  2. Happy 48th Birthday Jaeric!

  3. 4 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 4th Anniversary Jaeric!

  4. How discouraging! :faint:I can't believe they let you get that close before saying no. Can you appeal? What did your doctor say????? Are there any other tests/hoops you can jump through to make them change their minds???? Jae
  5. GREAT!!!! Maybe I will wait until our 19 year old son can be home from college for a week or so. He is great with his little sisters. He helped a lot when I got home from China and my husband was working. We were so jet lagged and it was tough getting the girls to be okay with each other. Thanks for all the real life experience. I think I can handle it with some help. My girls are wild little monkeys so I will definitely ask for some help:) Jae
  6. I am going to my information session tomorrow and have done so much research already that I am pretty sure the band is for me! My greatest concern at this point is I have a 2 and a 3 year old and I wonder if I will be able to care for them after the surgery. I have read that some people have a lot of pain. I know I need to quit sleeping on their bedroom floor when they wake up in the night....that already makes me sore and I haven't had surgery! But we are about 2 weeks out from finishing a second bedroom (one just isn't working...they never go to sleep) and I plan on breaking the floor sleeping habit at the same time). My husband works long hours so after a few days I am sure I will be alone with them at times. Can I pick them up, carry them, wrestle their pajamas on them???? I plan to ask tomorrow night but I would sure like to hear from some parents of toddlers! Thanks! Jae
  7. Thanks everyone.... I go to my info meeting tomorrow! I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I know my surgery will be a ways down the road as I am a mom of a 2 and 3 year old (internationally adopted) and I am terrified of not being able to care for them or having them jump on my stomach/side. Jae:cool:
  8. I am in the Portland Metro area and going to my first information seminar on Wednesday with Dr. Patterson. Anyone been to one of these? I think it is through Oregon Weight Loss Surgery. I have visions of being the only fat person there with 2 doctors looking at me! I will be a self pay so I am hoping for a positive experience. Also, are there support groups you attend on a regular basis? Thanks:nervous Jae

    Soft Drinks vs Band

I LOVE diet Coke (several cans/big gulps a day. I have decided that I will quit this addiction before surgery to prove to myself I am ready to follow the guidelines. I have 4 cans of diet Coke left....then it's GONE! Jae
  10. I haven't been banded yet...just going to my info seminar this Wednesday, but I know exactly how you feel. I worry too and can get quite anxious. A good friend of mine had gastric bypass surgery 6 months ago and is really doing great. She LOVED chips and other salty Snacks and she says she doesn't miss them anymore. She says her cravings have really changed. I know it is a different surgery, but I am hoping that I will have a similar experience. Where are you located??? There is a doctor in Portland doing a research study on gastric banding and something to do with the vargus (sp?) nerve to curb appetite. Maybe you could call and ask about the study? Look up Legacy Obesity Clinic in Portland, Oregon and go to research. I don't know anything about the research but maybe it would calm your nerves:) I keep telling myself that even though I love sweets, not very many will fit in my stomach! Giving up diet Coke is going to be my huge anxiety maker. Let us know how it goes! Jae:heh:
  11. Hi, I'm new and beginning this journey. I have been excited about the lapband for a long time and have always wanted to go forward with surgery. Recently I have read that the band may not be for people with a "sweet tooth" and I ask myself, "How many people carry the weight I do, and not like sweets?" Are there any sugar addicts out there that can comment on their cravings pre and post band? The one thing I have going for me is I am a big chicken, so if I think it will mess up my surgery I won't do it. Looking for real life experiences.... Jaeric
