A place for bandsters in their 60's

Lonestar, thanks so much!! My instinct was/is to go with Dr. Ganta, but I was hoping to get reassurance from someone who'd already been a patient. I'm glad to hear that your experience is continuing to be good. (I may take advantage of your email to ask a question or two, so thanks for that as well!) Gracias, from down the road in South Austin.

    BCBS TX - Approved

Sandahlia, congrats!! I'm BCBS TX myself, and I'm wondering what you used for your 6 mos. diet requirement? That's the part I'm nervous about, I'm not sure exactly what documentation I'm going to need. Thanks, and again-what exciting news for you!:clap2:

A place for bandsters in their 60's

Hi all! I am hoping to find Lonestar. I was doing a search on the surgeon I'm considering, and saw that she was banded by him. I was hoping to get her opinion and feedback. There was no pm option on her profile, and this thread seemed to be her "home", so I thought I'd see if I could find her here....:help: So Lonestar, if you're out there? What did you think of Dr. Ganta?
  4. I've been lurking around for a few weeks, and finally got brave enough to register. I'm so glad I came across this mb, and I hope that everyone considering the lapband does-the exchange of info that I've seen taking place is invaluable! I'm hoping to have my surgery sometime in early 2008; there is no way I can take any time off my job during the holidays. My job? Everyone ready to groan? I'm a professional chef. Anyhow, I just wanted to say hello before I started asking questions.

    Handling the negativity of mom

There's a big difference between negative "people" and a negative mother. I can speak from experience! I always tell people that my mom didn't just see the glass half empty, she wondered who drank the other half of her glass. I can only suggest two things. One is remembering that your mom sees the world in a funhouse mirror: no matter what angle she views it from, it will always be skewed and stretched. The other is applying a quote from my therapist, about my mother: "She may have done the best job she could, but that doesn't mean she did a good job." I'm glad you have your sisters for support, you can all be strong together.
