Hello Everyone! I am Courtney. I am 23 years old, I know everyone is surprised that I had this surgery because of my age. I have always had a hard time with my weight growing up. After I had my son when I was 18 I put on quite a bit of weight and never got rid of it. Then after that my mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer and went down hill fast. She was my best friend and passed away in December 2011. You could say I was in a deep depression for awhile dealing with death and other issues that came my way during this time. Safe to say I put on more weight and got to the biggest I have ever been. I was completely uncomfortable with myself and it started affecting me in many aspects of my life. With the risk of cancer, diabetes, and obesity on both sides of my family I knew I had to do something, after all I have a 4 year old boy who needs me! I tried many things until I finally looked into surgery. I eventually decided the sleeve was the choice to go with. As scared as I was, I was ready to make these life changes and be happier and healthier! I finally got my surgery July 8, 2014. I am happy with the choice I made although I know it is not going to be easy. Look forward to hearing from others out there life me :)
