    I'm a newby

Hi and welcome to LBT. Congratulations on getting your date. Glad things went so easily for you. Hopefully the rest of the process will be just as easy and painless. Good luck!

    Hi there!

Hi and welcome to LBT! We have all failed at previous diet attempts, so you are far from being alone in that boat. Fortunately, we now have the tool of the band to help us be successful where we have never been able to before. Good luck to you! I see you have quite a bit of pre-op stuff going on this week. Let us know how that goes.

    Surgery Cancelled ::discouraged::

So sorry you are having to have your surgery postponed. I know it must be discouraging, but try to keep your chin up and be as positive as possible. You have been making good progress and there is no need to set yourself back now because of this. Keep eating your protein, which well help with your healing and taking thos antibiotics. You will be back in line for surgery before you know it!

    Pulmonary CT scan

I hope it turns out to be nothing, but definitely better safe than sorry. Good luck and let us know as soon as you do!
  6. Congratulations on doing so well post-op! How have things gone in the 5 days since this post Daisy May?
  7. I would bet both. Talk to your doctor about how you are feeling and he can probably help you through it. You have done a great job losing 32 pounds so far! Don't lose faith in your tool now or let your head get the best of you! We all go through our ups and downs in this process. It's natural and does get better eventaully from what I have read.

    help!!!...

I think you would have to get approval to use your card in another state. It has been years since I was on Medicaid, so not positive. Also, I have heard that it is hard to find doctors who will take Medicaid because the government reimburses at such a lower rate than they can collect from private insurance or private pay. I'm sure there are some out there somewhere, but you may have to do some looking. Good luck!

    Got the ball rolling

Congratulations on getting things started! Anything you can get done before that seminar will put you that much closer to being ready for surgery. Good luck! Where are you from in SC? I am from Sumter and having surgery in Columbia.

    Jazzy June Protein Preferences

I ordered a bunch of samples from Vitalady.com about 2 months ago to find something I like before I have to rely on them too heavily. A couple were great, but some were just downright gross! There was a strawberry and cherry that I really liked, but the same brand in green apple reminded me of vomit. (graphic, sorry!) Capuccino was good, but chocolate coconut candy bar got VERY thick and really couldn't even be considered a liquid. I think I am going to stick with samples rather than ordering bulk of any one flavor because I am afraid I would get tired of drinking the same thing a lot and can't afford to order several different ones in bulk.
  11. I don't have a date yet, but do have approval and am anticipating surgery in June. I have to admit, I am a bit nervous. Once again I am dealing with my fear of failure, which I thought was gone. I'm sure that is probably at least partially because I had been dieting, lost 10 pounds, then just completely caved about 2 weeks ago. I am trying to get back on track, but it isn't as easy as it was the first time. I will have to do a two week high-protein, low carb diet pre-op amd some blood work. Good luck to you!
  12. Yep, that definitely looks like it might be starting to get infected. I would have it looked at for sure. Hope it turns out to be nothing!

    Are you lacking iron?

I tend to have low iron anyway, so am already on a multi-vitamin with iron daily. Hopefully, that will be enough after surgery.
  14. So, I was doing good, tracking my protein, calories, and carbs, eating good stuff, getting in lots of fruits and veggies. I actually lost about 10 pounds! Then BOOM! it was all over. I am feeling hungry all the time, eating just about anything I want, not getting my water in. I know the hunger is probably due at least in part to increased sugar intake. I am eating like a mad woman!!! :bored: And worse even, I am sneaking to do it! I stop by and buy food when I am alone in the car and eat it between home and work. Or I will buy a soda and drink it like I have been stranded in the desert or something! Candy bars at the grocery store that I eat on the way home. I have lost my mind!!! I was so proud of myself for doing so well and not even banded yet, but I am blowing it all out of the water now. The doctor even commented on how well I was doing and now I am afraid when I go for my pre-op visit I will have regained some of what I had lost and be ashamed all over again! I was so committed to this change and what it would mean for my life and now, I still am in my heart, but my head just isn't cooperating. What is wrong with me?:confused2:

Help! Need a Kick in the Butt

Tell the truth. Write down every little thing you put in your mouth. Then, once you send in the journal, continue keeping one on your own and start trying to change your eating habits. Even if you have setbacks on ocasion, write everything down. Be able to show that you are committed to making the changes necessary to be successful to the band. Prove to the doctor and yourself that you can do this if you set your mind to it. Good luck!!

    skinny bitches i call friends

The only "flaw" she has been able to judge you on has been your weight all this time. She is getting ready to lose that and realizes it might just make you a better person than her and it scares her! Society in general looks down on fat people, and I have found that because of that, some people think if they have just one fat "friend" there will always be someone around who looks worse than them, no matter they do. Very sad, inded. Keep working the plan and losing weight and just walk away. One day you will be healthy, thin and fabulous and she will see you and in her heart know that you are indeed everything she is not. And be sure to let the "good" friend know how much you appreciate her understanding and support. Good luck and congratulations on your band!

    2 days banded.....

Sorry you are suffering, but it will get better with time. The hardnpart is over and now it's time to enjoy the ride! Like someone else said, remind your son that you brought him into this world. It is mother's day afterall. Make him a list or tell him very specifically what you need him to do. I know if my 17 y/o doesn't have very specific instructions, he is lost. Good luck and let us know how you're feeling today!
  21. That certainly is an eye opener! Thanks for sharing!

    any advice needed please.

Start tracking everything you put in your mouth. Some good sites to do this on that are free are dailyplate.com and sparkpeople.com. Even liquid calories can make you gain weight, so if your liquid consumption is anything other than sugar free or Water, that could be the culprit. I'm sorry you are going through all of this. Good luck getting back on track!

    OUCH! Second Fill DISASTER!!!!

Sorry this happened, but try not to get discouraged. Glad you are feeling better and hope things go better next time!
  24. I had blood work, ECHO, and upper GI. Also had to see the psych and take the nutrition/fitness class and test on that information. For my own peace of mind, I also had my yearly ob/gyn physical and she ordered a mammogram. Now I am just waiting on a date!

    Anyone have the Realize band?

Thank you all for sharing all the info. My doctor said he should be doing Realize by the time I have surgery and would offer me the option of being one of his first patients to get it, so these first-hand opinions are great! Thanks again!
