Thanks to my LBT Pals I have a goal!

There you go !!!! Doesn't it feel so good to be so close to goal??? I think it is realistic and you will look even hotter than you do now. And of course presents come with weight loss. Why not? You deserve this !! 22 pounds is nothing.....so close you can taste it. Ok, bad analogy. Leah

    2006 January Chat

Hi All ! Why haven't I seen this posting before???? I'm from MA and so happy to hear from others in the area. I admit, I get a little jealous when I hear about the other bandsters around the US getting together, having chats, etc. Now we finally have our own !!! Anyway........ I was banded May 23, and have been pretty successful with my band. I have had very little difficulty and would recommend this procedure to anyone who is thinking about WLS. I am helping my 70 year old Dad go through the process and hopefully he will have his surgery in March of this year. I hope the surgery/healing/losing are as smooth sailing as I have had it. Good to chat with all of you. Off to go warm up my car on this terribly, terribly cold day ! BRRRRRRRRR:welcomeB: Leah
  3. Hi Dana, Welcome to LBT ! You are in great hands here. I don't think anyone of us need to convince you to have the surgery- I think you have already made that decision ! And believe me, it will be the best decision of your life. I had surgery almost 8 months ago. I am so much healthier, happier and would not change a thing. Have I had problems? Minimal. Would do it again-in a heartbeat !!! I have nothing but positive things to say, so I guess I can't answer any of your questions concerning the "downside" of the surgery. Good Luck~ :clap2: Leah

    Acid Reflux

I had real bad acid reflux over the past month. Finally, I decided not to be so stubborn and went in for what was supposed to be a slight unfill. It made all the difference in the world. Good Luck...
  6. DeLarla- you are hot at the weight you are at !!! It's all in how you feel and present yourself !! Don't concentrate on a number, they mean nothing in the grand scheme of things.:clap2:

Please keep my little girl in your prayers...

Mandy, I just found this post today. I am not only talking to you as a mother, a social worker who works with the mentally ill on a dialy basis, but also as a mother who watched her own daughter (also named Abigail) dealing with many of the same struggles you are going through. I give 100 % praise and admiration to you for being there for your precious daughter (and she is precious, I saw her picture). You are her biggest support and ally and don't ever give up on her. Kudos to you for following your gut and seeking help. I would cry night after night, until I saw kids who were far worse off than my child. It made me think that I could get through this, and you will too !!! I initially rejected medications (this is from a social worker married to a nurse). Don't make the same mistake we did. Keep her on the zoloft or whatever else a trusted doc puts her on. Your realtionship with her psychiatrist and pediatrician will make all the difference. Be proud of yourself that you are dealing with this at such an early age. Your beautiful daughter will be fine. The day will come when you can't remember anything except the sound of her laughter. Keep the faith and please PM me if I can be of help. We are all here for you and Abby. Leah

Finally found it online. It is a dice game and you can play for chips or money. I was wondering if anyone had played. My friends say it is a blast. Will let you know when I receive mine in the mail !!
  11. yes, I go monthly. I think that is the number one reason I stay on track. I need all the support I can get and I advise anyone who hasn't gone, to at least try.

    Star Jones

Her new book came out yesterday. Same day she was on Dr. Phil and 20/20. I actually don't care how she lost the weight, just don't be dishonest about it. The american public watch you. And she looks better with a little meat on her, IMO.

    Who did you tell?

I told my husband because I couldn't get away with not telling him ! Other than that, I felt it was a very personal matter. Although I love my friends and co-workers, I didn't want to live under a microscope. I didnt tell my family because they worry about my health and I thought they just wouldn't understand. I have lost at a rapid pace, so people are noticing and asking questions-I just say I eat ALOT less. Not a lie, right??? I have even had some rude people ask if I had GB, again I say "NO".

Anyone on here over 60 years old besides me?

Actually, my dad has BOTH medicare and BC/BS, so I am not sure who is paying for what. He def meets all the criteria for the surgery, so I would be amazed if his insurance turned him down. He is about 50 % done with the whole process and plans on March for the surgery. I never told a soul I was doing this except my husband and best friend. Well, when I heard through the grapevine that my Dad was thinking of doing this, I just HAD to step forward and confess. I mean, what better support than to have a daughter who has already gone through all the ups and downs !!!! Good Luck and keep us posted on how things are going for you. You will find a wealth of info and so many wonderful people on this site.
