I am still in the hospital. I had surgery on Tuesday. I'm here so long to due to breathing problems and sinus congestion. BAD headache. But other than that, I'm fine. Hoping to go home tomorrow.

Today was my big day. I am doing great! So grateful for such wonderful staff here at the hospital. They have been a huge help to me. My sweet husband was here all day and my daughter is spending the night with me. So thankful for this group and all of your support. Will lift you all up in prayer tonight. Praying that you too we have a good experience as well. I can't even express in words how incredible this experience has been so far! No hunger at all. Praise God!

What a great idea!!! Now we can all keep up with each other better.

Bev I turn 50 next month. We are close in age. My surgery is 8/05.

Boppin' Bubbe, I'm so happy you're able to do the surgery. I have been pigging out for a week or so. All of the sudden, I just wanted everything. I've been eating with no abandon and when I stepped on the scale this morning, I was horrified to find that I had gained so much weight. Now I weigh right at 300 lbs. I am so disappointed with myself. I am determined that I will get back down before surgery. I've decided to start a liquid diet now. My doctor only requires it the day before surgery, but I need to get a handle on this now!

Hi I'm 49, almost 50. I'm 5'4" and weigh 287 lbs. I'm down from 303 lbs. The most I've ever weighed is 305 lbs. I am a care giver. I have two children with serious illnesses and both are doing so well. In fact, they've both outlived their diagnosis. About 2 years ago, another one of my children was diagnosed with cancer. She had two surgeries and a year of chemo. She is currently in remission. Praise God! I have always been overweight. I was a fat baby, a fat child, a fat teenager and a fat adult. I have good self-esteem, but have health problems. Diabetes, sleep apnea, high blood pressure, you know, the typical stuff with being obese. Now that everyone is doing well and I have more time for myself, I decided to do the R&Y. Initially I wanted the sleeve. My insurance just approved the surgery on January 1st this year. I was ready. The problem was that my insurance didn't cover the surgical facility. After several months, they decided to allow me to have the surgery after July 1st. While I was waiting for this magical date, I did all of the preliminary stuff. I was ready and waiting for approval and got it last week. I am not nervous about the surgery. I am more nervous about gaining the weight back. I know so many who have done this. I'm really determined to not allow this to happen. I'm motivated! I'm pumped! Just struggling with eating the things I won't be able to in the future, now. Man, I'm craving everything! I only have to do the liquid thing the day before the surgery. But I'm thinking that maybe I should start now. Just don't know what to do. In the meantime, I'm trying to clean out my closets, my drawers, etc. I want to make room for new skinny clothes. I hope to surprise my parents and siblings next year. I'm not going to tell them. My dream for years is to get off the airplane and have them not recognize me. I'm so excited for this that I can't wait! August 5th can't come fast enough!!!

I am getting very excited. I need a pal. I was looking at some of the reconstruction pictures. I'm going to be 50 in September and am not sure that I will have it done. On the other hand, who knows? Maybe I will. Regarding the clothes, I too am a shopper. I just know that my clothes won't fit in the winter. I live in Fresno, CA. Very hot here most of the year. Winters can be cold, but no snow. Looking forward to buying skinny clothes not purchased in a plus sized store!

Hi I'm Amy and I too am having my surgery on August 5th. Like you I am nervous, excited and scared. I recently lost 14 lbs. trying to eat less and was doing great. Then all of the sudden I began to panic. I need ice cream, one more piece of this or that. I want to go to this restaurant or that one. Oh my....I am struggling right now. Can't wait for the surgery and getting off this weight. I have been heavy my entire life. I started packing up my winter clothes to give to my church's thrift store. This has actually been kind of fun! I know my current winter clothes won't fit this winter. Yeah!
