Hi there, I too suffer from migraines. The really bad ones, like you get. In fact, I was hospitalized in September because they were so bad. I throw up from time to time, but it doesn't bother my band. Just take it slow and see what your doc says. Don't cancel your surgery just yet ! You can make it work !!! By the way, did your doc prescribe a medication to prevent them, rather than treat the migraine? I take meds nightly, and my migraines have decreased. Good Luck

I'm so sorry you are going through this. I have no advice to give you on this matter other than to KEEP FIGHTING !!! It appears that alot of bandsters here have appealed an won. Let's hope that you are one of many who can beat the insurance company at their game ! Good Luck

Last week I posted about having a bad problem with acid reflux at night. I had been vomiting in my sleep, and nothing I tried worked. Well.......Of course I wrote to LBT and received wonderful suggestions from everyone. I did, however, ignored one very smart piece of advice-DO NOT GET ANOTHER FILL. Well, being my stubborn self, and being so happy with my weight loss, and having such a fear I will gain weight again if I don't continue getting fills, I went ahead and had another fill on Tuesday. I was now up to a total of 2.8cc's in a 4cc band. Well let me tell you, that was an experience I never wish on anyone. I spent three nights continously vomitting, not being able to keep anything down, and starting to feel weak/shaky. I finally admitted what I had done to my surgeon and went straight in for an unfill. She took out .4cc's bringing me down to 2.4-less than I was prior. I am happy to report I was able to sleep through the night-vomit free. Moral of the story-LISTEN TO THOSE WISER THAN YOU AND HAVE BEEN THROUGH IT. I will never second guess you guys again............

You can go to surgery with either a tampon or a pad. It doesn't matter since they will remove anyway to put the catheter in when you are asleep. You will wake up from a blissful sleep and you period will be the last thing on your mind. Trust me, I got mine on my day of surgery !! Just a little irritated !

I am feeling a 100 times better, thanks !!! I absolutely should not have gotten that last fill, but I convinced myself it was just acid reflux and not related to the band. YEA RIGHT !!!!! My husband kept tellling me to call the doctor, that is was NOT acid reflux. I hate when he's right !!!!

went in for my initial consult Feb 22. Had my surgery May 23rd. No paper trail for me. All smooth sailing. It wish it was as easy for everyone else. No arguing with insurance companies, no appeals, etc Good Luck

Ok, so I am not crazy! I guess this can happen despite not getting a recent fill. I really haven't changed any behaviors/food choices, and just have to chalk it up to "it's just one of those things". I did decide today that I will revert back to mushies/soft foods. I never ever want to take my band for granted, and maybe someday have to have it removed. So am I then to assume I probably won't be getting another fill???? My problem is that I have been doing so well for so long, that it stinks to realize things DO happen.

Hi Guys. I need your help. Lately I have been able to eat more, and can actually feel the food pass through my stoma. Well, I figured it was time for a fill (last one was Aug 30), so I will be seeing my doc next Tuesday. Anyway, for the past four nights, as soon as I fall asleep, I wake up coughing/choking with a mouth full of acid. I have never ever tasted acid since my banding, and now am very worried that my band may have slipped, or worse, eroded. Has anyone else had this? Needless to say, I am up all night, even tried sleeping almost upright. I even tried not eating anything past 6pm, but I still "throw up" in my sleep. I am so worried !!!! Thanks in advance for any advice. Am I just being crazy???

Thanks guys for all your suggestions. I will not eat 3 hours before bed: I will try the recommendation from Paula of drinking 1 1/2 glasses of water to flush out my pouch; I think I have some prilosec OTC in my medicine cabinet. And I will def tell my surgeon (BTW-She is a she!) when I see her on Tuesday. I can't imagine I am too tight-I havent had a fill in 2 months and lately I have been eating more than I should be able too !! Oh I hope I can get another fill and this doesn't persuade her NOt to do it. Anyway, you have all been so great to take the time and answer me. I feel relieved..ahhhh

Thanks guys for your replies. I am sure it is just acid reflux (but every night after I fall asleep?). I just get so worked up that I have a slip or erosion. Does anyone know what those symptoms are???? As always, you guys are the best !!!

You are doing awesome and should be so proud of yourself !!! Think of all you have accomplished in such a short amount of time. we all have bad days and get angry with ourselves from time to time, but don't let that stop you from getting to your goal-a healthier you!!! You go girl!!!!!
