HI! I'm Lisa and I just found this forum. I have actually been thinking about bariatric surgery for years but because of a botched abdominal surgery 20 years ago (hernia) was afraid. Now I'm 53 and I can tell I'm getting close to losing my mobility and I'm not having that, I have too much to do still.
I found, thank goodness, other surgeons at this site with REVIEWS even for which I am very grateful and now have an appt. coming up on July 30th. . I'm not a fan of lap band for myself and will go, I'm sure, another route.
I'm an artist by trade (I'm a lampworker, that's someone who makes beads and other small glass objects with glass rods and a torch that reaches 2000 degrees). I also do metalsmithing (another torch, lol, I like fire) and I enjoy sewing and fiber arts as well. I'm an avowed bibliophile, being in the midst of a bookstore filled with old books is nirvana for me and YAY for the Kindle because now I actually have room for all the stuff I read, My genres are SF and fantasy but I will venture outside those on occasion. I'm a huge music fan and listen to everything although my tastes run to symphonic metal and old blues. I'm a Texan and drive a big red Dodge Ram because I have to have something to haul oxygen tanks in for my glass work. Well, that and I just like big ol' trucks.
I have two grown children, one has moved out and one still at home because he has some mental disabilities. I've been married to the same wonderful guy, their father, since 1987.
I love swimming and do that regularly and I would love to take up biking again after I lose 10 or 200 pounds. I'm a pretty irreverent person. I love to laugh and have fun. Although I desperately want to lose weight and always have I haven't let that define who I am or stop me from pursuing my goals.
Oh, and I'm a pet fanatic. One dachshund and three cats, all horribly spoiled.
So that's me! :)
