Do you notice how much others eat?
Quest4TheNewMe replied to *Lexie*'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was just noticing tonight that my husband takes huge bites and doesn't even finish chewing one bite before he's biting off more... Of course, he's always been skinny... -
I had a doc appt today and was told that it could be due to needing to drink more water or because my calorie intake is so low. I was told that if it keeps happening, to try upping my calorie intake a bit.

I'm almost a month out and I notice more dizzy spells after standing too.

How to tell my 4 y.o. about surgery
Quest4TheNewMe replied to altraoiche's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my 7 yr old that I had to have something in my tummy fixed and that I was FINE and that we'd have to be careful for a while after. She asked what was wrong and I told her not to worry about it, that I'm fine. I showed her and my 3 yr old that I had owies and that they have to be gentle. That's pretty much been the end of it. -
Anyone head of it? I just saw it at the gas station. Looks like flavored water. 15g protein, 2g carbs, 70 calories. There were 4 different flavors.

How long was your hospital stay?
Quest4TheNewMe replied to Sexy Granni's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A

Skinny People's Poop May Hold the Disgusting Key to Weight Loss
Quest4TheNewMe replied to mistysj's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My surgeon is actually leading a clinical study on this. I signed up to participate but I was supposed to provide a stool sample one week pre-op, but I was at work, so the timing didn't work out. They did take some blood and a fat sample. -
Have a really difficult time 4 days post op.
Quest4TheNewMe replied to kcsaab's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was absolutely exhausted the first week, for sure. I definitely wasn't getting in as much Fluid as you, either. At just over two weeks, there have only been a couple of days that I've come home from work and haven't taken a nap. I also haven't been cleared for exercise, other than walking. But, never take advice on here over the advice of your surgeon. Don't be afraid to call or go to the ER if you feel as though something isn't right. -
Sugar addict and Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy (VSG) surgery?
Quest4TheNewMe posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm really stuck as to whether to get the sleeve or bypass... I went into this process set on bypass, but now I'm considering the sleeve. My biggest concern is that I'm a former sugar addict (have done well the last couple of months), but I feel like I would be better off with bypass because of the risk of dumping. Is anyone here, who has had the sleeve, been successful in fighting the sugar cravings? Does the sleeve do anything to help you curb the cravings? I'm afraid that if I don't have that extra incentive (dumping) to avoid the sweets, I'll fall back into my sugar loving ways... -
Day 10 post op QUESTIONS
Quest4TheNewMe replied to jessiquoi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm two weeks one day out and have been going up and down the same pound or two for almost a week. I know it's related to being bloated though. -

GAINING weight first week post-op? What's happening?
Quest4TheNewMe replied to Jessica Santos's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 14 days post-op and my scale has been bouncing up and down a bit, but I know that it's bloat due to my upcoming menstrual cycle. Just keep following the rules and hang in there. Your body is still in freak out mode. -
What a difference a year makes...gobble, gobble.

Your Thanksgiving Dinner Game Plan
Quest4TheNewMe replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
I made a turkey breast, mashed potatoes, gravy, steamed carrots, stuffing, cranberries and pumpkin pie. I ate about 1.5 oz of turkey, with gravy, and about 3 steamed baby carrots, and I'm more than satisfied. I'm two weeks post-op today. -
I've finally been progressed past the clear liquid phase but I was surprised that I almost had to beg the NUT to allow me to have Protein shakes. But, at the end of the day, I don't have an extra 20-30 minutes to sit and eat Breakfast. She finally agreed. I went to GNC to buy a couple of samples, but the only thing they had samples of is their Lean 25 powders. I bought the chocolate one and it's okay, but I don't love it. My NUT suggested Jay Robb, which seems to have good reviews on the GNC website. So, I might just give that a shot (even though they don't have sample packets). The nutrition facts on the Jay Robb are more favorable than the GNC brand. My main question though, if you use the powder, how do you not end up with chunks? I bought a shaker cup, but it doesn't really seem to be effective for the small portion that I'm making (around 6 oz). Any other tips? Also, I wish the shaker cups had a strainer in the mouth piece, to hold back to chunks. Ick!!

How many people did NOT tell their Place of Employment
Quest4TheNewMe replied to VGB's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I told my boss that I was having surgery, but nothing beyond that. I have now told two close friends at work what I had done , but I didn't tell them until post-op. I'm only 12 days post- op though, so we'll see how that goes as I get further out. -
What foods were you allowed on your puréed phase? After being on Clear liquids for the first nine days, I expected to move to full liquids for a week, but my NUT told me this morning that when we meet on Friday, I'll be moving to the puréed stage and to start thinking about what I want for lunch that day. I'm sure she'll give me her guidelines on what I can have. But, give me some ideas on what you were allowed to have during that phase!
