Curiosity. .how long is everyone's 1st phase
NewMe_2014 replied to nonnax2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on liquids only for three weeks. Technically 3 weeks 4 days since that's when my follow-up appointment is. Then I'll be moved to soft foods. I skip the puree phase but spend a long time on liquids and my liquid phase does not include Jello or even Popsicles, it's strictly shakes, broth and zero calorie drinks. BUT I get to have coffee which it seems like most people don't. It's so crazy how different the pre and post-op diets are across the country! -
Yep three weeks next Monday.

I'm still in liquids. I mix protein shake in with my morning Latte, I drink ProtiDiet in my water once a day, unjury chicken soup for lunch, premier shake in the afternoon and an evening shake with protein powder, milk and pb2. I counted today I will hit about 120g. I plan to keep adding protein to my coffee and water once I start the transition to foods. Hoping to get 80 then. -

I'm using the FitBit app and I'm getting about 650-750 calories a day and 100g of protein. -
I'm also on the eastside. I was a self-pay sleeve on 8/25 at Swedish First Hill. I am going to try and hit up their Issaquah support group this month and see what it's like.

sleevers with small children?
NewMe_2014 replied to veronicalynnnnnnn's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have 2 year old twins. The lifting restriction is the thing that totally sucks. I can't say I haven't lifted my 30 pound kids even though my lifting limit is 15 for 6 weeks! I was sleeved 8/25 and the day I came home from the hospital my daughter was sent home sick from daycare. She spent the week with me and my son the following week. That was my 2 week recovery. lol -
August post op sleevers: Check in
NewMe_2014 replied to motherof5's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm another 8/25 sleever. I'm still on liquids only so I'm drinking my shakes, broth and water and doing really well. I've been VERY lucky to have had no issues or even pain really. Counting my lucky stars. -
Help please, I'm afraid this is from a leak...

Good luck to you!! -
I'm only one week out, but I'm spending three and a half on shakes and broth only, then advancing to soft foods for three weeks then solid introduction.

Highly considering Sleeve Surgery .. Any takers on their experience? :)
NewMe_2014 replied to asolma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on 8/25 and it's been the best thing I've done for myself sofar. I've been blessed with a super easy recovery and I've had zero problems getting my vitamins, water, and protein in. I'm still on liquids only, but so far so good. -
9 days out and wondering why I don't feel any different?
NewMe_2014 replied to Melanieada's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved 8/25 too! No problems here. The only narcotic pain meds I took were given to me in recovery at the hospital. After that it's been Tylenol. I've had zero problem getting my Protein drinks or Water in either. I took two weeks off work but I could go back early if I wanted. Unfortunately, one if my twins got sick and was home with me last week and the other is now sick and will be with me for as much of this week as is needed. The biggest issue I've had is wearing a bra because one of my incisions is right in my bra line! -
Coffee was on my hospital menu. I'm one week post op and have had a latte a few times which was suggested by my NUT! I was told to stay away from coffee if I was having problems getting my hydrating fluids in, but otherwise it is fine for me to have.

Any Washington State Sleevers?
NewMe_2014 replied to eyoung's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on 8/25 at Swedish and I live on the Eastside. Nice to meet everyone! -
It was a requirement for my surgeon. He was checking for signs of GERD and the shape oft stomach. He said if it's too curved he recommends the bypass because you have a higher chance of kinking with the sleeve.

Anyone suffering major constipation on the pre-op diet? I've been taking colace and even did an enema... Help! -
I'm still pre-op, but I totally agree with Kindel. Regardless of what other doctors plans may be, your doctor gave you a specific plan and you need to evaluate why you are unable to keep on track. Talk to your NUT and get back on track.

Self Pay and Financing
NewMe_2014 replied to cassie_vsg's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm also self-pay and I'm paying quite a bit more to stay in the US and go through a plan with ongoing NUT and psych support as well as support groups and follow-ups. I have about 1/2 the money in cash and I ended up taking a cash out loan on my car which we owned free and clear. The auto loan rates are low right now so it was a good option for us. -

I haven't been sleeved yet, but my dietitian has already told me I will be on lots of supplements after surgery. I will also have an acid reducer for 6 months, pain meds, stool softener, and my current bp med too. I'm planning to get a big pill box before surgery. -

I haven't found deals. I am buying some Nectar shakes next week at my appointment. They give a 10% discount on shakes and vitamins purchased at the consent appt. otherwise I have unjury and premier from Costco. -

August Sleevers Check In
NewMe_2014 replied to Sweet Pea STL Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thinking of all of you who have had your surgery!! I'm scheduled for the 25th and starting a super low carb pre-op diet tomorrow. Lucky to not have a liquid diet pre-op, just under 20 carbs a day. -
I'm also scheduled for the 25th. When are you guys starting your pre-op diets and how do they differ from what you have been doing?

August Sleevers Check In
NewMe_2014 replied to Sweet Pea STL Sleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congratulations to all of the August 1 folks! I'm getting closer and closer. I've been preparing... ordered more Unjury shakes, cleaned out the pantry and freezer, bought a nightgown for the hospital and two long stretchy dresses for recovery. I never wear dresses, but figured it would be better than buying new work pants as I drop in sizes and they were really cheap at Ross. Also got a bunch of yard work done, weeding and hedges trimmed. WHEW. What's everyone else doing to prepare?
