Hi - I'm Jannylou, a 68yo wife, mother and grandmother about to embark on this journey. I am employed part time as a caretaker at a Cat Hotel. My joys in life are my family, particularly my 15yo grandson, my pets and reading.

Weight loss will be great, but my motivating issue is my health. I am hoping by losing the weight my diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and back pain will be, if not eliminated, at least drastically improved. I would have done this much sooner, but my insurance through work specifically excluded bariatric surgery. Now Medicare will be footing the bill.

Since two months ago I've been in training for this major life change by starting to journal my food intake, taking a class on cognitive behavioral change and trying to increase my exercise and water intake.

My preop appointment is this Friday and I imagine my surgery date will be set at that time. Excited and anxious at the same time. I'm looking to you folks for support, information, wisdom and understanding. I'll try to provide the same for you.
