Newbie...Did any of you go through pre-surgery jitters?
It's Allgood replied to MsLGibb's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I think we all go through jitters. If we have done our homework, we know what to expect and can go into it with a higher degree of confidence than had we not done our homework. Good luck to you! I am 3 mos. out and doing fine. -
Just to share...the story angers me
It's Allgood replied to silvertaurus's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thank you for sharing your story. I am one of the "lucky" ones who has had every thing go as planned. I knew going in that complications do happen and you are living proof. I hope things go better from here on out. -
Im normal bmi and body fat!
It's Allgood replied to Inge83's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Way to go! Lots of hard work and patience to get to this. Reward yourself with new clothes or a night of dancing or, or, or........... Take some time to be proud of this accomplishment! -
Whats a reasonable goal
It's Allgood replied to Brn2blossom's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The realistic goal according to my surgeon is 1 to 2 pounds a week on average. Remember, there will be periods of time you do not lose weight followed by losing 2 to 5 pounds. As long as the scale is showing a loss or holding steady, I do not worry. I know the weight will come off in its own good time. I also recognize wanting to plot it out and hoping for a fast downward slide. Good luck with the surgery! -
I'm 4'11", but I always say I am 5'. I was sleeved close to 8 weeks ago and have lost about 25 pounds (I don't closely track it). I'm walking, but have not made it to the gym yet. Good luck, everyone!

I threw in the towel, and gave up!
It's Allgood replied to TatorTot's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Bipolar, by itself, is not a real reason to not perform surgery. Perhaps consider Mexico, no hoops, no drama, based on medicine. Good luck! -
Be honest - does anyone regret the surgery?
It's Allgood replied to TvlGrl712's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Not a moment of regret. -
I began with a BMI of 33 and I have not looked back for a moment. I am in my 60s, had no problems, and I feel a lot better.

Passport for Mexico
It's Allgood replied to BitterSweet*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are required to have a passport to re-enter the US. That change is fairly recent. You can have the passport office expedite your passport. I had mine within 3 weeks. -
Why is having surgery in Mexico such a taboo subject?
It's Allgood replied to jjinWA's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to Mexico and my PCP is following me. If needed, I can go back to Mexico for follow-up. -
"...but you're 7 pounds short of qualifying"
It's Allgood replied to Engteacher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, drink a lot before your weight is done, keep everything you can in your pockets - coins, cell phone, rocks, anything Iron, slouch, and smile. Good luck! I think you will get approved. -
I forgot to mention that we have tons of neurons in our gut, not just our brain. These neurons also help keep the neurotransmitters in balance. With the surgery, we just had a bunch wicked out. Also, a lot of estrogen is stored in fat cells and gets released as those cells decrease in size. Many of us are sensitive to estrogen and it increases depression. I am with you in feeling some of the emotional roller coaster.

You are welcome here and we are a bit like an extended family. Keep reading and posting!

It's Allgood replied to marmello's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yes!! I keep water on my nightstand and drink some every time I wake up. -

It's Allgood replied to anninva's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hello, my name is Jane and I'm a queer. I had not seen this forum until today. So nice to know we are here and, hopefully, willing to talk with one another. I am 6 weeks out and doing great. Oh, I live in San Diego. -
You are totally ripped! The guys and gals will be checking you out! Great job!

Sleeve and Mental Illness
It's Allgood replied to adiposehysteria's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are a lot of us who have been sleeved with little to no problem. My psychiatrist and I went through my medications and changed the ones that are extended release to regular. I am 5 weeks out and have not had a downward change in mood. I hope others will also respond, but I believe my experience is typical. -
I went to TJ for my surgery and had no problems. I also travel to TJ to shop and sightsee. I have never felt like I am in danger.

17 pounds down since surgery on 9/22
It's Allgood replied to auntiemel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Auntiemel, you are doing well. I like the slow but steady method because we don't tend to stall like the fast and furious. I like to think our body adjusts as we go along and doesn't need a stall to catchup. Keep up the great work! -
Looking for Dr in Mexico
It's Allgood replied to trulyamazingtoo's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I used A Lighter Me and Dr. Elias Ortiz. I went alone and had a wonderful experience. I am a month out and have had no problems. I do recommend them. -
My forum name comes from my last name (Allgood) and the fad phrase of It's Allgood. My students love to say that to me when the semester is getting rough.

Getting annoyed and being sensitive.
It's Allgood replied to Sassy Little Redhead's topic in Rants & Raves
Yeah, I can see how they would get under your skin. My co-workers know and I framed it as a health issue. I weighted 165 the day of surgery, but I have diabetes and high blood pressure. That they understood and they have been very supportive. Some of them are probably envious that you are doing it so they are needling you. I know it is hard to hear this day in and day out, but can you subtly blow them off? Good luck! -
Decisions...decisions!
It's Allgood replied to FutureMrs.Bee's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I didn't have anyone at the hospital with me and I didn't need extra help except with the first shower. I made it on my own, but some help would have made it easier. Perhaps letting them stay with you during the day would be a good idea. It can get a little boring. Also, it is nice to have someone waiting for you after surgery. Good luck with your surgery! -
I'm day 3 post op and IM STARVING!
It's Allgood replied to TeacherMommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try to concentrate on your surgery and what you need to do to be ready. My pre-op diet was very low carb so I did not feel hungry. I am 3 weeks post surgery and I still seldom feel genuine hunger. The carbs boost the feelings of hunger. Good luck with your surgery! I will be looking to see how it goes. -
Dr. Elias Ortiz or Dr. Fernando Garcia?
It's Allgood replied to Ingrid007's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Mailer - I hope you will be as pleased with him as I am. Please keep us informed. He is a kind man and, I think, a good surgeon. Good luck!
