Hey punkrpamela!! I am in the process of getting my insurance approved with BAKER. He is good and has done over 2500 surgeries! He operates at Baptist and is on the board there as well. He is also over the Baptist weight loss program! I like him. Right now, I am waiting to hear back form Dr. Baker with my insurance. The cool thing is is that all you have to do is go to his website Obesity-Surgery.net - Dr. John W. Baker, Bariatric Surgeon and fill out all the paper work electronically and they process it and send it to the pre-determination dept! He doesn't even charge you for taking care handling your insurance company and I believe some do. I went to my general physician and asked him for a referral and he told me Baker, so if I get the surgery it will be with him. SGACX

Hello Everyone! I hope you all are doing okay! Sorry it has been so long since I have written. I went to my first seminar on 10-30-07 with Dr. Baker. It was interesting. He showed us a live surgery of the laporscopic lapband and the gastric bypass. I found out that everyone who has the surgery has to be on a preop diet for 2 weeks regardless of your BMI. Now, i am waiting to hear back from the insurance company. Bandster 1007, I hope everything is going well with you. Are you having much trouble with life after the band? To me, that is the scariest part, life after the band. How do you know to go to the doctor if something is wrong? Concentrating on chewing 1000 times, taking smaller bites, not drinking with food. Mammathang, I had a quick change of plans! I had a doctor's appointment the day of the seminar and he referred me to go to Dr. Baker in LR, so I skipped out on the other seminar. . .

MOMMATHANG, since we are3 going to the same seminar tonight just wanted to let you know what I am wearing so you can find me: I am goingto wear an light orange button up with jeans and I have dark, dark brown hair...what are you wearing so I can find you? Service primarily for weight loss reductions or the treatment of obesity. This exclusion doesn not apply to surgical treatment of morbid obesity as determined by us if we authorize the treatment in advance as medically necessary and appropriate Hey so maybe I have a chance at getting it approved. . .

Hey all! I have decided that I am going to start this journey and go to a seminar! I am excited, but scared to get my hopes up. I live in Conway and I have so many questions! I am hoping I can get my insurance approved with BC of California. How does that work? Does the surgeon take care of trying to get it approved? What is the cost of the lapband? The fills? I am looking at Dr. Welborn, he has had over 850 surgeries that focus on Bariatric Surgery. I haven't looked into anyone else. Does anyone have suggestions? Thanks!
