The last thing I was thinking about after giving birth was giving head.... -
I didn't have a simultaneous surgery when I had my Lap Band placed, but I did have 3 c-sections and had to care for babies after MAJOR surgery. The Lap Band is a piece of cake compared to those births. I have also had my tubes tied- not so bad either. I think if you have both done at the same time, you should be fine. It all depends on what the doc wants to do, of course. Congrats on the pregnancy !!

I don't think this is a coincidence. When I find myself PBing more than I should, I get the same pain. When I had an unfill, it disappeared.

aaamom replied to Dianechef's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When I hit 100 pounds lost (which seems like it is taking forever), I am getting a tummy tuck and boob job. DH told me even if insurance denies, I can still go ahead with it. Cross your fingers-I am planning on September !!!!! -

HEY WILDFLOWER-your doc seems pretty funny !! Anyway, NO GUM according to my doc and nutritioinst for all the same reasons. It could get stuck in your opening and also cause alot of air to be trapped and therefore PAIN. Not worth it ~

Hi Amy~ I have Crohns disease ( an autoimmune disorder). My doc said she would never ever ever do GB on me, but that the band would be perfectly safe. No issues in one year !

Question-how are new moderators picked? Do the existing moderators pick? Is their an application process? Do you nominate yourself? Did I miss something?

How long until you were able to work?
aaamom replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My dad had his surgery at 70 years old in April. He was driving and out and about by day three. He is retired, but takes care of all his rental properties (upkeep/mowing lawns/plumbing, etc.). Not bad for 70 ! I had my surgery on a tuesday and went back to work the folllowing Tuesday. I am social worker-no heavy lifting involved !!!!!!!!! -
Hey poodles~ I had three hernia surgeries in a year (and one appendectomy thrown in) and I have to agree- they are much worse than the lap band. It is major abdominal surgery. Takes a while to recoup, but you will feel stronger/better each day. The best thing you can do for yourself is rest rest rest for a week or two. Hope you feel better and don't be afraid to take your pain meds.

EWWWWWWWWW. sorry this is happening to you. I would forward immediately.

Would you do it again or choose another option?
aaamom replied to BPM's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I am one year out and would do it again in a heartbeat. I have regretted my decision for only one brief moment when I was unable to swallow an antibiotic and had to have it crushed (YUCK). Otherwise, how can I complain? I am now 87 pounds lighter/healthier/happier. Good luck on your decision. -
I few years back, I weighed in at 254- the highest that Oprah Winfrey was. Well, I had lost 80 pounds on Weight Watchers and told myself that Oprah and I would never get that big again. Needless to say, I got pregnant with my 3rd child, and before I knew it, I was at 254 AGAIN. That was my magic number and I called the hospital that day. i am hanging around 167-169 pounds, but that is a hell of a lot better than 254 !
