  3. 6 years has passed since you registered at LapBandTalk! Happy 6th Anniversary aimeeoutdoors!

  4. I plan on going on a week long hiking trip all by my lonesome, with one of my dogs. I may go to Arkansas or even North Carolina. Another goal is to finish a triathlon when getting close to goal. My other half is already going to give me $500 for clothes, so I'm treating myself to something I could never do before the lap band.

I should have started writing this before I got the surgery done, but oh well. Things are going well with the band. I am finally at a good fill level. I am already at 4.2 cc in a 4.0 band. They are going to check my levels next month at my next appt. I have lost around 55 lbs or so, my scale is always off compared to the doc's office. I feel pretty good, but have been losing very slowly. I have stepped up my exercise and joined the Y last week. I do the Body for Life program. Yes, it is hard but is is also very rewarding. I love the results I get from it. I don't take a bunch of supplements, just drink my own protein drinks, etc... It is frustrating when you spend exorbitant amounts of money, and it is just as hard as dieting in my opinion. I am however, very happy that I got the band. I know I won't gain the weight back because I can go in for fills when I need them, or start seeing the pounds come back on.

    Anyone from Minnesota?

Hi there, I live in Cohasset and will be seeing Dr. Margo on the 13th. We'll have to keep in touch, it sounds like we may be close in surgery time. Best of luck to you!!!
  9. Hi Everyone, I am new here, and I want to say good going to everyone that reaches out for support. I haven't even had my first appointment to get the process started, but I have been researching the lap band for months. I go in for my initial appt. on July 13. I have a 43 BMI and have some of the usual health problems that go along with it. I have been up and down so many times, and have lost hundreds of pounds like most of us. I used to be a police officer and even went through the academy at 207 lbs. I got a fitness award at the end, and that goes to show you that you can be fit and fat at the same time. However, I would like to be fit and toned. I have gained back over 100 lbs. since that time, and had told myself that I would never be in this situation again. Well, here I am for the umpteenth time... eeeks! I want to know if anyone is interested in corresponding about fitness. I recently made a goal to finish a sprint triathlon a year after my surgery. I just bought a nice Cannondale bike, and will be building up to the 3 mile distance run over the next year. I will probably have some pain and it will take a long time to get fit again, but if anyone else wants to try it and strive to be fit as well as thin, give me a shout!!! I truly believe there is an athlete in everyone, we may just be a little slower! Aimee
