are the very reason, for me at least. But as IndigioGirl said, it is YOUR life and YOUR decision. Ultimately, the only person you have to justify it to and make happy is yourself. I was at a support group meeting last night and the comment was made that from the time you decide to have surgery and on through the course of your weightloss, you will lose friends, some you have had all your life and some people will even lose their spouse because they can't handle the changes in you. She said you have to know that when you make the decision for surgery and be prepared to deal with it. Good luck!

    Hi I'm new

This section is a good place to start: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f213/. It's the FAQ section. You've already posted your introduction, so that's good. Also, look at the sections on Doctors and Hospitals to see if there is any information about yours and this: Minnesota Lap Band Support - Lap Band Talk Forum - The largest forum for Lap Band Surgery Discussion and Lap Band Surgery Support is the link to the Minnesota support thread. Good luck and hope this helps!

    One Day Post-op

Sorry you had a rough night. I know what you mean about that chiropractor...very addictive and nothing like it for that pain. Hope you get to feeling not quite so uncomfortable soon!

    Grr. Email etiquette.

How about the use of "professional sounding" email addresses? As someone who also works in education, I have a hard time responding to an email from a student with an address such as, thickandsexy69@emailme.com. Not very professional looking when you are corresponding with colleges, jobs, etc.

    I have a complaint!

That was Geometry for me. I could not grasp the concept of these letters and numbers making this graph. WTF??? I scraped by with a D and a lot of pity from the teacher. The kids now use school provided graphic calculators. I thought using a calculator was cheating??
