Mindless eating and daily no no's ...

I'm sure everyone has looked there, but I find a lot of stull on Pinterest and tweak a bit to my tastes. -
A month and six days after surgery
tamg26k replied to Eharmon5's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
One month out and down over 20 lbs. is really good! Take it one day at a time. You hear it all the time, the weight didn't get there in one day and won't go away overnight. Keep up the good work!! -
I would get the coat now from wherever you want. It's a huge boost when you can try it back on later and swim in it. Last month I had to go to a big event and had to buy a new dress because I didn't have any that fit. I bought a new one knowing that I would never wear it again. I didn't care because it was 3 sizes smaller than I would of worn just a couple of months ago. I try not to buy anything that I really don't need right now so I'm not wasting my money. It's hard though. We all worked really hard! Who wants to walk around in baggy clothing!!!

No more chewables! Tell me about your vitamins?
tamg26k replied to une nouvelle vie's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
I was given the go-ahead to transition from chewables (actually about 2 months ago) and tried a multi and calcium citrate but it was hard to swallow the large pills and it felt like they were getting stuck so I quit with those pills. For about 1 month now I have been taking capsules for my Iron and calcium citrate and the go down perfectly. My surgery center had no problem with this as long as I was taking the proper dosage. So now I still take a chewable multi (Centrium) , iron in capsule from, calcium citrate in capsule form, b12 in sublingual form, and Vitamin D in pill form. I had my labs run in October and they were good, except I needed to increase my iron a bit because I never was taking the right dosage. Everything I take I get from Vitamin Shoppe, except I get the B12 from costco. -
Which Weight Loss Surgery Is Right For Me?
tamg26k replied to paigeh93's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
You can really learn a great deal from this website regarding the different types of surgeries. As far as what is right for you, I don't think anyone on this forum will be able to tell you 100% what is right for you. Your doctor should be able to give you his or her recommendation, although mine did not, he said the choice was mine. My reasoning to go with RNY had to do with the cravings that hopefully would be curbed from the actually bypassing that part of the stomach/intestines where cravings are created. I was a big sweets person before surgery and loved my bread, now I don't really miss either. That's why I chose this surgery. I can honestly say I had little or no pain after surgery and the post-op was really routine. Just as the post above, I see my weight loss surgery as one step in a life style change I started 4 months ago. The next being brand new healthy eating habits, and finally regular exercise. WLS will not be a "magic cure" on its own. but you can be really successful if you add the other steps. Best of luck in whatever one you decide! -
I agree with @jess9395. I use a spoon for chicken salad, egg salad, etc. I've excluded all wheat and flour from my diet entirely and really don't miss it at all. Even at 4 months out, I still have a hard time eating anything beyond Protein because I get filled quickly. I do add a few veggies and berries to my meals but usually the protein does it for me. Bes of luck!

Congrats to everyone having RNY in July! Remember to WALK, WALK, WALK! as soon as you can after surgery. Keep us posted on your progress!

Feeling low and exercise for the first time !
tamg26k replied to nicola2014's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For the first 4 months after surgery I just walked, nothing too extreme. I usually did this after lunch so I had a bit more energy. I never felt light-headed or anything like that. Are you getting in all of the Water and Vitamins? This is my 4 month mark so I joined a gym and started working out 4-5 times a week, so far so good. I would just do what your body allows you to do and not push too hard. It does get easier. Best of luck! -
How to heat protein powder?
tamg26k replied to brown eyed gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
@@juliedishman I'd say you are doing really good. I don't know if this is the right answer for you, but at that stage I focused on Water, Vitamins, and Protein - in that order. I don't know if I was actually getting 4 oz at each meal although the broth did go down like water. I just focused on getting in more and more protein each day. I never added protein to my soups. I just drank Protein shakes. It starts to get much easier to get the required protein and water in each day. Best of luck! -
After surgery daily schedule for meds, vitamins, protein and liquids
tamg26k replied to smiley922's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told the same thing regarding the multi. We cannot absorb everything at once, kind of the same reason we have to space out the calcium. I do take the multi, b12 and Vitamin d all together and I was told that was fine. -
After surgery daily schedule for meds, vitamins, protein and liquids
tamg26k replied to smiley922's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I take my multi, b12 and Vitamin d when I'm walking out the door. I then set a reminder on my phone (voice reminder S voice with Samsung Galaxy 5) to take calcium 2.5 hours later. I'll then set another reminder for 2nd dose and 3rd dose. I take my 2nd multi vitamin with dinner then Iron before bed. This has been my vitamin routine. Usually I get them in. The S voice reminders really help! -
How to heat protein powder?
tamg26k replied to brown eyed gal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I make a Protein coffee each day. What I do is mix my protein with about 2 oz. of soy milk in my Ninja, usually the night before to use the next morning. I do this so it will settle and not be foamy. In the morning I brew a cup of coffee in my Keurig and add the protein mix. It blends great! Yes, the mix is a bit cold but not too bad the coffee is still hot. -
Really sorry that happened to you. Your co-worker was so rude! Your success will be your best medicine. I'd rise above their ignorance. Keep up the good work!

Why do I keep getting this message when trying to update my signature. I haven't used any signature lines yet. "Oops! something went wrong"

I had RNY on 7/15/14. So far so good! I try to focus on my Water, Vitamins, and Protein in that order. It's hard to get everything in! Recently, I joined a gym and started working out like crazy. I'm finding I need to increase my food and protein intake, but it is really hard! Best of luck to the next 4 months everyone!

12 says post op, best I've felt, yet regret I did it
tamg26k replied to nprcowboy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto to the above posts - It does get better. A LOT BETTER! Hang in there. Just wait until the weight starts dropping, hopefully you will feel different. -
The choices are endless with the Protein powder. Add to coffee, pudding. shake, etc. I haven't tried unjury yet. I just stick to a whey isolate protein mix, most are about the same as far as calories, fat, protein, carbs, and sugar. Perhaps you make have cut down on your protein or Water intake?

Weight tracking using My Fitness Pal
tamg26k replied to penman53's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been using fitbit to track my food and exercise but now I just went back to MFP (today actually) since I can scan bar codes and sync with fit bit. I customized my goals to 1000 calories per day - 15 % carbs 50% Protein 35% fat. My active lever is set to: very active. When I enter my exercise I am almost at net zero calories for the day. I do think I need to increase my intake so I added an afternoon Protein shake. Even with the shake I still will usually only average about 1000 calories per day. Maybe I just wont track my exercise. I know I'm exercising and my fitbit is still tracking my steps -
Definitely yes! Only I wouldn't of waited until I was 46, I would of had the same surgery much sooner!

Congrats!!

Dang! I'm hoping my vision gets better! lol
