Experiences with Phentermine?
tamg26k replied to RellaBelle's topic in GLP-1 & Other Weight Loss Medications (NEW!)
Ditto what @@JerseyCityGal said. I had this prescribed about 15 years ago and dropped a ton of weight. I worked out like crazy and the extra energy from the drug really helped. Unfortunately, once I stopped taking it I regained the weight. -
I live in STL and had RNY back in July.

A W E S O M E !!! You look fantastic! So inspiring! I aspire to purchase similar boots and to get the back of my arms firm. Any suggestions for the arms?

St. Louis support-very very nervous
tamg26k replied to breeze0404's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Congrats on this decision! I had RNY back in July at Des Peres. I can honestly say it was the best decision I have ever made. At 5 months out from surgery I am down 105 lbs.! You will do great with the surgery. My surgery could not have went any better. Had surgery on a Tuesday and was back to work the following Monday ( in a limited capacity) Just take things one day at a time and listen to what your body is telling you. I would start immediately with getting the Water in, it helps. I also cut out all caffeine about 3 months before I had my surgery. Walk, walk, walk...as soon as you can once you have your surgery it helps with pain from the gas Keep upcwith your water, Vitamins, and Protein...in that order Eat slow and small bites - this is the one thing that I sometimes struggle with now. It would be great if we could get a bariatric pal St Louis chapter going. Best of luck and keep us posted!! -
Awesome!! Keep it up!

Help, I need lunch ideas...
tamg26k replied to miaBigLoser's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One of my easy lunches is deli chicken that I get shaved then I some different sauces to it. Buffalo and Greek yogurt or Spicy Southwestern mustard and Greek yogurt are my favorites. I usually pair this with some edamame or low fat cottage cheese. Easy and delicious! -

Does anyone actually like their protein drink?
tamg26k replied to AvaFern's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@Kindle Great suggestions! I'm going to try these soon! I just bought the Syntrax nectar Vanilla torte Protein and I love it! Great taste. I do change up the flavoring a bit by adding some SF syrups in different flavors -
I think it gets better after your body adjusts. I bought a little tiny bottle of sweet breath and put a few drops on my tongue every now and then.

Yep. Had RNY in July

**Newbie Alert** Not happy
tamg26k replied to DionVSGme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Can you increase your Protein and Water? I try to get in at least 100 grams of protein a day (2 Protein shakes with soy milk account for the bulk of my protein intake) and al least 96 oz. of water. It is hard, I know. It really helps with the weight loss. High protein/low carb. Best of luck! -
I have the same problem with the back of my arms! They are getting better though. I joined a gym and started going about 5 days a week. Each day I do cardio and weights. Absolutely the best way to tone is with weights, especially free weights. I paid for a few training sessions and, no lie, after 3 sessions I can totally feel and see a difference. Squats, lunges, bench press, tricep extensions, dead lifts, etc will work wonders. You will also burn twice as many calories lifting weights over cardio. Because of the results, I now see the trainer once or twice a week for weight training. It was my little gift to myself. There are some free apps out there for weight training that have pictures and videos to make sure you have the proper form. They might be helpful. Best of luck!

@@melliegates I eat A LOT of protein! I stick to a low carb/high Protein diet. No bad carbs at all (Pasta, sugar, flour, potatoes, bread, etc.) I am pretty diligent about that. I know that I'll probably get a lot of negative feedback but I don't eat a lot of fruit at this point either, only a few berries here and there. Honestly as soon as I finish with protein there isn't much room for anything else! For the first 3 months or so I really tried to get all of my protein from food. Over the last month though (since joining the gym and working out 5 days a week), I started adding a few Protein shakes a day to get my protein up to about 110 grams a day. -

@@melliegates about 105 lbs. It get better for sure. I really make sure I get my Vitamins, Water, and Protein in everyday, I think it helps with energy. I also increase my dosage of B12 in the morning and it gives me some energy. I needed something to replace the caffeine! Best of luck!!! -
It has been 4 months to the date since my surgery. While at the gym this morning I weighed myself - 95 lbs. lost since surgery! I feel so much better It would have been really great to hit the 100 lb. mark at 4 months but who's complaining. The support I get from family and friends, and especially here has been awesome. Here's to the next 4 months!!!

Your Healthy Holiday Weight Loss Surgery Cheat Sheet
tamg26k replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
Great tips. I hosted a holiday party last week where food and cocktails are the key features. The appetizers I made were a huge hit! I did have to give up my wine.lol I made one cocktail (vodka and Water w/flavoring) last the entire night. Yes, I know cocktails are not recommended the first year, but I don't think one will hurt me. I'll re-read this before the next party! -
I had surgery back in July and lost weight like crazy. I really stuck to the plan and did a bit of walking. I have a fitbit flex that I have been wearing religiously since mid September. I do strive for between 7500-10000 steps a day and usually hit that goal. So 3 months post surgery I had lost about 90 lbs. but from month 3 to 4 my weight loss slowed down a bit. To try to avoid a stall, about 1 1/2 months ago I joined a gym and started doing more cardio and weight training. I work out with a trainer 1-2 times a week and feel great. I really look forward to the workouts. When I touch my upper arms or legs I can really feel a difference in how toned they are getting. The funny thing is that since I started working out 4-5 days a week, my weight loss is still pretty slow now, but I'm not worried or stressed at all. The motivation comes from how I feel, and that is a lot better! Something happens when you see and feel the results, it makes me want to do more and more! I also like "checking in" at my fitness center on facebook. I get a lot of positive feedback from friends who know I am changing my lifestyle. lol

Probably not a problem as long as it is just broth. I would watch the sodium though.

I had a real problem with this during for first few months, and actually still do from time to time. If I have something stuck I have to get it back up. The feeling of the stuck food is terrible. It was the same for me, I ate too big a bite of food and the food would not fit through the stoma to enter the stomach. Yes I am "throwing it up" but it never really entered my pouch so it is a little different. For me, I have to get the food back up, it is the only way I feel better. It doesn't happen very often, but it is something I think we will deal with for a long time. Best of luck!
