I was banded in 2007 in the USA. Struggled the entire process. Acid reflux, burping, not being able to keep anything down even will 2cc in my band. I'm traveling to Mexico to get it removed on Aug. 7th by Dr. Alvarez. Has anyone had any experience with Dr. Alvarez? Has anyone had their band removed and felt like a failure? I hope to get a sleeve in a few months!

ANY SLEEVER'S WHO WENT WITH DR ALVAREZ?
mermaiddreams replied to BackToBeautiful's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I went to him and had my lapband removed. Waiting for recovery and I plan to go in Feb. for my sleeve. I met up with two ladies who got the sleeve they are doing fantastic. I can honestly tell you that the care couldn't be better! From Susan to Rosie the driver they are all top notch. The dr is wonderful he didn't want to do the sleeve until I healed from the lapband removal. He wants the BEST for us! You won't be disappointed at all. Any questions he emails you back or calls. Check him out on YouTube. Best care I've ever had. -

Very soon I will go from Band to Sleeve!
mermaiddreams replied to aloudwhisper's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Aloud whisper, I think I know what your feeling. Some moments I'm so ready for the change but in the next breathe so unsure. I had a rough time with the band and I don't want to go through that. For me right this moment I want a new lease on life. I want to be able to move freely, walk with out pain, be healthy, fit in a chair and not feel horrible I can't control my portion size. I'm praying that everything will be worth the extreme amount of work for this tool to work. I need to get there in my head. There will always be fear even if you know " it's the best thing to do ." Best of luck and keep us posted . -
After dealing with so many issues my band was removed in Mexico by Guillermo Alvarez ( best in the world). I'm less then 24 hours out and my body feels so relieved Guillermo Alvarez said I should wait at least 6 months before getting the sleeve because all the damage the band did to my stomach it needs to heal. I'm a self pay so I'll start cutting corners and save up and hopefully by May of 2015 I'll be sleeved. by Guillermo Alvarez. I can't say enough about the care here with Guillermo Alvarez and his team. They truly care about you as a person. I travelled with two other people getting the sleeve and the say the same thing about the fantastic care here. I'm so happy that little lapband monster is out of me!

What are you going to do?

Pangie, now that the band is gone I'm not restricted and I can eat anything the first time I took a bit of a cheese burger I chewed and chewed for a long time. Swallowed and waited for my bodies "normal" reaction and it was an amazing feeling to not have one! My new normal is I can eat! No heart pounding, sweating, running to the bathroom As soon as I was banded I couldn't eat eggs my body just said no to them..fried, scrambled, poached... I tried it all but I can eat eggs again!!!! It a blessing now I need to get in check with my food:) sleeved march or May for me Good luck!

My little lap band monster is coming out!
mermaiddreams replied to mermaiddreams's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Just watchme I hope it works out! It was a tough choice because I wanted it to "work" it just didn't for me. But there are many on here that love the band and have success, I hope you can be one of them! -
I went to Mexico for my band removal and will go for my sleeve in 6 months. The amazing doctor Guillermo Alvarez in Mexico. I recommend him. Amazing staff and the experience and care was fantastic. Susan who lives on Texas will be the connect person. Research but you won't find a better doctor. I can't wait to get sleeved. Very happy the doctor said he wouldn't sleeve because of the amount of scar tissue.
