Stall and Adipex
LaChasida replied to reading mom's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My endocrinologist prescribed phentermine after I had thyroid cancer and the thyroidectomy left me with a skyrocketing weight problem. It helps control appetite, and makes it easier to resist temptation without the jitters is caffeine-based appetite suppressants. (But it's no miracle weight loss bullet.) -
Rash on stomach-pics
LaChasida replied to Sassypants92201's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So glad to find this thread-- I'm two weeks post-op and the skin on my abdomen is covered with some sort of rash! I'm wondering if perhaps it's a reaction to the take-home prescription they gave me in Mexico? -
Idk if I made the right choice

Great advice, Une Nouvelle Vie... I haven't considered food therapy, but probably should!? -
I had my surgery on 21 July and today I had my first setback
LaChasida replied to mtedge75's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Same problem... Seems like everything other than clear soups and juices is causing acidic burning, excessive salivation and ultimately vomiting, and I had my sleeve done on the same day you did. I don't know what the answer is, but you're not alone. -
Being single with no relatives living anywhere nearby, I traveled out of the country alone for surgery last month, and I've been alone at home since returning. I don't know what anybody could have done for me that I've been unable to do for myself? But everyone's experience may be different, of course... Best of luck to you!

Would you do it again if you knew....?
LaChasida replied to marie44's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I so needed to read all the positive comments on this thread tonight... Thank you! Being just two weeks post-surgery and struggling with the discomfort and the loss of the food that was such a comfort to me before, it's all too easy to lose sight of the greater goal here! But I am comforted by the certainty of those of you who are in a better place than I to know what good this surgery can do, longterm... Many thanks for your insight and wisdom and encouragement. -

My sympathies!! Does the IV at least help you feel hydrated? I keep hoping my post-surgical regrets will dissipate in time, when I feel more like myself and start seeing some results? But it's awfully hard not to question my decision (and my investment!) when I'm feeling so physically unwell. -

I was really happy about getting the gastric sleeve prior to surgery but I've been having a lot of regrets since. I underestimated the extent to which I depended on food for emotional gratification, for a social outlet, for comfort. -
I'm about 12 days post-surgery and it's kind of miserable so far! I am sick of soup and not drinking enough water however hard I try. I also have a hard egg-sized growth under one of my surgical scars, anybody have any idea if that's anything to worry about?

extra fees after surgery at Nova Hospital in Tijuana?
LaChasida replied to waterlady's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Just had the gastric sleeve done this week at this hospital; my BMI was under 35, and yes, I also got hit with with a $430 bill for "extra" hospital charges. And just for the record: some of the "required paperwork" I had to sign at Nova was only available in Spanish, even though I asked if English forms were available... I was told there was no translated paperwork available. -
Had my sleeve done by Dr. Ramos Kelly on Monday of this week, and I am so thankful after all the research that I chose the surgeon that I did! Dr. Kelly and his wife Cece (a nurse) could not be more supportive and thorough; they are a class act! The surgery went well and I am just trying to figure out how to embrace the new lifestyle that comes next. Thanks to all of you on this site who have shared your experiences and lent hope and strength to the rest of us who are new to it all!
