I think I broke my scale...
TEXASLADY52 replied to TwoGoldens's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have been stalled forever!! Got where I hate the scale! Received a letter from my cardiologist yesterday with my blood work....not enough vitamins, thyroid is too low, ....etc. in other words I need a lot of adjustment. Maybe when all of this is straighten out I will start losing again and become friends with my scale again! -
I am so scared that I won't lose what I need to lose. Had stomach stapling in 1980 and only lost 11 pounds and went thru "hell"......so scared it will happen again!!!!

I feel like I am losing really slow if any at all!! I'm so upset...they say you loose really fast the first six months...well not me!! I'm still on a stall. Soup is still my main go to....lots of things I cant eat. I know I have lost inches because I am wearing tops that I haven't wore in years but I want the pounds to come off!!! My knees are really bad and I have a had time walking, so I am not getting in a lot of exercise Charlotte did my surgery also....the bills just won't quit coming in. My insurance had a $13K cap. The hospital took most of it. I paid $5500 down to Barker and $1600 at the hospital before the surgery. I had to have a IVC filter before the surgery at Forest Park and my surgery at Dr's Hospital. Right now I think I probably owe another $30K or more....it might be the stress from this that is causing my stall. Told them they would get $10.00 a month till I die. I just do not have it!

I didn't tell anyone except a few at work and they have been very supportive. I have been on so many diets. I could lose but could never keep it off. I also don't want anyone looking at me like "I thought she had WLS ...I can't tell she has lost " I friend and her daughter stopped by Sunday.....her daughter preceded to tell me that several ladies in her office had WLS and they "looked so old and had lost al of their hair"....REALLY! My husband's family has been so cruel over the years because of my weight. I threatened my husband if he told any of his family. I just want to see their faces when they do see me and I have lost my weight.....I just want to smile real big and then listen them run their mouths about if they think I am sick or something terrible is wrong with me. Only we know all the demons we have faught with our weight problems. Everyone.....Keep your heads high and keep on smiling knowing you are winning the race.

What will I need as for protein etc.
TEXASLADY52 replied to TheNewSamanthaSmiles17's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
GENEPRO http://www.musclegen.net/ .... this is oderless and tasteless and does not clump. You can add it to hot or cold....or just sprinkle over your food. This stuff is great. One tablespoon equals a scoop of whey and has 30 grams of Protein. It is approved by John Hopkins and has 96% absorbtion. You can also order it from Amazon. I go by every morning to a shake shop....get a Chunky Monkey (35 grams of protein).....add a scoop of Genepro (30 grams of protein)....later I fix a Crystal Light and add another scoop.....I already have 95 grams for the day!!! I understand you can contact the website and they will send you a sample? -

I was still having trouble getting up and down out of my chair. -
My suggestion is to follow all advice you will receive from the professional field on this journey. You will receive plenty of advice from everyone else but listen to your doctor, nutritionist....etc. This is very important especially after the surgery. Do not buy large tubs of Protein or large quanties of anything else. Your taste will change. Buy sample packages of protein until you find one that is agreeable to you. Before surgery stock your pantry....clear liquids, Jello, puddings, yogurt...etc. Good Luck and keep us informed on how you are doing.

How Fast do the weight come ofg
TEXASLADY52 replied to toohot74akaelh2's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I also thought the weight would just fall off at a tremdous rate, but we all lose differently. We did not gain this over night. The main thing is it is coming off and hopefully forever. You have to remember you have put your body through a lot. You need to stay off of the scales the first month and give your body time to heal......this should be your main goal right now. Don't be disappointed when you hit stalls.....we all do.....some for weeks and some for months. Most of the time during stalls you will still lose inches.......Good Luck! -

I too never had a problem with protein shakes before the surgery.....I got where I could not choke one down and was averaging (if I was lucky) 30 grams of protein a day before I heard of Genepro. I tried ISOPURE and first thought they were great.....then I started adding Crystal light to them where I could drink them but they left such an after taste. I tried everything.....contact the website and they will send you a sample. -
I was foaming like a mad dog, everytime I tried to eat. Dietician told me to take smaller bites (the size of a dime) and chew chew chew. One meal should last 20-30 minutes. Another reason for all the foam.....I waited more than four hours between eating and my stomach was filling up with stomach acids. Eat small amounts often.

Very Happy for You! Good Luck! -
I'm so sorry you are having such emotional time. It will get better. I haven't been hungry... That is my biggest problem. I have had a horrible time trying to eat. I mainly eat soup, I have to have lots of sauce whatever I eat. Good luck and I'm here if you need to talk!

There was another girl on here tried it after I recommended it and she loved it. She stated that she contacted the company and they sent her samples....you might try and see if you can get a sample???

I am SO SO SO confused!!!! From day one the doctor told me I was having a revision!! He was going to do a combination of a bypass and DS because of my BMI. So since June I thought I had a DS... (surgery was actually done by another doctor in his office)....today I found out that I had a Malabsorbtion Bypass and no DS???? So all the study and research I did on the DS was in vain!!!!! He told me that the reason I was doing the DS was that the greater percentage of weight loss and the lower percentage of likely hood to gain it back!!!! Right now I am just numb!!! I have a call into his office to find out why??? and why I wasn't told???? This may make sense as to why I still can eat!!!!

Between supplment meals....snacks?
TEXASLADY52 replied to vbm510's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Nuts sometimes are hard to digest. The reason they want you on a liquid diet is so your liver is not fatty and it doesn't get in the way of surgery. I did get me some instant potato packages and made it so thin I could drink it from a cup..... Told myself it was potato soup. -

4 week stall and late cycle

I was in the same boat......it is so depressing when you are not dropping weight. Make sure you are getting all of your Protein in and all of your Water in. I thought I was getting "most" of my water in. I downloaded an app to track it and I wasn't getting enough water in. It helped when I started drinking more water, -

WOOHOO! Good Work! -
I was also instructed to write a letter to the insurance company (Dr office submitted it with their paperwork)...hope this helps: To Whom It May Concern: I originally had a VBG (Vertical Band Gastroplasty Stapling) in 1980 Following the surgery of the VBG I was very compliant with the post-operative directions, including but not limited to: Not "over-eating" Not drinking during meals No carbonated drinks Exercised and tried to walk at least a mile or more every day Attended all follow-up appointments I never was able to lose any countable amount of weight. The stapled band was too loose and there was no way to adjust it, therefore there was very little restriction, causing poor weight loss. I vomited regularly until the staple line dividing the stomach broke down. The VBG is now causing a lot of concern. The staple line came completely apart and I now have two separate pouches for a stomach. Per Dr. xxxxx M.D., this is why I cannot lose weight and will never be able to lose the weight. This has nothing to do with compliance and has caused a great deal of pain and discomfort. I still suffer with acid reflux, heartburn, spasmodic esophagus and vomiting. Dr. xxxx also diagnosed me with H Pylori gastritis. My stomach problems gets worse when it is empty and improves when I eat food or drink milk, which then I get diarrhea. The bacteria can also attach to cells of the stomach, causing stomach inflammation and can stimulate the production of excess stomach acid. Over time, this with the bacteria can increase my likely hood of developing stomach cancer. Over the years I have done everything I can to control my weight and have failed at all attempts. I can lose some weight, but then I gain it all back and more. With my severe morbid obesity, I suffer with diabetes, arthritis, high blood pressure, anxiety, panic attacks and neuropathy. I am having significant adverse symptoms from my obesity. I have difficulty standing and walking. I have difficulty performing any daily activities and in participating in any family activities. I have intolerable problems with the constant pain of the weight-bearing joints. If I continue the way I am, I will have to have both knees replaced. I have already had three gel shots at the cost of $2000 each trying to be able to keep walking and am in the need of shots in each knee again at this time. I have sleep apnea and have been diagnosed with Obesity Hypoventilation. I suffer severe episodes of drowsiness, or narcosis and unable to drive a car a long distance. The way I am right now, I might have five years to live. I don’t want to face the possibility of cancer and I would like to get to the point that I am healthy and add twenty or more years to my life. Sincerely,
