Actually, you can bash me, too. My doctor is affiliated with a research hospital and has a long track record of highly successful bariatric surgery. That's why I chose her. I followed her protocol for supplements. At 3 months my blood work was perfect. She said I could go back to my Multivitamin which I've taken for years. She does not treat sleeve patients the same as bypass. According to her, research shows that provided the sleeve patient is following a balanced eating plan they do not exhibit the Vitamin deficiencies that bypass patients do. So I take no special supplements. My 6 month blood work was perfect. If there is ever an issue, she said it would be addressed when presented. At 10 months out, down 88 lbs, I feel fabulous and have more energy than I've had in years. My hair hasn't fallen out and my skin is great. No supplements from month 3 has not caused me any problems. Here's the deal. I trust MY doctor. I listen to MY doctor. This is a discussion forum. I can read what others do and find it interesting. But in the end I follow what MY doctor tells me. If your doctor is telling you to take supplements... and most do... then take them.

coffee? Yup, don't listen to people here. LOL The range of responses you get will be everything from "I drank it in the hospital before discharge" to "I can never have caffeine of any kind ever again". Everyone will have a justification and explanation. The only people whose opinion you need is YOUR treatment teams so call them. BTW, as per MY doctors instructions I've been happily drinking regular coffee since discharge with no issues ????

Same here. 48DD to 38DD. I also have always had very large boobs. I think that makes a difference in how they shrink as you lose weight. I'm still a DD, they just hang to my knees now LOL

My surgeon also requires a course of Actigall six months post op for all patients who still have their gall bladders. Gall stones was something I was aware of and concerned about as a common complication. I'm 9 months post op and have had no issues so the medication seems to have done its job. I'm so sorry this has happened but it is definitely a word of warning that this is something to at the very least discuss with your surgeon pre op. ((BIG HUGS))) and hope you are feeling better. ☺️

Victoza has been prescribed for diabetes for some time. Some people found it reduced their appetite and they lost weight. Thus you now have doctors prescribing it as an appetite suppressant. I took Victoza for my type 2 diabetes for a couple years. Weight loss? Meh... the only loss of appetite was from the nausea it gives some people. The couple pounds I lost didn't make a dent in my obesity. I had sleeve surgery last December and am down 85 lbs and off ALL diabetes meds. BEST thing I ever did!!! My PCP, an athlete herself, was not a fan of WLS. She was an excellent doctor and I had enormous respect for her. She gave me clearance for the surgery but also said "I don't know why anyone would remove 85% of their stomach to lose weight when all you really need to do is eat better." I knew this was something she could never really understand. I now have a different PCP who has actually had the sleeve surgery himself and HE understands. ???? Try the Victoza if you want. But I would have a Plan B and if that includes changing PCP, I would consider it.

They have many plans so it depends on which one you have. I have Horizon BCBS NJPlus and was approved without any problem. Turn around time was about 2 weeks. Good luck! Waiting is the hardest ????

Language has power. But you choose how to use it and interpret it. "Elective" for me has nothing to do with insurance or how the medical profession sees it. "Elective" means it is a choice I made, I own it. I could have done something different or nothing at all. Instead I "elected" WLS. 3 years ago I elected to have both of my knees replaced. What got me through the horror of all the pain from the surgery and having to learn to walk all over again was that I knew it was my choice. No matter how much pain I was in I never felt sorry for myself or regretted it. I worked like an SOB. Today most people have no idea my knees are fake. WLS was for me, the same. It was my choice. I own it, I embrace it. Because I elected to do it. No one made me. That to me, gives that word power.

My pulminologist actually gives me a Lunesta to take for the test... bless the man. LOL Diagnosed with sleep apnea before my sleeve last Dec. Down 84 lbs since then and going for a retest in a couple of weeks... he thinks I can come off the CPAP ????

You'll be walking your little tush off... who needs a preop diet! LOL

Sleeved Dec 2014. Type 2, 12+ years. On a boatload of meds including 55 units of insulin, byetta, januvia, glimipiride, metformin and the list goes on. Down 82 lbs and my last a1c in June was 5.4. Been off everything post surgery. My endocrinologist says my diabetes is in remission. He says once you have it you will always have it and will always need to be vigilant regarding monitoring and eating. But I can tell you he couldn't be more delighted... and neither could I????
